Trying to connect my VENMO to Quickbooks but keep getting, "Looks like the connection to Venmo isn’t available right now." Has anyone else gotten this?

Good morning, @emljfw77

Thanks for reaching out to the Community for support. I hope you're enjoying the day so far. I'm happy to lend a hand with your error.

To clarify, is there an error number associated with your error message? For example, 102, 105, or 101. Knowing if there is an error number will help me to find the exact set of steps you'll need to resolve this issue. In the meantime, I've included some basic troubleshooting steps below that you can use.

You can clear the cache in your browser. Web browsers collect cache to save time when loading repetitive data and images. Over time these files can become outdated and corrupted, causing issues like your Venmo not connecting. I've included the links for all supported browsers that contain the steps to clear the cache below.

Once you've cleared the cache from your browser, please ensure closing the browser and reopening it so the changes can take effect. Then, try connecting your Venmo again.

I'll be sure to keep an eye out for your response. Let me know if you have additional questions or concerns. As always, feel free to reach out to the Community at any time. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day!

Trying to connect my VENMO to Quickbooks but keep getting, "Looks like the connection to Venmo isn’t available right now." Has anyone else gotten this?

I am having this issue. At first my Venmo was not updating. So I deleted Venmo. Next I tried to add Venmo back. Error message says there is an error saying “connection to Venmo is not available”

This has been going on for a week. There is nothing the matter with logging into my Venmo and my account is correct on Venmo. Just not Intuit.

I appreciate the actions that you've taken to help get this matter sorted out, @Libbymontgomery.

Let me provide some insights about connecting the Venmo accounts in QuickBooks Online.

To start with, I'd like to ask what type of Venmo account are you trying to connect. Is it personal or business? Any further details about this issue are much appreciated so I can narrow down this concern.

Know that Venmo only allows the personal account to be connected with QuickBooks. If you're trying to connect a business account, you may consider reaching out to your financial institution. This way, you can submit a request for your business account to be connected with QBO.

If you're trying to connect a personal account and the problem continues, I'd suggest reaching out to our Customer Care Team. They have the tools that can check on your account and help fix this hurdle.

To do that:

  1. Click on Help at the top menu bar.
  2. Select on the Contact Us button.
  3. Enter a brief description of the issue in the What can we help you with? box.
  4. Press on Let's talk.
  5. Select on Get a callback.
  6. Key in your contact details, then tap on Confirm my call.

For now, you may consider manually uploading your bank transaction in QBO to get your work done.

Here's how:

  1. Click Banking from the left navigation panel.
  2. Pick File Upload from the Update drop-down menu or Upload transactions manually if there isn’t any bank connected to QBO.
  3. Select Browse and choose the file you downloaded.
  4. Choose an account from the list, then Next.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to map the fields.
  6. Select the transactions to import.
  7. Click Yes.
  8. Hit Let’s go.

For the information and steps on importing these files, see this article: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

I'm also adding these links below to help you in connecting and categorizing your bank transactions in QBO:

Reach back out to me here if you need further assistance. I'll make sure you're taken care of. Have a nice day!

Trying to connect my VENMO to Quickbooks but keep getting, "Looks like the connection to Venmo isn’t available right now." Has anyone else gotten this?

I'm here to help ensure you can seamlessly connect your bank account to QuickBooks Online (QBO), @lafulana.

The error 102, usually happens when your bank's website is undergoing maintenance or have server issues. Which can stop the online bank connection to QBO. You can perform these steps to get rid of the error:

  1. Let's start with manually updating your online banking connection in QBO.
  2. Navigate to the Banking menu or Transactions menu.
  3. Then, select Update.

If something happens, I'd recommend checking your bank's website to ensure everything is working on their end. Here's how:

  1. Log in to your bank's website.
  2. Once done, look for any messages, notifications, or alerts. This should tell you if something isn't working.
  3. Then, review your account pages, account history, and transactions. If you can't find these, there may be connection issues.

For your reference about the process above, please visit this article: Fix bank error 102 and 105.

You'll want to reconcile your account to ensure your transactions are matched and your books have accurate data.

Stay in touch if you have any other banking concerns. I'll be always around to help. Take care.

I get the same error with code 102. It's a personal Venmo and deleted and tried to add back in with no luck. Not sure why QBO always has to be so difficult with everything I try to do, very frustrating.

I would feel the same way if this happens to me, willismr62

Please know that we are receiving the same report from other users of Venmo and QBO. Our engineers are already working for the solution but cannot provide a turnaround time yet.

In the meantime, you can download your transactions in a CSV file and upload them to the Banking page so that you can continue working on them. If there isn't a CSV option, you can download them to an Excel file and save it as CSV (comma delimited) to make sure it's compatible for upload.

In regard to the content of the file, you will only need the Date, Description, and Amount/s columns. You'll map these them to the ones available in QuickBooks during the upload process. If the deposit and the payment amounts are separated, just be sure to not interchange them. Else, you'll need to reupload the entries again.

Trying to connect my VENMO to Quickbooks but keep getting, "Looks like the connection to Venmo isn’t available right now." Has anyone else gotten this?

Let me give you folks the solution that worked for me.

1) Contact Venmo with a ticket explaining the connection issue from QBO to Venmo personal account.

2) Received can response from Venmo without a solution within the canned FAQ they provided.

3) Noticed small print that said "why don't you just verify your email" --thought this was odd.

4) Clicked link to verify my payment email (which is odd as this has worked for a few years.

5) System did indicate that my e-mail had never been verified (again, verily strange)

6) After verification of email, tried to reconnects and started to get SMS verifications again

7) Success!

Thanks for sharing an update with us, @Shemrose. I'll be sharing some details about bank error 102 in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

We understand the frustration of not having this function as expected and the importance of getting this resolved as quickly as possible.

At this time, we have an open investigation (INV-67054) for this exact issue you stated above. This has been raised with the banking engineers to understand why this unexpected behavior is happening. Rest assured, our engineers are working on a fix.

For now, I suggest contacting our QBO support team to add you to the list of affected users. This way, you’ll receive a notification when a fix is available. Just make sure to check our support hours so you can contact us at a time convenient to you.

You'll want to reach out to your financial institution to ensure everything is working on their end. You can also log in to your bank's website and check for any notification that requires attention. If the issue persists, I suggest contacting Customer Support Team to assist in this matter.

As a workaround, you can manually upload transactions into QBO by following the steps provided by my peer, BettyJaneB, above.

For future reference, here are some articles that you can read to help speed up the review process of your online bank transactions:

I have had a similar issue. things worked fine then all of a sudden had to re-enter our credentials.  Received a 103 error.  I confirmed my account information and contacted support.  Went through all the required suggestions and still nothing.  I reported support and this is my case number 1576311207.  this was over a week ago.  I contacted Venmo and my account credentials are correct.  This is a QBO issue!  Any advice?

Trying to connect my VENMO to Quickbooks but keep getting, "Looks like the connection to Venmo isn’t available right now." Has anyone else gotten this?

Have also been getting the 102 error for about a month. Occasionally, when I'm not there, the Venmo account responds and downloads some transactions. If I have previously downloaded and update the account by hand it results in duplicated transactions which I have to clean up.

There is another issue which I have reports, and remains unaddressed. I disconnect the Venmo account so I can use manual transaction transfers - which works fine. BUT, when I exit the manual transfer the Venmo account is automatically reconnected to the Venmo 'bank'. This happens without my being asked - I only detected it as the 'lightning bolt' shows up on the Venmo bank in the chart of accounts, but the Venmo account does not show the Venmo panel in the banking tab. This bug has been there for months now, and no sign of it being addressed.

Is there an outstanding issues web page where I can track resolution?

Just to be clear, there is currently no way to link a business Venmo account to our Quickbooks account, correct? This seems like something that should have been resolved by now.

Trying to connect my VENMO to Quickbooks but keep getting, "Looks like the connection to Venmo isn’t available right now." Has anyone else gotten this?

Good evening, @3dogtrainingllc

Thanks for taking the time to follow the thread and reaching out to the QuickBooks Community.

You're correct. At this time, QuickBooks can only connect to personal Venmo accounts, not business accounts. However, you can manually upload your Venmo business transactions.

You'll have to download the transactions from Venmo manually. Then, upload the file to your account. Here's how:

First, Download bank transactions:

  1. Go to your online banking account to get your file.
  2. Check or follow your bank's instructions to get a copy of the data and then save it on your computer.
  3. Ensure the data range is at least one day before your oldest transaction to avoid duplicates.
  4. Please take note of the supported file format and size. It should be either a Comma-Separated Values (CSV) or a QuickBooks Online (QBO) file.
  5. Download your transactions and save the file to your desktop.

To upload the file to your QuickBooks account:

  1. Go to the Banking menu and select the bank where you're uploading the transactions from the Banking tab.
  2. Click the Link account drop-down and select Upload from file.
  3. On the window that appears, click the Browse button and choose the file you'll be downloading.
  4. Click on Open, then Next.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions. Match the columns on the file with the banking fields in QuickBooks, then select Next.
  6. Click on Let's go. QuickBooks will now add the transactions to your account.

Trying to connect my VENMO to Quickbooks but keep getting, "Looks like the connection to Venmo isn’t available right now." Has anyone else gotten this?

I am also having issues with my Venmo (personal) account and Quickbooks Online. I have been using QBO for several months and when I set up my account I didn't have any issues connecting Venmo as one of my banks. All of a sudden, yesterday, I received error message 106, saying that my Venmo account cannot be connected because it appears to be closed. I have not closed my Venmo account and it works perfectly when I log in. I have been on the phone with Venmo and they see no problems on their end. I spoke to QBO and they said I need to contact Venmo...circle goes round and round with no resolution.

I cleared the cache for my browser to make sure that wasn't the issue. I disconnected my Venmo account yesterday and tried to reconnect it...still doesn't allow me to reconnect. Same error message 106 over and over. So frustrating! Nobody at QBO seems to have a clue how to fix this. The whole point of QBO is to have automatic transaction records...now I see I'm supposed to manually download all these transactions. Just ridiculous. Please figure this out...everyone uses Venmo these days!

Trying to connect my VENMO to Quickbooks but keep getting, "Looks like the connection to Venmo isn’t available right now." Has anyone else gotten this?

I appreciate your efforts in trying some troubleshooting steps to get this banking error sorted out, vtalley13.

Error code 106 means QuickBooks is unable to locate your account on your bank or Financial Institution's (FI) website. This happens when the account is closed. You'll want to make sure you're using the correct bank's URL when connecting your account to prevent any error. Follow the steps below:

  1. Login to your bank’s website and confirm that you have the correct login credentials.
  2. Login to your QBSE account through a web browser using this link https://selfemployed.intuit.com/login.
  3. Go to Banks Accounts page by clicking the Gear icon at the top.
  4. In the search box, enter the name or URL of your bank.
  5. Select Continue
  6. Physically type the username and password you use for your bank's website.
  7. Hit Connect securely.

However, if you have tried all the options matching your bank's name and still can't connect, or if your bank doesn’t appear, you can request support for your bank. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon, then select Ban.
  2. Enter Venmo from the search bar.
  3. Select the Still can't find your bank link.
  4. In the Bank name field, enter the full name of the account
  5. Paste the bank's URL in the field, then click Request.

For your reference, check this article, it outlines the steps on how to request support for your financial institution: Find your bank account when you connect to online banking.

I can also suggest contacting our support team to investigate this further. They have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment.

Thank you for trying to help me with this issue,TirzahC, but none of this is working:

I followed your instructions: "I've added this article for more details, then proceed directly to Step 4 to access the information: What To Do If You Get A Bank Error or Can't Download Transactions In QuickBooks Online. ", but I get this error message after logging in with my venmo information (which works on the venmo site, so I know I'm putting in the correct information):

We couldn’t find an account or tax details linked to the info entered.

Did you recently close the account? Contact your bank or financial institution to find out more. (106)

I also tried your advice here: For your reference, check this article, it outlines the steps on how to request support for your financial institution: Find your bank account when you connect to online banking.

I went to error 106 and tried to troubleshoot and same issue.

I tried reconnecting my venmo multiple times on QBO. This is the most recent error I got:

Double check all the info entered to make sure we get the right form.

Make sure we’re also connecting to the right financial institution. (106)

I want to pull my hair out.

Hi there, vtalley13.

I appreciate you for performing the troubleshooting steps shared above to fix the issue about the connection with your bank in QuickBooks Online. I'll ensure you'll be routed to the right person so you're able to report this matter so you can get back on track as soon as possible.

Trying to connect my VENMO to Quickbooks but keep getting, "Looks like the connection to Venmo isn’t available right now." Has anyone else gotten this?

Hi ChristieAnn, I appreciate you trying to help.

I already contacted the QuickBooks support team and was on the phone (and shared my screen so they could see exactly what was happening on my end). Unfortunately, they could not resolve the issue and redirected me to contact Venmo. I was on the phone with Venmo today and they say that there is no issue with my Venmo account and it is a QB issue. So basically I am being passed back and forth by both companies and neither one seems to be able to fix the problem.

I also referred to the article to see other various banking errors and how to fix them: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online. Unfortunately, this is a dead end because it just explains what I already know...that QB is having trouble connecting to my Venmo account and continues to give me error 106 as the reason...again, I understand that the code means that the bank account is inactive or closed, but that is not the case, as I have already explained in my previous posts.

Is there anyone else you can recommend I speak to at QB? The first person tried to help but didn't get me any farther than where I am currently...unable to reconnect my account.

Thank you for coming back to the thread to add further details about your concern and what you've done to fix the issue, vtalley13.
