If you're from the 'Quickbooks Team' just don't bother. The only help to be had here is from other IT Professionals that actually understand the issues we're talking about.
It's ok. QB is more interested in Data Mining than providing a quality product. Their support is complete trash. I appreciate the attempt.
What support? Are they providing support here or aggravating all of us more with their stupidity?
Any specific concern?
this is the error I am having, I do not feel that Intiut wants to help us with this, has there been a resolution yet? I am not wanting to give my users admin rights, but they need to access this software without being asked.
this is a HUGE securit flaw? is there no fix?
I understand the requirement for the Administrator password after updates in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), MaxHeadroom. I'm here to share insights about this.
In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), entering the admin password after updates serves as a security measure to ensure that only authorized users can access and modify sensitive information within the software.
That said, the option to remove the Password Security is unavailable. As a workaround, we can exit to a multi-user mode. All users must update in a single-user mode. After the updates, you can revert to multi-user mode.
Here's how to switch to single-user mode:
I've added this article to learn more about the tasks and features available in single or multi-user mode: Features available and tasks you can perform in single or multi-user mode.
Our doors are always open to assist you if you have questions besides the admin password. Looking forward to helping you out again.
That does not resolve the issue though? does it. Because we dont know when this will happen.
so when they get a prompt, they have to back out? they can't it will not let them open QB until they type in an admin password.
why is this such a problem? I have users on Terminal server, they do not have admin acces.
so if the users do not had admin access? what is the fix? are you confirming that there is none.
can I log in as then, type in the admin credentials, sent to single user mode? then do what?, then I go back to multiuser mode?
After i do whatever the heck you are asking, will I have to never worry about this again, or is this just for 1 update, meaning that your help does not actualy help.
beyond frustrated here, Please tell me a EASY solution, where an Admin can set it and forget it!
Allow me to chime into this discussion and provide more information regarding the Administrator Password in the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), MaxHeadroom.
In the recent updates of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), you have to enter an admin password when someone wants to access your company files, as stated by my colleague above, for security purposes.
Since you have a user who's on a terminal server, I suggest creating a User Role for them and any other users who need access to company files. This way, there's no need to share your admin credentials, and everyone can still access the necessary files.
Here's how you add a user role in your QBDT:
You can gain more understanding of how to create roles in QuickBooks Desktop by reading this article: Create and manage users and roles in QuickBooks Desktop.
In addition, read this article to know more about customizing user roles and the user's limitations in QBDT: QuickBooks Desktop users and restrictions.
Return to this thread if you need more help with the administrator password in QBDT, MaxHeadroom. I'll be here to answer them as soon as I can.
You've hit the nail on the head. At least 1 engineer is crap! and has some bad code that creates this issue. It's not every update, and in this case, I have a system with Enterprise 23 and Premier 23 installed. Only the Premier version is experiencing this issue.
Furthermore, I've given "Everyone" full access to C:\Program files\Intuit, Program data\intuit and gave the QBdataService user admin rights and full control on all folders in the data folders area.
I've been seeing this issue for at least 3 years now. I'm an IT Support professional and used to support software engineers. I can almost guarantee some relic has bad code that is added randomly. Other developers probably remove it sometimes, but it's never gone completely.
They have user rolls already, what role perhaps should I remove.
I am looking at this and just wondering, so we have 10 users who log in from time to time, i already created users and their respective roles, so what is this going to do?
Thanks for joining the thread, MaxHeadroom.
Let me assist you with this and provide ways to help you.
To start, may I know if all users were affected by the admin? If so, your company file may have encountered issues. In that case, we can use the tool in the QuickBooks Tool Hub to fix it.
You can follow these steps first to download and install it:
To learn how to use the tools, refer to the Step 2 section of this article: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.
However, if not all users are affected by it, we can delete and recreate the user.
Here's how:
Furthermore, here's an article you can browse for you to be able to add, edit, and troubleshoot QuickBooks Desktop Pro and Premier user login and restrictions: QuickBooks Desktop users and restrictions.
