ITF-14 AND WAREHOUSE MANAGER APP

Intuit,

I am going to start use Desktop Warehouse Manager APP (v1.3.0.451) with TC20 (US Version). But One thing very confused me. My company has a lot products come with ITF-14 barcode. How to setup my TC20 to work with the app?

With TC20 build-in scanner,
When I do pick/receive, if barcode format is ITF-14, TC20 never beep. Just like it never exist. If product with UPC code, will beep. I already turned on interleaved 2of5 setting as Zebra ITF-14 requirement and used DWDemo to test it, TC20 works fine.

With a BT scanner connect to TC20,  your app works perfectly.

So, your app can not work with TC20 build-in scanner (default setting but turn on interleaved 2of5). How to config it?

This is my situation.

Hi it_shws,

TC20 is compatible with Warehouse Manager App. You'll want to make sure you've correctly set up your mobile scanner device with the app manager. Let me guide you through how to get around this.

To pair your device with QuickBooks company file:

  1. In QuickBooks, click Edit and then Preferences.
  2. Click Items & Inventory. Then, click the Company Preferences tab.
  3. Click Advanced Inventory Settings.
  4. On the Site Operations tab, click Add. QuickBooks gives you a passcode.
  5. On your mobile device, launch the scanner/app, then enter the passcode.
  6. Click Link, then Yes to confirm.
  7. A success message appears indicating that the scanner is now linked to your company file.
  8. Click Next. Then, continue with setting up a pickers.

For more information about using the Warehouse Manager App, please check this handy article: Set up and use Warehouse Manager App

Once done, try using the scanner again.

You can also read about the scanner FAQ's in this article: Troubleshoot Warehouse Manager App for QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.

Thx 4 quick reply.

Before I am in this situation, I already paired TC20 with my company file and everything is thru with build-in scanner except ITF-14.

With same device, ITF-14 can go thru via a BT scanner to finish picking / receiving.

With same device, ITF-14 do can be decode and tested via DWDemo and other app, like ZELLO.

From my opinion,  it looks warehouse manager app directly controls the build-in scanner and ignored ITF-14.

BTW,  I do reboot the device to verify this and problem still there.

Thanks for getting back, @it_shws.

I'd like to make this work for you, however, to isolate this further, we'll need to check this using extra tools. I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Merchant Service Center so they can verify why ITF-14 code is being ignored.

I'm sure this will be taken care of. Should you need related articles in the future, please feel free to visit our help site: Help articles for QuickBooks Enterprise Suite.

Keep me posted if you need anything else or if you have other questions about the warehouse app. I'll be here to help.

Something else might help you isolate this,

when I turn on "Data Capture Plus" feature in Datawedge (Zebra provided to setup buildin scanner), there is a “barcode" icon hover on screen to help capture barcode. If I use others app, like Zello, it works properly.  When I launch warehouse manager app and to the interface of picking/receiving, it will disappear.

So, to me, that means warehouse manager bypassed TC20 default  scanner setting and directly control it. No matter how I change the setting. It won't works. Warehouse Manager App ignores ITF-14 barcode in purpose or never implement that decode.

Spent 4 hrs and shutdown business for 40mins to chat with a "Specialist" to qualify a ticket submit. Without any related knowledge / experience / training, sleepwalking likely, try to dig something at wrong place. Looping ask same question. Even don't know the different between "barcode scan for desktop version" and barcode scan on mobile device".  Actually, opened a webpage on my screen and step by step try to troubleshoot. That page is  https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/barcode-scanners/set-up-and-use-warehouse-manager-...

That is Amazing and Un-Expected. So frustrated.

Hello it_shws,

I know how it feels to have waited on the line. I've got a chance look around and found out that ITF-14 format isn't supported with QuickBooks. However, you can use the barcode wizard to create barcodes for your items. Let me guide you where you can create the barcode.

  1. Click Edit.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. Click Items & Inventory, then Company Preferences.
  4. Click Advanced Inventory Settings.
  5. Click the Barcodes tab, then mark the Enable Barcodes box.
  6. Click Open Barcode Wizard. Follow the steps to complete the barcode scanning setup wizard.
  7. Click OK when done.

Please refer to this article for the detailed steps about: Use barcode scanning.

Let me know if you need help with anything else.

Thank you for you respond.

Like I clarify above, Warehouse Manager App DO supports ITF-14 via a BlueTooth scanner on TC20. It just can not support via build-in scanner of TC20. Hope it can be implement on next version.

That means I DO NOT need to buy a TC20 that is on your compatible list. Just find any android device (os version 4.4 or later)

I knew how to use the wizard. Thank you, but NO. The problem is more that 80% of my inventory only have ITF-14 barcode.  It is impossible to create them. Mostly because of COST, TIME and  COMPLEXIRY for daily running.

Hi @it_shws,

I understand how useful it is to have the option to connect and use your ITF-14 barcode scanner with TC20 build-in scanner in QuickBooks. As mentioned by my peer ShiellaGraceA, you can consider using the barcode wizard as an alternative.

But I want to let you know that your voice matters and I'm submitting your feedback directly to our engineers. For now, you can visit our blog site so you'll be able to get the latest news about QuickBooks and what our Product Care Team is working on.

ITF-14 AND WAREHOUSE MANAGER APP

Thanks for your help.

Here is something what I found out.

Zebra provide a app called "DataWedge" to let TC20 users control the build-in scanner's setting. For maximized compatibility and flexibility, DataWedge can host multi-profile settings to provide unique demands of other apps. Zebra also have a DEMO for this, called DWDemo. From my opinion, Quickbooks Desktop Warehouse Manager App should follow this path other then bypass.

As a customer and user, I don't know what strategic of your development is but we do lost compatibility, flexibility and getting troubles in this.  ITF-14 format decode is just one of them. There is another feature lacking, KeyStroke Output. It is not that important for me like ITF-14. When I do Picking/Receiving, if barcode is not correct / changed / not on list, I can add a note and that is a good idea. But, in box of "Enter Custom Message", the code will not stroke out if I trigger scanner. Even the device beeped. I have to manually stroke in.  That is not convenience and effect users experience.

Hello it_shws,

I appreciate you for getting back to us and sharing some information about the Warehouse Manager app. Allow me to lend a hand on this.

I know how important to maximize the available resources you have and saving time for you and the business. I'm personally taking note of your requests and suggestions regarding the app supportability via build-in scanner of TC20.

Got confirmed from Zebra.

"This confirms that your application has code which is enabling the laser beam. Your application will override datawedge and datawedge should be disabled if your app is controlling the laser.

My recommendation would be to follow up with Quickbooks. Quickbooks would need to review the code which is enabling the laser and verify if Interleaved 2of5 is enabled and if the length is set 0-55."

Just like I clarify above, Warehouse Manager App directly access build-in scaner and no where to change setting.

I see how important it is to connect the barcode scanner to QuickBooks, It_shws.

I know you've called in before, however, I still suggest getting in touch with our technical support. An agent has more tools, like screen sharing, which can help you with syncing the scanner. Here's how:

  1. Click Help inside QuickBooks.
  2. Go to QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Select Contact us.
  4. Enter "connecting barcode scanner" in the Ask a question field, then click Continue.
  5. Select either Message an Agent or Talk to a Specialist

Please know we're just around if you have other concerns.

Hi @it_shws .

Did you manage to find a solution for this issue? Its been 4 years now and it doesn't seem like they have fixed the issue since I'm experiencing the exact same situation nowadays.

This is really disappointing from Intuit, such a basic functionality necessary for operating smoothly and they still can't figure it out.

ITF-14 AND WAREHOUSE MANAGER APP

Hello there, @Johny1.

Let me share some insights about using the ITF-14 barcode scanner in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

I understand the importance of using an ITF-14 barcode scanner. For now, our program is compatible with certain Zebra barcode scanners, which is why some devices may not work properly when it comes to inventory tracking.

See this article to learn more about the supported barcode scanners in QuickBooks Desktop: Setup and use the Warehouse Manager in QuickBooks Desktop mobile.

As an alternative, I recommend looking for any third-party application that can add a barcode image to your sales invoice. You can use this link to find one: QuickBooks apps.

I also recommend visiting our Resource Hub website. This will give you resources and videos on how to manage your QuickBooks Desktop account, income, expenses, inventory, and reports.

You can always notify us if you require further assistance in setting up the barcode. Have a good one.
