intuit printer library - the form your are about to print does not fit on the page

When trying to save an invoice or po or any form as a PDF and print or send to a customer I receive the following message:

Intuit Printer Library - the form you are about to print does not fit on the page. you may wish to modify your print settings such as portrait/landscape. Click OK to print anyway or Cancel to skip printing this form

When I preview the form it is correct and I can print it but sending it directly from QB via email to my customer does not work also to safe as a PDF to my desktop does not work

checked all printer settings, template settings etc all seems correct, it worked fine until yesterday nothing changed no updates etc, I am the only one using QB  any ideas how to fix that?

thanks

Hello there, @infogaby. I'm here to lend a hand with your printing issue.

The error The Form you are about to print does not fit on the page.” happens due to the following reasons:

  • The paper size or orientation in the printer’s settings does not coincide with that of QuickBooks Printer Setup.
  • The settings of QuickBooks Printer Setup for the PDF print could also generate Intuit Printer Library Error.
  • The template might be sized incorrectly.

To get this fix, ensure that the orientation printer's settings match with the QuickBooks Printer setup and correct the paper size of the template for the forms.

To check the printer settings, here's what you'll need to do:

  1. On your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) account.
  2. Go to the File menu.
  3. Choose Printer Setup.
  4. Click on the form to be printed from the list.
  5. From the Printer Setup window, click Options.
  6. Ensure that printer is set to print on letter size paper and portrait orientation in the window showing Paper and Paper attributes
  7. Click OK.
  8. From the same Printer Setup window, there is an option of Printer Type. Select the option that equals your printer from the drop-down arrow.
  9. Click OK and check the error status.

Hi thanks all the settings are correct in the printer setup. It looks fine when I do a print preview and it prints correctly from there, but sending an e-mail with an attachment of the invoice does not work.

It just happened 3 days ago nothing changed no updates  etc.

Any other suggestions?

Hi there, infogaby.

Let me help and make sure you can print and send sales forms to your customer.

You can use the QuickBooks Print & Print Repair Tool from the QuickBooks Tool Hub to fix this type of issue. If you've installed Tool Hub before, you can follow the steps below to run the QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool. Make sure to close your QuickBooks before running the repair tool.

Here's how:

  1. In the QuickBooks Tool Hub, select Program Problems.
  2. Choose QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool. It will take time to run.
  3. Attempt to print, email, or save as a PDF from QuickBooks Desktop again.

If the issue persists, proceed on to the Solution 2 given on this article: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.

intuit printer library - the form your are about to print does not fit on the page

Hello,

I too have this exact same problem.  I get this message when trying to print my merchant credit card receipt to a star printer.  I have to click "ok" about 4 times to get to the actual print.  Everything thing prints perfectly.  I just cannot get rid of that issue of having to click "ok" several times.  I called support at Star printer and they logged in and everything on their end is set and working perfect.  They said it was a quickbooks issue.  Problem is, when you call QB they don't seem to know any more than I do.  They just seem to Google or research the issue like we do and never cure the problem.  Any ideas on how to get rid of this error would be greatly appreciated.

Update: I called Quickbooks tech Support AGAIN and had them get on with me using Glance.  As USUAL with Quickbooks, I know more then all their people do.  Guy just had me do every basic BS thing every tech person does and outs you on hold 5 times.  Did you usual hang up because as USUAL QB Support SUCKS!!!!  They never know how to help anyone.  After 30 years of using QB you can tell within 2 minutes the people on the phone don't know anything more than basic QB BS stuff everyone knows.  Fix this simple isse QB it's obvious many have this problem.  My setting are 100% good and the final printed Merchant receipt is perfect.  It just makes me click 'OK" 5 times before it prints.
