New push for migrating to QBO by Intuit

Will a company that wants to continue to run QBD 2021 after May 2024 still have access to their QB file?  The latest email from Intuit has us wondering how they will treat customers still running 2021 QBD or previous versions, since the sign in  to their Intuit Account is linked to their QBD file.

@GingerTexas

Your client can still send and receive the accountant copy files manually. This also works on other older versions.

If you have a non-subscription license, you will be fine. Login to your CAMPS to make sure.

I've some information regarding the accessibility of your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2021, GingerTexas.

Yes, you can still use your QBDT 2021. However, please note that you won't have access to live technical support, or receive the latest critical security updates, and other features of QBDT 2021.

If you have a Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise subscription, you'll be able to have view-only access which remains 1 year after the subscription ends. Know that only the company admins can access the view-only mode.

You may refer to these materials to learn more about QBDT 2021:

If you want your QBDT to keep up to date, you may update your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. You can also move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online. This way, you won't need to start again incase you wanted to transfer to QuickBooks Online.

Thanks for your response.  I am talking about non-subscription based 2021 QBD (2021 Pro and 2021 Premier).  Will they still be able to send me an accountant's copy?

Good to see you again, GingerTexas. I'm glad to assist you with your query.

Once the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2021 software is discontinued, sending an accountant copy won't be possible anymore. To ensure that your accountant receives a copy, I recommend sending it on or before May 31, 2024.

For more information about the QBDT service discontinuation, you can refer to the QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy article.

If you have any further questions or concerns about the QBDT service discontinuation, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm always here to help. Stay safe!
