They have already given the answer in the earlier post. "As soon as possible"

Doesn't Apple have pre-release versions of their new OSs that they seed to developers so developers can be sure their software is compatible "when" the new OS comes out???

Yes, they do, however, generally speaking it seems that Quickbooks doesn't allocate the resources necessary to prepare for the launch and desktop users suffer as a result...case in point a few years ago when my desktop version was incompatible for over a month during the crazy holiday sales period.

Yeah, I was being sarcastic. I do IT for a living. From what I understand, QuickBooks 2021 revenue was under $13 billion so I could see how allocating resources to keep their flagship product current might be difficult.

Yes, it would take away from bonuses. Of course, they just want to force us into subscriptions is their most likely rationale.

A couple of things.

1) Having reported the error, I am already on Ventura—an OS which has new features I need in my workflow. So, suggesting that I "hold off" on installing it is moot.

2) Today, R11 was available for install when I launched QB. After updating, these errors are still present. R11 did not fix them.

As a corollary to this, the release notes link in the update dialog ( https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/update-products/release-notes-quickbo... ) does not show R11 information, but only up to R10.

I'm running R10 on my Mac and a QuickBooks update appeared when I launched it this morning but I declined. Later when I had time to run the update I told QuickBooks to check for updates and it said I was current. Sounds like they released an update, realized it was buggy and removed it. "QuickBooks 20.0.9.982 R10 is currently the newest version available." says QuickBooks 2021 Desktop Mac .

Yep. We released an update for Ventura, discovered there was a bug with files that use the RMSD window (the "reconcile" window for e-Invoice payments where you download them from the server to have the paid ones entered into your QB file).  We then pulled the release to fix it.

Its been fixed and tested and I'm hoping the update will go out today.  Its just a matter of getting everything signed, notarized, and other processes that can sometimes fail and cause delays.  You only see the update notification on launch.   You can launch QB without opening a file by holding down the option key (I think its the option key).

As far as the bits about "Apple providing pre-release versions so developers can test it" - yes, they do that. And they need testing!  Its not like the release the master release candidate, fully formed, months in advance.  We get to test Apple software that is full of bugs for months and we submit bug fix requests and meanwhile try to find work arounds for issues as we never know when Apple will decide a version is "final".  We got a week's notice this time.  But we were ready... except for this bug that slipped through.

Even though we have the fixes in time we still have to test it. On all versions that are supported (2020 through 2023 currently). On all macOS versions that are supported for each QB Mac version - its a large list.  And there are tens of thousands of tests.  It takes time.  Things aren't helped by two different CPU types (Intel and M1) and by limitations on VMs on M1s (Apple only allows two).

But.. no one facing an issue or waiting for compatibility ever really cares about this. All you care about is getting the bug fix and the Ventura compatibility.  We are working hard on that and it should be available very soon.  But in general its wise to hold off on the newest macOS version until you've verified the software you are using supports it.

Although I can empathize with the "developer's lament," it is hardly Apple alone that does this. Every software developer that themselves has third-party developers does exactly the same thing, Intuit included. Intuit has not, and never will, hold back releasing a new version or update to a software product like QuickBooks just so that their third party integrations and other toolmakers can build against the release version. They release GM RCs with a small amount of lead time to shakedown major regressions and give those third parties a little headway, but the release timeframe is based on Intuit's needs, not those of third parties.

Thanks for joining the thread, @billhdz.  I'm going to provide some extra details regarding Quickbooks Desktop Mac 2021 and how it interacts with Ventura.

Yes, QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2021 is compatible with macOS Ventura 13.0. However, we can't promise that QB for Mac 2021 will function seamlessly or will run without any issues.

Thank you for posting in the Community, @officemanager07.

As of now, there is an ongoing issue for some of our customers and our developers about updating their Operating System (OS) to Mac Ventura. We appreciate your effort in asking here before updating it.

In the meantime, I recommend holding off on your OS update to avoid getting the same problem. You can also refer to this thread for updates regarding the OS Mac Ventura compatibility with QuickBooks: QuickBooks for Mac with Ventura.

Let me know if you have more questions about Desktop system requirements. I’m just a few clicks away. Stay safe!

I'm running the latest version of QB Mac Plus 2023 (v22.0.2 R3.2) on Ventura and am still having the issues that have been reported here, with multiple tabs opening when I enter invoices, as well as random crashes. I'm backing up often and checking those backups -- the reason I upgraded my version and my MacOS is that QB Mac Plus 2023 was all of a sudden (as of last few days in October) creating corrupted versions of the file, and I lost a few days of data that had to be re-entered. That was a bad experience, but fortunately I was able to re-enter the data, as there wasn't much lost.

That problem was resolved when I upgraded to Ventura but now I'm dealing with the tabs issue and what appears to be general instability of the software, which is very disconcerting.

Is there another update coming soon to address the tabs issue?

I can see how you want QuickBooks to work perfectly for your business, juliepascal.

If you have fully read this thread, you'll discover that some of our customers are experiencing issues when using QuickBooks Mac on Ventura. Although we're unable to determine the main cause of a specific issue, our developers are making all the possible solutions to make QuickBooks Mac work seamlessly.

As what @Intuit Brooks provided, Apple provides pre-release versions so developers can test them. This means we'll have to test Apple software that is full of bugs for a period of time and submit bug-fix requests. Thus, we'll have to try to find workarounds for issues as we never know when Apple will decide whether a version is final.

In the meantime, you'll have to make sure that your computer meets the system requirements before installing QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. This way lesser compatibility issues will happen.

I'm adding this article to further guide you in effectively managing your business using QBDT for Mac: Help guide for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

New situation. My boss has a MacBook Pro and updated her system to Ventura and is also using QB Mac Plus 2022 Desktop. Now she cannot print any reports. It will not go to the printer. Is there a patch for this?

Hello there,

I understand the importance of printing reports for your boss' business. I'm here to share some information about using macOS Ventura in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Mac 2022.

It has been mentioned that we found some issues after releasing an update for Ventura. Based on our developer’s preliminary testing, the operating system mentioned is functional. However, users may experience some issues with the menus, tabs, including printing.

In the meantime, we’re unable to provide the turnaround time as to when this will be available. Rest assured, we’re working hard to go through various procedures to address all the concerns shared in this thread.

I'm cheering your business on to continued success. Please don't hesitate to add details below if you need further assistance about this. I'll be right back with more details to help you.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think at this time she will probably uninstall Ventura. We're getting to the end of the year and as a small business she needs to be able to print out reports.
