How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

If you are using a version of QB desktop, and using QB as your payroll processor you may be out of luck on this and will be forced into a QB logon. Switch to ADP for payroll. They do a better job anyway.

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

You know, I get pissed off, every time I read your reply Steph at EC. Obviously you have NO clue of what these people are talking about. You obviously have not read all the posts and have no idea of what QuickBooks has been putting their users through. People like you are the reason QuickBooks feels they can do this to their users. Instead of making mockery of the people on this post, unless you have something useful to say, just keep your sarcastic comments to yourself. Andy

I sincerely apologize in advance if this is in bad taste.

We are moving to a new practice management platform with built in accounting. As the Rev. Dr. MLK said, free at last, free at last, . . .free at last.

Please tell me which desktop software you moved to.  I need to be "free" to.  I am completely fed up with Quick books, as it looks like a lot of other users are as well.  I am desperate for a change!

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

I am using Desktop Pro 2021.  I have multiple business accounts set up.  Once I upgraded to 2021, now all of sudden I am having to login to my Intuit accounts for just one of the company files.  Why am I having to log in to Intuit when I am using a Desktop version?

Everybody on this forum is asking the same question. "Why am I having to log in to Intuit when I am using a Desktop version"?

Your security is our top priority, AndyTJ.

At Intuit, we take your safety seriously. We're here to ensure to keep your data and privacy safe. This is for users who indicated that they are the Admin/Primary for the file. Also, this is an extra layer of security that is implemented in all Intuit products, not just with QuickBooks. This way, your data gets protected as well as your customers’ and employees’ information recorded in QuickBooks.

For more info, proceed to the Intuit account section of this article: QuickBooks Desktop Intuit account

Additionally, I've included these that'll help you learn more about managing your account safely and easily:  Manage Intuit Account.

I'm here to help you if you have additional concerns. We'll respond as soon as we can.

"Your security is our top priority."

I know this is basically a mantra senior management has instructed you to say, but I want to comment on that idea.

Here is an important fact:  You cannot provide good security if we are no longer your customers.  With this in mind, you should provide the appropriate level of security vs convenience desired by your customers.

Andy TJ, the Borg responded with the usual statement, "we take your safety seriously....".  No they don't.  If they did, you would not be required to log in to use software PURCHASED by you to use on your PC.  The Borg has no legitimate reason to require you to sign and expose confidential files on your PC.

Smash a "like" for all other members posting objections to this intrusion.  Respond to all Qbooks personnel telling them they are wrong.  Tell them Quickbooks CUSTOMERS do not support mandatory sign-ins.

To Quickbooks TirzaC (with the Level 5 rating), you have a choice to be part of the solution.  Tell management and corporate to change this policy.  Now.  Hundreds have objected, yet QB continues.  Hundreds have left the QB fold, thousands will follow.  You can be part of the solution or part of the Borg.  Choose wisely.

Well, TirzahC, although you may believe what you are saying, there are those who simply do not agree. “At Intuit, we take your safety seriously. We're here to ensure to keep your data and privacy safe.” What you are actually doing provides no additional safety for my data or my privacy. In fact anytime a third party is able to access my network a vulnerability is created for that party, or some nefarious fourth party, to gain access to my data and violate my privacy. That’s why my network is protected by both hardware and software firewalls. Physical access is controlled. It’s why we have closed all ports not specifically needed for the conduct of our business. We don’t support Telnet, or FTP, or anything else that we don’t actually need. Given the above, how, exactly, would allowing you, Intuit, into my system improve my data safety or privacy? It simply would not. You may be able to sell that story to someone who is unsure of the facts, but clearly there are plenty of people using QB Desktop that know what they’re doing and don’t want your help in this regard.

Intuit could have offered this as an option for those who wish this sort of service. You did not. Had you done so I would have simply said “thanks but no thanks.” The fact that you installed it without the knowledge or consent of desktop users can only mean that you intended to force users to give you access to their systems. For what real purpose? The very lack of transparency suggests it was not to benefit users, but to benefit Intuit. Bad on you!

Instead of forcing a login perhaps you should give people a MFA to accomplish. Thats is all your attempting to do in one of the most least thought out ways. Do not force your security on people, give them to option to opt in. And password - password authentication is not a form of multi-factor. I reminds me of Verizon (who's policies are also ridiculous ) that even when I know my password I have to answer a security question and enter pin also .

Just use a service that you can provide to your customers, do not create a situation that cripples the program if we refuse compliance.

Actually this was helpful.  At least now I can stop those ANNOYING pop-ups.  But it still doesn't solve the tremendous productivity-killer of having to login to my DESKTOP account every time I open a QB file.  I am in and out of various QB files ALL DAY and this is wasting valuable minutes that ADD UP.  No offense to the employees that work in this company but I can't stand it.

Right, and how come all of a sudden? I have been using the desktop version for years. They are cooking up a way to charge you.

That is not true. The box will not close down, and forces me to log on to get into my 2nd or 3rd company.

I have QB Pro Desktop 2021, and it keeps freezing up whenever I try to log into Intuit Online and enter a password.  There is no way to "x" out of the logon window for me.  Then when I enter a password, the program freezes and I have to go to Task Manager to end it.

RE: To disable the automatic updating feature, you can follow these steps below:

And then you give steps to disable updates that don't work, as seen in your screenshot, where disabling automatic updates... is disabled. You can't even follow your own solution...??

Your post:

OK, then, why is turning off automatic updates...disabled?

MJ00 - Not sure what you were responding to here, but if you are referring to the pop-up window demanding login to Intuit to continue entering an Alt-F4 while in that window will close it so you can go on with your work without logging in to Intuit. Alt-F4 is a Windows command function not one controlled by QB Desktop.

Good Luck!

This is an excellent suggestion and one that I would recommend to all Quickbooks Desktop users. It means that you're stuck with the annoying login popup every so often, but it prevents Intuit from further messing with your software. If, like me, you want to disable automatic updates after doing this and before rebooting you can open taskmanager click on the task names column, scroll down to where you'll find 2 tasks starting with "QB..." and just end those.

You are so correct, there is no shown way to close the box.  However, if you click on the box with the right mouse button a menu should pop up that allows you to select "Close".  It is a hassle and creates more work for the end user, but it is the only option I've found as a work around.

Worked up? Really?  Any time someone keeps asking marketing questions or log in pop ups - without the "close box option", trying to force you to do something - it gets annoying.

You expect me to buy this, if you offered a free cloud backup I could choose then maybe but this is purely a hook in my book, to force us to stay connected to Intuit so you can manage subscriptions. Your taking our safety out of our control in my opinion. As far as I know its so you can paw through our stuff and report to the government.. I have lost all respect for Intuit.

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

We have been fighting this fight for more than a year, and sadly Intuit are deaf.

We buy a desktop product for OFFLINE SECURITY and Intuit want us to log in for accessing our offline files.

DUH....

The only way that still works is to block the program from calling home in the firewall, not something the average user is comfortable doing.

Please, please help us Intuit.

We do not want a subscription, we do not want our accounting program to call home to you.
