V 34.0 Desktop upgrade will not install, freezes even when temporarily shutting down Defender.
You have a problem.
Disabled all security. Update to V34.0 stalled in the usual location.
Downloaded supposedly the latest version of Tool Hub and installed. No Defender Exclusion option in that version. Makes us want to switch accounting systems. No excuse for these problems every time you update the software. And don't give us the registry explanation because we have lots of morecomplex software than Quickbooks that updates with no issue.
Installed latest Tool Hub. No Defender Exclusion option. All security turned off as well. Update continues to stall at Writing System registry Values. Windows 10 OS.
Thank you for your efforts in following the aforementioned solution provided, David. Since the issue persists, let's explore further with some additional troubleshooting methods that can help resolve this matter.
To begin, we recommended to uninstall and then reinstall your QuickBooks Desktop. At the same time, ensure you're using the latest version of our installer for this process. This will help resolve any software conflicts and make sure that you have access to the latest features and security enhancements.
Before we proceed, please download the latest version of QuickBooks installer and keep your license number on hand. Once done, let's now begin with the process.
Remove your QuickBooks
Once you have completed the uninstallation, proceed with reinstalling QuickBooks. It is important to note that during the reinstallation process, QuickBooks will automatically create new folders and rename the old ones.

Had to Un-install then reinstall the Tool Hub < to get that option ..
Weird but true ..
Thanks! That gave me the Defender Exclusion Option. Now to try it out....
Fully agree. Unless I can do the update without being connected to the internet, it's 100% irresponsible to expose my clients' data because I have to disable security protections (and contrary to our Written Information Security Plan, mandated by law, as well). I can understand this happening 20 years ago; in modern times it's unacceptable.
(Incidentally, I'm not sure which version number I was updating to or from, but it's on Windows 10 -- not limited to Windows 11, as was mentioned in the original post.)
OMG Intuit what a cluster you caused. Turning off A/V worked flawlessly. THANK YOU!!!!!
