2021 1099s NEC & MISC not aligning

Called tech support and she couldn't find anything that worked. So I started messing around... :)

Anyone out there having issues printing 1099s?

Here's what worked for me...

1099 MISC -

before you print, align the form vertical +12

Print to PDF

Open PDF

Adjust size to Print 107%

1099 NEC

before you print, align the form vertical +5

Print to PDF

Open PDF

Adjust size to Print 107%

So as not to waste forms.... copy the printed forms to reg paper and give it a test run.

It's not perfect but will put the numbers where they belong and address is legible for post office.

2021 1099s NEC & MISC not aligning

It’s kind of you to share the trick for alignment issue on QB desktop. Is there ways around for QB Online?
I was on the phone with QB support team for 2+ hours and they couldn’t align the 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC to the forms I got from Office Depot.  He said “I suggest you to buy the forms from Intuit” for better alignment.
Unbelievable.

2021 1099s NEC & MISC not aligning

Hello there, Dieulam.

I understand your frustration with the alignment issue you're experiencing in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The form you have is from a different source and may not be formatted to align perfectly with QBO.

Additionally, misalignment when printing forms and transactions can result from a website or printer issue. Intuit recommends using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for printing. If you're experiencing difficulties, follow these steps:

For Chrome:

  1. Click on the Three vertical dots in the upper-right corner, then select Settings.
  2. Select Privacy and Security and then Site Settings.
  3. Pick Additional Content Settings, then PDF Documents.
  4. Enable Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome.
  5. Try printing your 1099s again.

Also, ensure Fit to Printable Area or Fit to Paper is not selected in the Scale drop-down arrow in the print window's More Settings.

For Firefox:

  1. Go to the Hamburger icon ≡, then choose Options on your Firefox.
  2. Select General.
  3. Find Portable Document Format (PDF) in the Applications section.
  4. Pick your PDF viewer from the drop-down arrow in the Action column.
  5. Print your 1099s again.

If you're using Microsoft Edge or Mac, refer to this article for the instructions: Print your 1099 and 1096 forms.

Refer to this guide for post-e-filing corrections: Correct or change 1099s in QuickBooks.

Moreover, you can run 1099 reports in QBO to identify who needs 1099s and display their payment totals.

Keep me updated on your 1099 concerns by leaving a reply below. I'm available 24/7 in the Community to assist you further.

Thank you, Maybelle.
The QB support team remote accessed and tried the same ways you mentioned but it did not work last time. And I tried again last night on both browsers and still misaligned. See attached for the MISC ( I cover the confidential information). The 1099 NEC has the same issue.

I tried to print from the export version as well but don’t have PDF Pro or Editor version to move the boxes around to align.

I appreciate the steps you've taken as you print your 1099 NEC and also the additional information, Dieulam. I know some workaround that can help you print this.

As I've used my resources, it seems that making the printing alignment in QuickBooks Online is unavailable. However, you can still adjust it within your browser settings. Regarding these adjustments, I recommend seeking some help from your IT support to adjust it accordingly since they have the skills and expertise to do this.
