Cannot Edit Invoice (Error)

I can help you edit your invoice, NickFury8458.

I would like to ask what's the error message you've received when trying to edit the invoice.

Meanwhile, we can do troubleshooting steps to help resolve this. Let's start by using a private browser and try to edit your invoice from there. Private browsing disables browser's cache. If it works, go back to the regular browser and clear the cache. Too much cache results to unusual behavior. Also, try to use a different browser like Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, or Mozilla Firefox.

Please let me know how it goes. I'd be happy to help you further. Have a great day!

Cannot Edit Invoice (Error)

Hello, I have a similar problem but it relates to a recurring invoice that I need to Edit.

The template is used by QBO to send a monthly invoice to my vendor  which includes the 3 month’s advance payment.

Should I Delete the first invoice that included the monthly amount due and create a new invoice or Close the original invoice? Thanks.

Thanks for joining us in this thread, 2017ops1.

I recommend creating and sending a statement to show any charges and payments made prior to the date your invoice was created. I'm here to help and guide you through.

Let's add the Account Summary to invoice by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and Custom Form Styles.
  2. Locate the invoice form in the list and click on the Edit link under Action.
  3. In the Content tab, click on the pencil icon for the middle section to edit.
  4. Under Account summary, mark to select the Show on invoice checkbox. If you are using an imported invoice style, this option may not appear. You must turn the option on in the Master/Standard form
  5. Select Done.

To create and send a statement using the Balance Forward option, you can refer to these steps:

  1. Go to Sales and choose the Customers tab.
  2. Locate and click on the customer's name.
  3. From the New transaction drop down, select Statement.
  4. Choose Balance Forward in the Statement Type drop down.
  5. Set the date and click on Apply.
  6. Then review the statement by clicking on the Print or Preview.
  7. Once you're done reviewing, select Close.
  8. Choose Save and send.

I'm linking this article for more information about the Account Summary on the invoice.

Cannot Edit Invoice (Error)

I'm here to help check the error you're getting, @ulisesmeza82.

If you're experiencing this issue when trying to edit your invoices using the web browser, then, we can try the basic troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue.

To start, you try accessing your account using a private browser to help us verify if the problem is within the browser you're using.

To use a private browser, here’s how:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Internet Explorer: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If it works fine, you have to clear your browser’s cache to optimize the browser’s performance and your QBO experience.

If you're getting the same result while using a private browser, I recommend switching to another supported browser.

However, if the problem continues, I recommend getting in touch with out Support Team to check and investigate this further securely. For the support's contact information, you can check it here: Contact the QuickBooks Online Customer Support team.

Let me know if you have any other QuickBooks questions. I'd be glad to help!

Cannot Edit Invoice (Error)

Hi,

I have a similar problem. I had to edit a saved invoice, but was unable to "add lines". When I click the "add lines" button, nothing happens. No error messages.

I have clear my browser cache, browser history, restarted my pc, but it doesn't help. I'm using Chrome, not sure what else I can do.

Thanks for joing us here, Caroline2019.

This is very unusual that you're unable to edit an invoice. Clearing the cache should fix this.

If you have other browsers available, you may use them. Also, make sure they are updated cause old versions can also result to errors.

In addition, I suggest reaching out to our Customer Support Team so they can further investigate this issue.

  1. Go to Help and click Contact Us.
  2. Enter Edit invoice and select Let's talk.
  3. Choose either Start a message or Get callback.
