There's a new Quickbooks software update waiting for you

@GLucas. If you look on the 1st page, a post by BigRedConsulting has a link to instructions to manually perform the process. This however is only to disable forced updates, not to resolve .NET dependencies that QuickBooks might need.

You must be running an old version of Microsoft Windows to only have .NET 1.1.4322. I don't see a way to bypass the dependency... you have to update to a QuickBooks supported version of Windows. QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise requires Windows 10 or higher (https://quickbooks.intuit.com/desktop/enterprise/technical-specs/).

Sorry for the late reply.

Welcome to the Community, Jackie.

I'll share some information to help you figure this out.

Ensure to log into your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) account as an Admin. You'll want to check if you're using multi-user mode. If this is the case, you can exit it and switch to the single-user mode by going to the File menu at the top and choosing Switch to Single-user Mode from the drop-down menu.

Once done, you can check if you can now install the upgrade. Here's how:

  1. In QBDT, go to the Help menu to get to the Update QuickBooks Desktop
  2. Proceed to the Update Now tab.
  3. Place a checkmark in the Rest Update box, then hit Get Updates.

For other users who use remote access from different computers, the same process can be performed on those PCs while in single-user mode. If finished, you can then return to multi-user mode.

You can always get back here in the Community if you have more questions. I'll be here to lend a helping hand. Stay safe!

There's a new Quickbooks software update waiting for you

Glad to have you here in the Community, @Jen1733.

Let's get rid of the QuickBooks Update Service prompt so you can get back to working order.

Have you tried updating your QuickBooks Desktop software manually? If you haven't yet, I suggest doing it so. This will help remove the QuickBooks Update Service prompt every time you open your QuickBooks Desktop. It'll also keep your QuickBooks up-to-date so you have the latest features and product improvements.

To do so, you can go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop. Then, go to the Update Now tab and click Get Updates.

If you get the same result, perform a clean installation of your QuickBooks Desktop program to start fresh. You can browse this article for detailed instructions: Clean install QuickBooks Desktop.

If the issue persists after performing the troubleshooting steps, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. This way, they can further check on this matter and provide in-depth troubleshooting steps to get this resolved.

As always, feel free to visit our QuickBooks Community help website if you need tips and related articles in the future.

Come back to this post and let me know how the troubleshooting steps go, @Jen1733. I want to make sure you're taken care of.

There's a new Quickbooks software update waiting for you

Intuit really is pushing themselves out of the business accounting market.  NO business should allow their users to login to their computers with Administrative priviledges.  As a managed service provider, we do not allow our users to do this.  So our accountants offices often have to wait on us to login and install the updates for them.  Our customers have an "on-site" contact that has an admin login, but they are often not available, or don't remember their credentials.  It almost seems like Intuit doesn't care about the productivity of their clients, or the security of their data.  Apparently installing their latest marketing and tracking updates is more important than the usefulness of the software.

I tried to install the update but each time it stops at the same spot. I can't get it to finish the update and I can't access QB.

There's a new Quickbooks software update waiting for you

Hello there, Empop299. Let me help you in installing your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

First, I would like to ask which specific QBDT software you have. It will allow me to provide you with the correct steps for your software.

Before installing the update on your QuickBooks, please ensure your computer meets the requirements to avoid issues. You can check these articles for more information:

If the system requirements for QBDT installation are met, we can take the necessary steps to resolve the installation issue. First, ensure to close QuickBooks for a simultaneous process. Then follow the steps provided below:

  1. Close your QBDT.
  2. Right-click on the taskbar, then choose Task Manager.
  3. Under the details tab, search for the following background processes to select and End tasks for each.
    1. QBW32.exe or QBW.exe
    2. QBCFMonitorService.exe
    3. qbupdate.exe
    4. QBDBMgr.exe or QBDBMgrN.exe
    5. QBMapi32.exe
  4. Right-click on the QuickBooks shortcut, then select Run as administrator.
  5. Kindkly rerun the update.

Furthermore, I recommend utilizing the QBDT Toolhub to fix your software and gain access if the steps don't work. Then, download the update again and reinstall it.

Additionally, check out these articles can help gain insights into new updates in QBDT:

Return to this thread if you have further questions about installing the updates. I'll be sure to answer them once I get your reply. Keep safe!
