If "20" ios typed as the year part of date QB defaults to "1920". It used to default to "2020". What logic is there behind defaulting the date to over a century ago?

Welcome back to the Community, @rt2.

If you're using a web browser, try signing into your QuickBooks Online (QBO) using a private browser (incognito). There are times that it is already full of frequently accessed page resources, causing some unusual responses.

Here's how:

  • Press Ctrl Shift (Google Chrome).
  • Ctrl Shift (Firefox).
  • Control Option (Safari).

If everything looks good, return to your default browser and perform a clear cache to refresh the system. However, if the issue persists, try using other supported browsers.

On the other hand, if you're using QBO App, consider checking out these articles that contains detailed steps on how to clear data:

Thanks for the response. The situation happens regardless of whether or not your clear the cache.  This is something that has been changed in the logic served by the QB server.  I have used the desktop app, Firefox and Chrome and with caches cleared. It's the same with all of them. Also, a day or two ago, if you typed, for example, "26/2" into a date field, the software would interpret this as being the 26 February 2021 (if you typed it in 2021). Now it throws an exception (that is does not accept the date at all).

If you type "26/2/20". It interprets it as being, "26/02/1920". This is pretty silly, defaulting as it does to over a century ago. This is a logic issue in the QB program.  Something has changed (and clearly has not been properly tested) since a day or two ago, when it would have interpreted it as being "26/02/2020". Similarly "31/12/20" is interpreted as meaning, "31/12/1920", instead of "31/12/2020", which is obviously what is intended.

It's a bug and Intuit are supposedly going to fix it.

Why don't the Quickbooks Team members on this forum carefully read the posts.  If you had read the thread, you'd have seen that I had done what you are suggesting and that this is a known issue that you are supposedly fixing!
