Stop Automatic Updates - QB Premier 2023

I have a Windows version of QB Premier 2023. Automatic updates are on, but I want to disable that. The option to disable is grayed out. How can I change this?

Stop Automatic Updates - QB Premier 2023

Hello, @smpl_thomas. Glad to have you here in the Community space.

We have another way of turning off the automatic updates in the QuickBooks Desktop.

If you haven't tried it, you can follow these steps.

  1. On your keyboard, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
  2. Select Task Manager. Then, the Startup tab.
  3. Look for QuickBooks Automatic Update.
  4. Select Disable.

Once done, turn off shared updates in QuickBooks Desktop. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. In the Options tab, select No for the Share Download option.
  3. Then, Close.

If the same thing happens, please give us a short call. We'll have to check your account in detail to figure out what's causing this one.

Within your QuickBooks Company file, select QuickBooks Desktop Help from the Help menu. You can also press F1 on your keyboard to bring up the same Help panel. To route you to the correct support expert, we need to know what type of question you have. Give a brief description of your issue and click Continue.

Alternatively, you can also use this link:

  1. Go to this link: Contact Support.
  2. Enter your full name and email address.
  3. Then, follow the on-screen instruction to complete the process.

You may want to check these resources for more details about QuickBooks Desktop payroll.

Please let us know how it goes. The Community is always around to assist you. Take care and stay safe.
