How to fix Error 404 - page not found? It has prevented me from seeing employee details and any payroll tax information

The error 404 usually appears when the web page you're trying to reach could not be found on the server. Rest assured, I got some troubleshooting steps to isolate and fix this issue.

We can start with checking if your computer is connected to the internet, and accessing your QuickBooks Online (QBO) in a private browser. This usually resolves any browser-related issues. Let me show you how.

To open a private window, you can refer to these keyboard shortcuts:
 

• Press keys: Ctrl + Shift + N (Google Chrome browser)
• Press keys: Ctrl + Shift + P (Mozilla Firefox & Microsoft Edge browser)
• Press keys: Command + Shift + N (Safari browser)

If you're able to view your employees' detail and payroll tax information, I suggest clearing your regular browser's cache. This will delete all the junk files and helps the browser to function efficiently. If the issue persists, I recommend using other supported browsers. This way, we can see and check if this is a browser-integrated issue.

If this is not the case, I suggest contacting our Support team. This way, you'll be added to the list (INV-51603) of affected users and be notified via email of any updates.

We have tried all of the troubleshooting steps to no avail.  I am already part of Investigation-51603 and have contacted support daily for a month - again, to no avail.  Has anyone found any solutions to this?  Has anyone created a new company and imported all of their data?  Has anyone switched to the desktop version instead of the online version?  How long has this investigation been active?  I've been part of it since May 6, 2021 with no answers.  Thank you.

Also - I'm not sure if this would help the solution engineers - this appears to have happened when we changed the Master Admin for the account and changed the billing credit card for the subscription.  Thanks again.

This happened to us when we changed billing details earlier this week, but the Master Admin is the same.

After checking, our engineers are still working on the fix. I would recommend contacting our Support team, so they can add your account to the list of affected users for immediate updates. They have the tools to do that.
 

1. Click on Help and click the Search tab.
2. Click Contact Us at the bottom.
3. Enter Error 404 - page not found? in the box provided.
4. Click Continue and choose Chat or Callback.

Since you're still unable to get rid of the error message, I'd still recommend contacting our Customer Care Support. With their tools, one of our specialists has the tool to pull up your account on file and create a ticket letting our engineering team investigate what is the reason behind this error message.

Sadly I have contacted your tech support - about every other day for the last 7.5 weeks.  Still no resolution.

Has anyone created a new company using their same EIN and have that work?
