Require 2FA for all quickbook online users

Hi there, @ptollinger

Thank you for reaching back to the Community. To view all users who are using the 2FA is unavailable in QuickBooks. As a workaround, require all users to log in to https://accounts.intuit.com/ and confirm if your profile is already turn on the Two-step verification. If not, you can follow my colleague @MJoy_D steps above on how to turn on the 2FA.

For more information about 2FA you can follow this article: Turn on or turn off two-step verification

To learn more about Verify your account with multi-factor authentication, please refer to this article: Verify your account with multi-factor authentication

That's it. Please let me know if you need further assistance with it. I'm just a post away. Have a great day!

Let me show you how to turn on the Two-step verification option, @ptollinger

Here's how to enable it:

  1. Log in to the Intuit Account Management portal using your QuickBooks credentials.
  2. Click the Sign In & Security tab and select Turn On to expand the Two-step verification section. You will be prompted to enter a phone number if you initially did not enter it during the setup of your account.
  3. Enter the number you want to use to verify the account and select Turn on text message verification.
  4. Choose to receive the one-time passcode by either text message or voice message and select Turn On.
  5. Enter the one-time passcode you received and select Continue.

After enabling the Two-step verification, we’ll send you a verification code every time you're using a different browser when logging into QBO or when QuickBooks doesn't have cache data files to a web page.

See the following article for more information: Turn on or turn off two-step verification

Let us know if there's anything that I can help you with. I'm always here to assist. Have a wonderful day!

Ok, thanks for confirming that I just couldn't find it. Is there any plan for when you will at least show if a user as 2FA enabled or, even better, require users to have it?

Thanks,

Thanks for coming back @ptollinger,

Currently, we don't have an exact timeline as to when this option will be available.

I'd still encourage sending a product request to our engineers. They can consider this feature added in the future update.

I'll also share with you our page about account management for QuickBooks Online for additional reference.

Feel free to drop by anytime if you need help with anything else. The Community is always here to help. Thanks again and have a great weekend. Take care.

How/where do we send a product request?  This is critical to be able to enforce multi-factor authentication for such an important online application that holds so much personal information.  It is scandalous that it is not available and a full administrator of the account cannot even tell if other users have enabled it voluntarily.  Please escalate this request however possible.  Thank you,

Hi there, teamone.

Having the option to enable multi-factor authentication for all your users can add an extra layer to your account security. I understand the importance to protect your personal information. No worries, I recommend sending feedback to our product developers to help improve your experience in QuickBooks Online.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Once done, hit Next to submit feedback.

You can track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.

For your reference, you can review this guide: Turn on or turn off two-step verification. This contains detailed steps to turn on multi-factor authentication in QBO.

Let us know if you have further questions about the account security feature. We're always here to back you up. Stay safe!

It's misleading to mark this as solved. It's still not possible to enforce 2FA for all users.

This reply does not answer the users question.  We NEED to a feature to ensure MFA is enabled for all users.

@AileneAThis discussion has not been solved.

Has there been any updates on this issue? I view this as a massive security weakness in QBO software if admins cannot set a policy requiring all users to use Multi-Factor Authentication. How are any companies running QBO software able to prove to their Insurance Providers that they're security compliant if they cannot show their employees have MFA enabled?

The link you shared is broken. Can you verify and share again?  I am really looking forward to seeing the solution to this concern that has been outstanding for nearly five years now.

I am pretty sure you meant to share this post: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/other-questions/password-and-mfa-requirements-for-...

I'll save everyone reading this the trouble though.  It concludes that as of today the feature is still not available.

Currently, turning on/off the multi-factor authentication (MFA) for users as we wish is still unavailable, @Matt264. It is on by default to safeguard your data and ensure that the person accessing the account is you alone.

Intuit must pay employees to go around and respond to community posts even if the posts just repeat the same answers as others..

@RheaMaeH

Thank you for your response, however I again reiterate that no solution has been provided for this issue and it is misleading to insinuate that. As of today the feature of requiring MFA across all user accounts is not supported by QBO.

I have submitted a feature request as suggested and will update this thread with any updates I hear.
