New Shipping Manager

@hairball @TimL @willtrimble @James_H @Candice C

Ok, finally got initial access to new Ship Manager even though everyone's advice from Intuit was incorrect.

@TimL got me going the right way by forcing another upgrade today.

But now, like @hairball reported, we seem to be forced to provide a credit card for USPS just to get through setup so we can eventually connect our UPS and FedEx accounts.

Has anyone figured out a way to get to UPS/FedEx shipping without providing a credit card?  If not, who is getting this card?  Intuit, ShipEngine, and/or the postal service?

@X80 thanks for the update.

I agree that the credit card requirement is messed up. But we were desperate for a solution and did it anyway. I have not figured out how to turn it off. That third party's USPS shipping options continue to display as the primary shipping options for each new shipment. I've had to warn my people repeatedly to NOT select one of those options when processing a shipment.

If you have multiple users, the setup process for those users will have additional peculiar challenges. Specifically, when each user tries to access the shipping manager for the first time, an Intuit login window is going to pop up. DO NOT use that new user's Intuit credentials: Instead use the credentials for the primary user (presumably you) who initially configured the Shipping Manager for your QuickBooks file. Fortunately it will only ask for this login info one time. Afterwards that user will be able to login on any of your workstations using his regular QB login without the extra Intuit login window popping up for Shipping Manager.

@TimL Thanks for the continued help/input.  Yup, I also just now gave in and provided a credit card.  I have multiple users and will follow your advice about using primary account credentials to set them up.

And after using it some, I am stunned that the new Shipping Manager is centered entirely around USPS and "purchasing" labels and sending Funds to USPS or Stamps.com accounts.  We don't use USPS at all.  The new Ship Manager is an extremely rudimentary offering and does not even allow multiple package shipping, which we used every day from the old shipping manager.

Still don't have UPS properly connected as I get the same Access Denied error (pasted below) that others reported.  Not sure if it is an account credentials problem or just an error produced by Intuit/ShipEngine systems.

Access Denied

You don't have permission to access "http://www.ups.com/lasso/login" on this server.

@James_H I am getting same error after finally getting access to new Shipping Manager on 31-May.  I'm not sure if it is an account authorization issue or a problem with implementation.  I was able to connect my FedEx account without any issues.

@X80 , We also had trouble initially getting our UPS account authenticated. Did you try stretching the the popup window that's asking for UPS account info? The window was formatted too small to display all of required fields. Enlarging it caused additional fields to come into view which resolved that issue (for us).

Thanks for asking, but yes, I had done so based on your earlier advice.  Never get the chance to enter my password.  Only account name, then hit enter expecting next prompt for password.  Definitely no password field available with or without window fully extended.

June 2, have to ship packages, nothing is working, and guess what? I get an error saying to try using it again later.

This new "enhanced" shipping manager can't ship multiple packages? Are you kidding me?????

@Maverick2, isn't this just an incredible situation? How can such a huge and resourceful company be so inept?

And yes:..... we have not been able to figure out how to ship a multi-package order nor how to use a customer's UPS account number. All of our biggest customers require that we charge the shipments to their account.

If you're like me, you've been with Intuit long enough that unfortunately this is the "norm"

In general; if you can ever avoid updating their software to the latest version, do it.

@TimL I called QB. "About 5 minutes" turned into 30 but whatevs... Here is what he said:

1. We have a problem with UPS. We don't know what the problem is.

2. Uninstall the app then reinstall (can't do that anyway b/c it's Right Networks)

3. Update the program (again, on RN so I'll contact them. With QB it's ALWAYS an issue with RN.

4. Good luck!

@hairball 10 years on Enterprise, for which I pay nearly $900 per year. Most of the time they have no idea how to solve my issue and essentially say "we don't know. bye bye." We either live with the limited functionality or come up with a workaround.

Yes, I did not realize until you mentioned inability to use recipients UPS or FedEx account.  The ability to ship from QuickBooks has been completely obliterated.

I, too, called UPS and Intuit.  Intuit knows many users cannot get access to UPS account and say they are in the process of resolving, but no idea how long.

Yes, I feel you for sure... The good news is that the old shipping manager is still working for us on QB Enterprise v24.0, even though it still prompts me to choose between the new and old one in the pop-up. *knock on wood*

If it completely goes awry, we're prepared to use UPS WorldShip and FedEx Ship Manager software on our devices as a backup plan. The downfall is that we wouldn't be able to have addresses "prefill" into the recipient fields while trying to create a shipment from the carrier software. Unfortunately, some manual work will be required, but we'll still be operating, I suppose...

I am in the same boat.  Ship 60+ UPS packages a day, using QB Enterprise, and after several hours in contact with support, I have been told it's an issue they need to work out.  I do not have confidence that this will be resolved in a speedy manner.  I have over a dozen trouble tickets STILL OPEN from over the past 3 years that are still "known issues".  I don't feel this is an enterprise class software, especially with the lack of support.  You pay $900 / yr.  I pay $1500 / mo with 30 users.  Sure doesn't feel like I am getting my moneys worth.  I did get USPS (stamps.com) and FedEx to work, but having to put a CC # in is insane.

@James_H, Unfortunately we were still running V2022 and were forced to upgrade to V2024 due to Intuit's (apparently arbitrary) May 31 EOL determination for v2022. What's really foolish is that they forced us to perform that upgrade while knowing that the new version was not ready.

We've managed (with ZERO help from Intuit) to get the new Shipping Manager to work on all seven of our workstations as of this morning. But is VERY clunky and lacks the functionalities previously mentioned. We are currently jumping out to WorldShip for receiver-billed shipments and multi-package shipments.

We're still able to access the old shipping manager but putting Worldship on the computer for backup.

Similar to Tim, I rely on the function of including a reference to the PO # on the shipping label and I have several accounts that I bill shipping 3rd party to their FedEx or UPS account, rather than my own. Will this be made available with the new Ship Engine shipping manager?

Q-BisApain

The requirement for a CC is questionable; I need to use my UPS account or my Customer UPS account to ship with, and multiple packages. The ShipEngine site says that the Free version, you cannot use your accounts only their account, However, for $75/month you can use your own account?

Does this new system require a $75/month just to use your own UPS/FedEx accounts? I do not care about USPS, we ship with yet another vendor outside of QB.

Are their other options for exporting the shipping info to a different app and export/import the tracking info on QBDT

We are on Enterprise 24; been with QBDT for about 20 years.

Looking at the new shipping manager supplier website, they seem to be in a change themselves; as being bought out by a new company before Qucikbooks is able to implement the system under the old name.

Can you please address some of these questions in this thread? Here are some:
1. Can it ship multiple packages?
2. Can we use our customers' accounts?

3. Can we use OUR negotiated rates and not ShipEngine's rates?

Please, please, PLEASE just either answer the questions or say you don't know. None of us here need additional links. None of us are getting any information through the QB help method.

I am 100% in the same boat.  I need all of the exact same questions answered.  I ship anywhere from 40-60 packages a day via UPS, using QB enterprise for the past 15 years, and it is basically useless right now.  This shipping issue has hindered my workflow so much right now, I am actively searching for QB alternatives.  I have 30 users on my account too, so I am paying a small fortune for software that doesn't work.  I was ASSURED by support that I would get a call back on Monday with a solution - still nothing.  Add that on to the dozens of unresolved, open trouble tickets I have had and still have from over the years.  This may be the last straw for me.

The QuickBooks Shipping Manager supports multi-package shipments, Maverick2. To include multiple packages, simply click the Add button in the Package section.

Regarding your second question, the shipping manager automatically fills in the shipping labels with customer address information from your Point of Sale Receipt or Sales Order forms.

In response to your last question, the shipping cost is determined by the package destination, shipping options, weight, and selected service. Therefore, negotiated rates are not available.

For more details on how the QuickBooks Shipping Manager feature works, you can refer to the following articles:

As for j528868, I appreciate the efforts you've spent with our support to get this issue fixed. If you've got the same question as Maverick2's, please refer to the information provided above. To receive updates on your open tickets, I suggest reaching out to our Live Support Team. As this is a public forum, I'm unable to access your case or check its status.

Feel free to return to this thread if you have any follow-up questions.

You must be referring to the old shipping manager. The new one still does not have the option to do multi-package or third-party account billing...

Let me clarify my questions and make them more detailed:

2. Can we use our customers' accounts?

Your answer: "Regarding your second question, the shipping manager automatically fills in the shipping labels with customer address information from your Point of Sale Receipt or Sales Order forms."

That is an answer to a different question. Our customers have their own UPS accounts and their own UPS account numbers. They give us their UPS account number. We use their UPS account number and the shipping charge gets charged to their account. We put their UPS account number in the shipping manager. Can I put their UPS account into the new QB manager so that our customer will get the charge from UPS?

3. Can we use OUR negotiated rates and not ShipEngine's rates?

Your answer: " the shipping cost is determined by the package destination, shipping options, weight, and selected service. Therefore, negotiated rates are not available."

I don't think you understand my question. All shipping costs are always determined by those things. We put that information into the QB system. The QB system sends that information to the shipping company (like UPS). UPS looks at that information and calculates the cost according to the account that is being used. When I connected my UPS account to the ShipEngine setup, does that mean that ShipEngine is going to send UPS all the information including my own UPS account number so that charge is the charge of my negotiated rates with UPS? Are we going to be forced to take the shipping rates that are charged by ShipStation?

It won't do any good.  I contact support as I STILL can;t get the new ship manager to work, I get "it's a known issue that we're working on and we'll contact you when fixed".  This is the same response for any issue I have encountered with QB for the past decade.

The new shipping manager still gives me "ACCESS DENIED" when trying to add UPS.  I am still able to use the old one - for now. So instead of continually calling support to get the same answer, I am posting here.  Hopefully someone comes up with a solution soon.  $1500 / mo for software that doesn't work, is untested, or no answer to be found is insane.

j528868: I had the same issue when trying to set up my UPS account with the access denied error message. I am not sure if this will work for you, but the way that I circumvented the issue was expanding the window and instead of using the log in that appears at the center of the pop up, I went to the log in option at the top right and logged in as I normally would to access my UPS account. For some reason, this was successful to at least connect my UPS account with this new shipping manager.
