Congrats to all of you that have had success doing the conversion
I tried this 60 days ago and after 10 hours of excuses from over 6 QB team members i gave up

Let the merry-go-round for _____________(fill in the blank)
Which QBD year version do you have?
Update to previous post: ExportMyBooks is GREAT. $200 to get current year and last, hated paying for it, but it did the job easily and completely.
My guess is if you have large data files (as in my case here), you'll have problems with the migration tool. I converted a client with much smaller data files and no c.card transactions a couple months ago using the migration tool and it worked fine.
If anyone out there is thinking about converting TO QBO from QBD, just upload the last 2 years and no more. You will save yourself a lot of headache all around.
The migration tool I was told to download doesn't work at all anymore unless you pay for a 3rd party app. I have a customer who closed his business earlier this year. The company switched to QBO in 2012. I wanted to switch their file from QBO to QBDT so I could cancel his the subscription and still have a file in case of audit, etc. The QB migration tool would download, but the file that downloaded would not import as it said it was invalid. I finally scheduled a call with PA tech support and was told Intuit is discontinuing desktop so all the tools that would have been available to him to assist me he no longer has access to. He said I would need a 3rd party app - which I know are expensive. I got him to try to reach out to the migration department. He had a specialist on the phone but he refused to speak with me since they will now only help customers moving FROM QBDT to QBO not the other way around. I mean WTH, how about people who purchase QBO on a trial basis and want to switch back?? You mean Intuit now wants them to purchase a tool? I'm beyond frustrated. I wish there was another program to steer my customer's to as this is beyond egregious to simply cut-off support.
What year version of QB Desktop do you have? My client converted their data last month using QB Desktop 2021. If you don't have the version yet, you can use the trial version to be sure.
