What if you cannot open your company file because it is already updated? Can't I just install the new software and input my license, etc.? Every time I think I'm installing the newest version, I get some outdated version. Why so difficult?
Hi, @Neal1966. Thanks for joining the thread.
When QuickBooks updates a company file, it alters the structure of the data file to be compatible with new features and improvements included in the latest version. As such, once a company file is updated to a newer version of QuickBooks, it cannot be opened with an older version.
To provide better assistance, may I kindly inquire if you experience any specific issue restoring your company file to an updated QuickBooks Desktop software?
Let us know if you have updates on the situation. We'll do our best to assist. Take care.
What if you cannot open your company file because it is already updated?
Which QB Desktop year version do you have?
What do you mean with "update"? e.g QBD 2023 R3 to QBD 2023 R5, or QBD 2023 to QBD 2024?
Hi RCV,
I have a similar scenario. However, I could no longer open my 2016. Can I have a link where to download the 2016 installer? So I can convert to the other versions before getting the 2022?
Thank you for your response.
Joy
