Issues with saving and closing

If I go into say a payment record only to just view it and then close it, my browser will will look like it's closing it but only shows a blank white window. I'd have to refresh the window, but it takes me back to the main window instead of where I was originally at. Then I have to filter my search again and it's become really annoying! It's wasting my time and causing a lot of frustration when I have to redo my search repeatedly.

I have noticed it doing that when I would update something from the categorized bank feed list as well. The only time where I see no issues with this is if I do any edits directly in the register window.

I've never had any issues like this before. I feel like this is only happening because QB keeps updating their system to show us these new looks for the invoices & reports. I don't like it, it's too big, and it's causing issues. I know I can't be the only one who is experiencing this every time I save and close an item, or just closing an item in an area of QB.

Please leave the looks alone. Or give people the option to stay with the old classic look.

Thanks for updating us on this, @KC2022. I completely understand how frustrating it can be when the software and the features you rely on don't work as expected, and I want you to know that your experience matters to us.

System updates in QuickBooks, like in many software applications, serve several purposes to ensure the software remains functional and up-to-date. These additions are crucial and have been designed to meet the needs of the majority of users to manage their financial tasks with maximum efficiency.

If you don't want the new look for your invoice, you have the option to switch back to the old layout where you are used to. But please know that once you've switched to the old/classic experiences on the invoice, we cannot opt back into the new experiences.

To switch to the Old layout:

  1. Go to +New
  2. Select Invoice
  3. At the top right of the form, select Old layout.

Check out this article for more details: See What’s New with Estimates and Invoices in QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, since the solutions provided by my colleague above didn't work on your end, I highly suggest reaching out to our Customer Support Team and talk with Live Agent support. They have the necessary tool to pull up your account in a secure environment and further look into the root cause of the issue. To contact them, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Help icon in the top right-hand corner.
  2. Press the Contact Support button.
  3. Enter your question in the box and hit Let's talk.
  4. Choose the best way you'll want to reach out to us.

They can only accommodate you Mondays to Fridays from 6 AM to 6 PM PT and Saturdays from 6 AM to 3 PM PT.

Furthermore, I've added this article if you want to add logos to your sales forms to help establish your company's brand and personality: Add, customize, or remove logos on sales forms.

Issues with saving and closing

This is not what we want you to experience, @KC2022. I can see the inconvenience this has caused you and if I were in your shoe, I'd be frustrated as system issues like this can take some of our time and cause delays to our business activities. Let's explore some possible solutions to address this concern.

While I understand how you wanted to go back to old layouts of QuickBooks Online as you're used to it already and you find it more convenient however, system upgrades are made to improve our users' overall experience as it's based on the majority's needs, adapting to new technology's capabilities.

With regard to your QuickBooks Online screen suddenly turning into a blank white window, let's go ahead and check if this is a browser-related issue by logging into your account using a private window since whenever you visit a website, it saves some information from the web page in its cache and cookies. These files allow the websites you visit most often to load faster.

Here’s how to do the private browsing:

  • Safari: Control + Option + P
  • Google Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Firefox or Internet Explorer: Ctrl + Shift + P

When you're able to access information without any interruption, it's safe to say that it's being caused by the browser. No worries, clearing your regular browser's cache will do the trick.

However, if the issue persists even with private browsing, you'll initially have to try switching to another browsing application that meets the system requirements.

Here's a list of supported browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari 11 or newer

Moreover, I've included an article that you can use in case you'd want to personalize the appearance and layout of your sales forms in a simple yet effective way to enhance your business' communications: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Please remember that you're not alone in every QuickBooks struggle you may have, we're here from the Community Team ready to back you up. So if you need further assistance in viewing invoices, reports, and such in QuickBooks Online, feel free to leave a comment below or start a new thread. We'd be glad to help you all the way. Stay safe.

None of your solutions work.

I understand the need to update systems to make other things work, but did the size of the data fields have to be so enlarged? Some users might not have enormous size monitors so that is an inconvenience itself. I've also noticed that we are not able to adjust the size of the tables either so long text could be visible.

Is this option to switch available for all versions of QBO?

We appreciate your follow-up question, KC2022. I've come to share additional insights about the new invoicing layouts in QuickBooks Online.

As QuickBooks aims to provide enhanced layout preferences and satisfaction to product experiences when performing invoicing and reporting tasks, we are continuing with the rollout of the new invoice experience in QBO Simple Start, Essentials, and for web and mobile. Currently, most online advanced users have the option to switch to the old classic view layout if they're in the new experience. You can follow the steps shared by my colleague, Nicole_N, above if this option is available on your end.

Additionally, you can browse this reference for more added information about the updates and features of the new layout experience: See what's new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, you can add specific customizations to your sales forms to achieve professional-looking forms when invoicing your customers.

We're always available in this forum for any additional queries about the new layout experience and QuickBooks updates. Feel free to leave them in the comments below, and we'll get back to get you covered. Keep safe!
