Just uploaded QuickBooks Desktop Pro. General Journal entries don't appear on register. Please help me.

I just downloaded QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2021.  I make General Journal entries, save them, but they do not show up on my register.  I am stuck until I can correct this.   I believe this has everything to do with the turn from 2020 to 2021.   Please help.

Hello there, @radar414.

 

This may be a data file damaged issue, which causes your General Journal entries not showing in the bank register. I recommend re-sorting your lists and check if the transactions will show. Let me show you how:

 

  1. Go to the List menu.
  2. Choose Chart of Accounts.
  3. Click the Account drop-down.
  4. Select the Include Inactive checkbox. If it's greyed out, there are no inactive names.
  5. Go to the View menu, then select Re-sort Lists.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Close and reopen your company file.

Also, we can run the  Verify and Rebuild Data Utilities to get this sorted out. The Verify Data utility identifies any potential data damage issues. While the Rebuild Data utility repairs damaged data in your company file. 

 

Before doing so, please secure a backup copy of your company file to avoid accidental loss. Once done, let’s go ahead and continue performing the troubleshooting steps.

 

Here’s how to verify:

 

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Utilities.
  3. Click Verify Data then select OK to close all windows.

To rebuild:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select Utilities.
  3. QuickBooks will ask to make a backup before rebuilding your company file, select OK.
  4. Once the rebuild is done, click OK.

I have tried the "solution" and it did nothing to solve the problem.  I am quickly running out of hope of solving this problem.  This problem existed with my previous Quickbooks version (2014), so I purchased a 2021 Quickbooks, hoping that this would eliminate the problem.  It appears that I wasted my money.  Please expedite this matter so I can get back to running my business.

Since you're still having issues with seeing journal entries in your registers, I suggest contacting our Customer Support Team. They have more advanced tools to help look further into your account to see what's causing this to occur. 

 

Here's how: 

 

  1. Go to the Help menu. 
  2. Pick QuickBooks Desktop Help
  3. Hit the Contact Us hyperlink. 
  4. Give a brief description of the problem and click Let's Talk
  5. Scroll down and choose to Get a callback

Just uploaded QuickBooks Desktop Pro. General Journal entries don't appear on register. Please help me.

Nothing that has been suggested to me has worked.  I purchased 2021 Quickbooks Desktop Pro and I am not able to make General Journal entries (they don't show up in the register).  This has created a real problem for my business and it needs to be resolved asap.  Please help.

I'm here to share some insights on how to resolve this journal entry concern.

 

I've tried adding journal entries in my Pro 2021 company file and it showed up in the register. See this:

 

In order to rule out the problem, I have some suggestions for you. First, open QuickBooks as Admin. Do this by right-clicking the QuickBooks icon in the desktop and selecting Run as Administrator.

 

If that doesn't work, try repairing the program as your second option. This will help resolve crashing and certificate issues with the software. Here are the steps to do it:

 

  1. Create a back up your company file beforehand to avoid any accidental data loss.
  2. Reboot the computer and tap the Windows Start menu.
  3. Find Control Panel on the search field or select it from the list.
  4. Press Programs and Features then Uninstall a Program.

    Note: If you don't see Programs and Features, select Programs instead. Then select Program and Features.

  5. Pick QuickBooks from the list of Programs, then press Uninstall/Change.
  6. Click on Continue, or Next. then Repair.
  7. Press Next again then wait for the tool to start its diagnosis.
  8. Hit Finish when done.

Lastly, if you already tried everything without positive results, I'd recommend that you continue working with our Technical Support Team. You may request to escalate the case to our Data Services department to check your company file and identify what's causing this behavior.

  1. Open QuickBooks and click the Help menu.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. On the pop-up screen select Contact us.
  4. Click the Search for Something else button then type your concern in the Ask us anything box.
  5. Hit Search then scroll down to get your contact options.
