Accountant's Copy

My accountant tells me she cannot open QBX files. Can I either email or print an Accountant's Copy in PDF format?

Accountant's Copy

I'll help you with your QBX file, gremoo.

Did your accountant receive an error? What happened? If you haven’t already, you can run the verify and rebuild data utilities and update your QuickBooks to fix any issues before you create a QBX copy again.

About your other question, yes you can email an accountant's copy by attaching it. You can also share it using a USD drive, through a cloud-sharing service, or through our Accountant's File Transfer Service if your accountant is a ProAdvisor.

On the other hand, we're unable to print an accountant's copy or save one as a PDF file.

I'm just right here if you have additional questions. Take care and have a good one!

Just to clarify, is your accountant familiar to use QB Desktop Accountant edition? Make sure your accountant is using a version that supports yours.

Accountant's Copy

I switched QuickBooks from the desktop version to the online version, but I can't see the functions for creating and sending accountant copies. How can I make an accountant copy like the desktop version? Or should I share the data with my accountant in another way?

The function to create and send accountant copies is not an option in QuickBooks Online, @TBSIHQ. I'll share some insights about this.

Yes, you'll need to share the data with your accountant since QuickBooks Online doesn't have the option to create and send accountant copies. If you haven't added an accountant, you may follow the steps below so they can review, make corrections, and collaborate on any issues you may have with your books.

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as a primary admin.
  2. Click the Gear icon , then select Manage Users.
  3. In the Manage Users page, select the Accounting Firms tab.
  4. Enter the email address of your accountant, then select Invite.

They will receive an email about the invitation. Once accepted, the status on the Manage Users page changes from Invited to Active. Then they will get a link to access your QuickBooks Online company and do the accountant's copy. For more details, open this article: Add accountant users in QuickBooks Online.
