I will be working from home in the upcoming months and need to access QB Desktop which is located on my desktop at the office. Is there a way this can be done without having to purchase a multi-user license? Also, my office desktop is a PC and my home laptop is a MAC. Will this be a problem?
It's nice to see you here, ITW2224.
I'm here to share details as to how you can use QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) on both your Mac and Windows computers.
QBDT for Windows and QBDT for Mac are two different platforms. To use QuickBooks on your Windows computer, you'll have to purchase a new license with the same year version of your QBDT for Mac to work with your company file. Then, you're unable to work on a company file at the same time.
When you open your company file to either of the versions you have, you need to go through the conversion process each time. You can refer to either of the articles below for the step-by-step guide:
In case you need reference on how to downloaded and installed the QuickBooks 2021 version, just click the given links. Then, ensure that your computer/laptop meets the system requirements so you can run QuickBooks Desktop without any issues.
Here's a link that will help you learn more about how the QBDT for Windows works: Help articles for QuickBooks Desktop.
Also, I'll leave you with a guide to know anything about QuickBooks Desktop for Mac: QuickBooks Desktop Mac 2021 User’s Guide.
Feel free to go back to this thread if you need anything else while working with the QuickBooks Desktop software. Have a good one.

You will need another solution to access your file in multiuser mode.
So it seems it may be a bit easier if both computers were the same, either PC or Mac. Thanks for your help!
