Join nowTrying to e-file 1099s, but the app that QB Online says I need from the Microsoft Store: "qbks2 link" is not found. Has anyone else seen this problem and have a fix?
Hello there, @Carolina Brown.
Thanks for sharing your concern here in the Community. As an insight, e-filing 1099 using the QuickBooks app will give you errors.
To make sure you're able to e-file your 1099 successfully, I'd recommend using an updated-supported browser.
Here's an article that will guide you through creating and filing 1099. It also contains info on how to check your filing status and some answers to commonly asked questions.
Let me know if you have additional questions, @Carolina Brown. I'll be here to lend a hand.
To be clear, it is not allowing me to e-file at all. A second, but empty QBO shell pops up that says "Please wait while we load the 1099 E-File Service..." and then a Microsoft Box pops up that states "You'll need a new APP to open this QBKS2 link." When I select the "Look for an APP in the Microsoft Store", it finds no results.
I am following the correct directions, my system and browsers are all updated and exceed the system requirements.
Not sure what to make of your insight that using QBO will result in errors, but I need to be able to file my 1099s.
I appreciate you for the additional information you've provided above, @Carolina Brown. This way, I can guide you on the next action you can take to successfully e-file your 1099s in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
When you encounter an error when filing your 1099 forms through the QBO desktop app, I'd recommend pulling up your account using an updated-supported browser. From there, I can assure you that you'll smoothly create and e-file the said. Here's how:
After that, continue with the e-file process starting Step 4 in this article: Create and file 1099s using QuickBooks Online.
Once done, you'll be notified via email regarding your filing status. You can also check your filing status by visiting your 1099 E-File account.
I'm also adding this article to further guide you on how to troubleshoot possible 1099 issues in QuickBooks: Troubleshoot common 1099 issues. It includes topics about incorrect amounts showing on your 1099s and vendor reports.
Please let me know how it goes. Leave a comment below if you have other concerns about e-fling 1099s in QuickBooks or inquiries. I'm just around to help. Take care always.
I am having the exact same problem. Customer support for Quickbooks was useless. WTF
I had the same problem. The problem was only if I had signed on to QuickBooks Online with the Windows App icon on my desktop.
When I signed on to the full program with email and password I was able to send my 1099's with no problem.
I am getting the same error message as Carolina. I have followed all of the steps for setting up our 1099s, get to the screen for E-filing, and then get the same blank screen with the pop-up message about needing a new app for a "qbks2 link". I'm using a new laptop, and a Windows 10 system. I have updated versions of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox. So what else can I do to get the e-file process to work? Because of this error message that I don't know how to solve, I've missed your deadline for the discounted filing rates.
Thanks. I will try that.
I had to do it online as well not thru the app, it lets me access two of my three companies, the third company keeps returning with an error message Access denied. I am the admin on all three companies. Why would the online allow 2 of my 3 companies?????
Hi there, lisajter2.
Welcome to QuickBooks Community. I appreciate you for sharing detailed information so I can present accurate solutions.
Since you're the admin in all three companies and the third one keeps returning with an error message Access Denied, it might be your regular browser is experiencing some issues. With this, I recommend logging in to your QuickBooks account using a private browser. This is to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue, and private browsing doesn't store local files or cache.
Use these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using.
If it works in incognito, I recommend clearing the cache of your regular browser. This removes the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate. You can check this article to see the steps: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.
If the steps above didn't work, use another supported browser as alternatives.
If the issue continues to occur, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They have the tools to pull your account and investigate the cause of the error message.
Here's how to contact them:
Please refer to this article to see information on where you can find the payment information about 1099: What payments are excluded from a 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC?.
Please feel free to get in touch with me here for any additional assistance you need with the reconciliation. I'm always here to help. Take care!
I had the same error using the desktop version.
I logged in online and run the same process but did not finish (for other reasons)
When I came back the next day, I tried the desktop version again. To my surprise it worked this time
Thanks for following up and letting the rest of the thread know what happened in your account, LucyC. This info helps others know what actions to take next. I'm glad to hear you're no longer receiving that error message when filing your 1099s.
If you ever need additional assistance, I recommend checking out these QuickBooks Videos Tutorials. You can also check out the QuickBooks Blog for info about product updates and feature releases.
Of course you're always welcome to post your questions in this space as well. Myself and the rest of the Community are here to help!
Just log into QB online rather than using the desktop version and it goes right through.
I wish i had access to those tools. Customer support just transfers you around until you run out of daylight and they close. Each rep thinking I'm an idiot who hasn't tried private browsing in safari and incognito mode in chrome and cleared cache and cookies multiple times. And tried different devices and different ISPs. The 1099 efile is broken for some people and has typos. I can't even update the payment method despite qbo payroll charging me away every month and it goes through no problem.
Thank you this additional guidance because I am having the same exact issue. I will log into via the web browser verses using the QBO icon located on my desktop. I will try this now and my fingers are crossed!!
This is something that is important that QB should add in their instructions.
Kind Regards,
Quincy
If Intuit pushes one to use the desktop app as I was forced to, then why doesn't it work for 1099? DO NOT push clients to an application that cannot do a simple required function before you launch, or if you do make sure it works by the time tax season is here. UGH!
Thank you, your information solved my problem, I signed in the browser instead of the app.
