undesirable update forces me to change how I email my estimates, more friction!

Now the latest is how QB has decided that I need to email my estimates in a different way.

Previously I would click Send Email and a new Outlook email message showed up with some QB stuff prepopulated. It had its flaws, the big one being that it blocked the entire outlook app.

Now the new thing is there is a form in QB that mimics the Outlook email form, except it has the same microscopic fonts we learned to despise in QBs and a miniscule window to add injury to insult!

Now, I cannot believe that QB devs think this is an improvement, so this new "feature" can only mean two things:

  1.     it is a data harvesting scheme
  2.     another heavy handed "nudge" towards QB Online.

The solution to my email sending problem were:

re-download the last update (yeah right)

download a 632 Mb patch called qbwebpatch.exe

But it eventually boiled down "we break your install and then we ask you to pay us to fix it", as the chat rep kept insisting that my QB version Pro 2019 was a do-it-yourself version and if I needed support I would have to pay $299

And of course no promise made that paying for support would actually revert my QB install to the way things were a few days ago.

Long story short let me decide how I want to email my estimates and restore the functionality how things were a few days ago.

Maybelle,

I am using QB Desktop Pro 2019.

Please point me to a specific article that explains how I can revert to sending email from Outlook, NOT from QB desktop.

Thanks for your insights and feedback regarding the email services in QuickBooks, @wvmaster,

You should still be able to use the emailing function in QuickBooks Desktop using your Outlook Email. You can try setting up your outlook profile using the steps in this article: Connect your email to QuickBooks Desktop

Once you're down with the setup, you can start emailing your estimates and other sales forms.

Also, we want your voice to be heard and be put in action. If you have any product suggestions to our developers about our emailing service, go to the Help menu and select Send Feedback Online.

If you have additional questions about estimates or email templates, let me know in the comments below. I'll be glad to share some more insight to help your way around QuickBooks. Have a good day!

undesirable update forces me to change how I email my estimates, more friction!

As off Friday last week I was able to send email directly from Outlook, everything was configured inside QB to do just that.

On Saturday WB got updated.

The Outlook option is now missing from the Send Form My Preferences  window.

My Outlook version is the same as it was Friday last week, when it all worked.

The update Intuit pushed broke things.

None of the options in "Fix Outlook is missing" link are applicable:

1. I am using a version of Outlook that was compatible with QB 2019 Pro, at least before the Intuit "update"

2. there is NO issue with Outlook installation

3. My profile IS setup in Outlook

4. Outlook is the DEFAULT email program

5. This is QB desktop.

6. there is ONE profile that is set to be always used

7. there are NO issues with my Outlook

8. No I am not going to uninstall/reinstall Office and Quickbooks

9. I have edited the win.ini file,

Outlook is still missing as an option in Send Forms My Preferences.

I think you have enough information here to file a bug report, and get this fixed by those who created this problem to begin with.

So far I have wasted 5 hours of my life dealing with this, but things could have been a lot worse. I could have opted to pay the $299 the chat rep offered for support.

I appreciate you for providing the complete details about the issue of the emailing transaction through Outlook in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @wvmaster. This way, I can guide you on the actions you need to take care of this matter so you can get back to business in no time.

Based on the article you've provided, you've already performed almost all the suggested resolution. However, since Outlook is missing from the Send Form Preferences window, I'd recommend setting up your email service in QBDT again. This is to refresh the system after the update. You can perform Solution 3: Edit the mail profile in Windows again through this article: Fix Outlook is missing in send forms preferences.

In case the issue persists, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care team. They can securely pull up your account, identify the cause of the problem, and guide you with a fix. You'll first have to check out our support hours to ensure we can assist you on time. Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Go to the Help menu.
  3. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  4. Click Contact Us.
  5. Give a brief description of your issue, then select Let's talk.
  6. Choose a way to connect.

In the meantime, I'm also adding this article to further guide you in managing the growth of your business using QBDT: QuickBooks Help ArticlesIt includes topics about data security, banking, and expenses, to name a few. You can click the + More topics button to view other selections.

Let me know how it goes in the comments below. I'm just around to help if you have other concerns about emailing sales transactions through Outlook in QBDT. Take care always.

I had already made sure that Outlook only starts with one profile.

For some unknown reason the option to send by Outlook has returned.

Thinking it must have been another update.
