@BettyJaneB

I did that already today, I spent over 90 minutes on the phone, one intuit assistant was mocking me on this and making fun of my concern.

@BettyJaneB  I don't envy you your job.

I calmly agree with @Upset User that Intuit is throwing their customers under the bus and I think they're going to regret this. I have been a very loyal Intuit fan for decades, but this takes all the wind out of my sails. I promised my clients they could trust QBO and they made the switch from Desktop. Now I feel like I sold them out. I no longer trust that Intuit has my back or cares about me or my practice at all.

Hello, LynnMStone.

I appreciate you coming to the Community and sharing your thoughts on this matter. I want to assure you that your loyalty and business is important to me.

After much time and consideration, Intuit has released the new QBO Advanced product with upgraded features to help you help your clients. Some of these new features included smart reporting, the ability to import invoices, a personal Success Manager, online training, etc. Along with the original feature you know, these new items will allow to work quickly and efficiently. This link will take you to the QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced comparison where you can view all the details and pricing options: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/accounting/advanced/.

If you're concerned about the new usage limits, I'm glad to report that if you're currently over the limit for any accounts, billable users, or classes, nothing will change. The difference here being you wouldn't be able to make one of these items inactive then active again, or add anything new to these groups. You can view your current usage in QBO by:

1. Clicking the Gear icon in the top right corner.

2. Select Account and Settings.

3. Choose Usage.

You can find out more about the usage limits by following this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Help-Articles/What-are-usage-limits-in-QuickBooks-Online/m-p....

I wish you and your business continued success. You can always feel free to reach out to me here if you have any other questions. Take care.

I'm hearing a broken record here.  So, no solution other than upgrading and instead of paying $60/month I can see this as an "opportunity" to pay $150/month for options I don't need or want just so I can set up as many accounts as I want.  Is that correct???  Even though when I signed up you promised me unlimited accounts.   I have been a loyal customer for over 20 years.  Intuit should be ashamed of their selves.  This is nothing but a money grab.

Is there a specific reason you're using QB Online?  QB Desktop is a much more robust program.

If you use Bank Feed, then you do need to upgrade every 3 years as they change the banking protocols.  But pending what your bank allows you to download directly, you may have the option to continue importing the info.  So there may be no need to upgrade until you want to.

Hi there, rockerjd.

Thanks for following up on this thread. Your many years of loyalty and your voice matters to me.

You do not have to upgrade your account if you do not wish. You will not be forced into using QuickBooks Online Advanced so your current monthly charge will remain the same. Only 5% of QBO users will see an immediate impact of this release. If you're a QBO Plus user, you can keep 250 items in the Chart of Accounts, 40 tracked Classes and Locations, and 5 Billable Users. If you happen to be over any of these limits, you will still be able to operate as normal. What changes is you will not be able to inactivate an account then reactivate it or add new accounts. Any item made inactive will not count towards the limit total. You may consider using this as an chance to make anything inactive that you aren't using to free up some space.

Dear Quickbooks Team,

I find it terribly arrogant of the Quickbooks Team to assume that my books are full of accounts and classes that I undoubtedly no longer need and should make inactive in order to meet the arbitrary limits you have imposed on my subscription that had no limits when I purchased it.  To think it's consolation that I "can continue on my same subscription...I just can't add any new accounts or classes...ever."  Apparently, the Quickbooks Team has never kept books before.  As many of your loyal subscribers whom "are important to you" have already expressed, this is absolute extortion of your installed base of subscribers.  Shame on you!

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on this, @WCadmin.

It's certainly true that some business have many active accounts and classes. If you are above usage limits, you’re in the top 5% of usage across all QuickBooks Online Users in the United States.

We know that there are customers that are outgrowing QBO today, and our goal is to make sure that those customers are in a fully featured product that meets their needs. A high number of Users, a large Chart of Accounts, and high usage of Classes and Locations are all indicators of a more complex business. Advanced provides you with tools that help you get deeper insights, save more time, and customize usage the way you want.

Should you choose to choose to reduce any of these entities, please know that you're not deleting data. Clicking ‘delete’ for Chart of Accounts, Classes or Locations just makes that field inactive. Transactions associated with that account, class or location will remain accessible.

If you have any additional questions, I'm just a few clicks away.

I will probably just move to the desktop version assuming QB will still support it.  How long can I expect QB to continue to support the desktop version?  Are there usage limits that will be magically implemented on the desktop version?  Will I be able to safely and completely move my data from QB online to the desktop version?

David-212915

I want to ensure that you have the software that best fits your business needs, @rockerjd.

The Desktop version is very much supported, with the most recent version being QuickBooks Desktop 2019 that was launched in the fall. Additionally, you can export your data from Online to Desktop. I'm including an article which contains additional insight into this process, as well as requirements and limitations: Export Data File from QuickBooks Online to Desktop.

Should you have any questions about this, or anything else, please let me know.

I must be very careful how I word my reply, I was banned from this Community for several days, after many years of using quickbooks and always being forced to upgrade, upgrade, upgrade to keep my existing features I’ve had it. I spoke the truth and for a moment it seemed as I was in Russia or North Korea when I could no longer log-in. This is the Usa, it is not supposed to be censored, they said is because I posted repeated content, but that is exactly what intuit quickbooks is doing in this post, they keep repeating the same thing, they are trained to copy and paste the same answer, should we ban them? They said if I continued to talk about this same subject, or post anything about this same issue, I will be banned permanently. Wow, and we are in America.....

I use classes for everything, quickbooks and accountants always recommended that to me, so I have a few hundred, so my yearly Quickbooks online subscription cost will go up from $720 US Dollars to $1800 US Dollars for the same features. Intuit has 6,000,000 users world wide, I don't think this 1 post would have much effect on their decision.

Besides the same message in multiple threads, I'd assume you were also banned because of your behavior and incendiary posts including, but not limited to threatening legal action.  Everyone is open to express their opinions on these posts but you're still expected to maintain a certain level of professionalism.  It's no different than if you were interacting with someone face to face.

And while yes this IS the United States and not Russia or North Korea, you can express your frustration, anger, even hatred of a product or service without being rude to other members of the community.  These simple rules are in the community terms of use and others seem to have no trouble abiding by them but still venting their frustration.

Case in point, excerpts from your posts on this issue. (Text highlighted in red to call attention to those sections)

THIS IS BLACKMAIL, THIS IS FRAUD, THIS IS UNREAL. IF YOU STOP MY COMPANY FROM OPERATING I WILL SUE YOU!!!!

I WANT SOMEONE TO CALL ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THIS IS EXTORTION, THIS IS ABUSE, I DO NOT WANT MORE OF YOUR SERVICES, YOUR COMPANY SUCKS, I JUST WANT WHAT I SUBSCRIBED TO.

THIS IS A MOVE BY INTUIT WITH VICIOUS INTENT TO HARM ME UNLESS I PAY ALMOST 3 TIMES MORE EACH MONTH. INTUIT DESERVES A CLASS ACTION LAW SUITE. TERRIBLE. JUST TERRIBLE. !

You have no clue on what you are saying,

What is coming next? Will INTUIT CREATE A NEW SUBSCRIPTION and call it ADVANCE PLUS so I can post unlimited checks or deposits now ??? IF YOU DON'T SEE FRAUD HERE THEN YOU ARE BLIND.

Here's an example of someone whose also frustrated and they even agree with you, yet they're able to express it in a more productive manner and to my knowledge, they weren't banned.

@MarshallA when you say "You have no clue on what you are saying, "  would you care to elaborate on exactly what I have no clue about?  There have been a number of threads and comments.

I noticed a couple of other names on your list which I'm assuming may also be curious.

@Pete_Mc

It's hard to know when @MarshallA is quoting or expressing a personal opinion as sometimes there are quotes, but other times it seems to repeat what the poster said, without any quotes.  I wonder if the "You have no clue on what you are saying, " is supposed to be a quote, but then why all the names in front. So I think it is an accusation and one of those names is mine, and yes I am also curious

@Malcolm Ziman and @Pete_Mc

I apologize for the confusion.  It's hard to tell in these threads when someone is being quoted.

I was repeating a quote from @Upset User where he tagged you both as well as other people.

My post was to give examples of his posts and behavior and also show a post from someone who is equally upset but instead acted more professionally.

I'm actually looking for the exact post so I can attach a screenshot, but I see either the post has been edited or I have seen that @Upset User has had a few of his posts deleted by moderator and this might be one of them.  You can see the other section I was quoting in the attached screenshot.  His post was directly above it.

Everything between the -------------------------------  is a post from @Upset User

Everything between the ================= is a post from another user who conducted themself more professionally.

Again I apologize for the confusion.  I have seen many posts from both of you and they are always helpful.

@MarshallA

I appreciate you pointing out how some of the content might have been perceived as unprofessional; perhaps maintaining more political correctness while posting content in this community might be a much better approach. I can certainly see your point, your two cents are greatly appreciated.

Going back to the original point of this post, now I'm curious, if you don't mind me asking, I apologize in advance if I'm intruding. Would you be willing to share your opinion or views to this community on the new scheduled price hike and the removal of features once offered and sold to the existing base of subscribers/users ?

Intuit themselves do not seem to follow the level of great professionalism you are seeking. The post by @WCadmin  is extraordinarily well written, and very professional I might add. I'm quoting that post that describes this price hike and the removal of features once sold to us by Intuit: "absolute extortion of your installed base of subscribers. Shame on you!"

Perfect statement to the incendiary news Intuit gave us, loyal subscribers.

For those clients that are not all that familiar with this post, the existing clients subscribed to the QBO Plus subscription, which it was always adversided to include unlimited classes and unlimited charts of accounts at $720 per year, will now have to upgrade to the Advanced Subscription at $1800 per year, or else will lose the functionality Intuit sold with their original Plus subscription.

Did Intuit act very professional like you would have expected? Their behavior seem rather harsh, or "rude" to they existing client base of that product. Should we reciprocate with the same level of professionalism? Have they earned the respect?

I think I was able to express my point it in a more productive manner, I can't wait to hear from the Intuit Team...

Case in point. Intuit's news post in this issue, dated Feb 8, 2019 "QuickBooks Online Usage Limits Changing":

I'm attaching a screenshot of the new features in the Advanced online option.  It doesn't say anywhere that there are unlimited accounts.   It says there are up to 10 users but is silent on the amount of accounts I would be allowed if I upgrade.  Can you clarify?

Hello @rockerjd

QuickBooks Online Advanced doesn't have a limit for the number of accounts that can be added to your Chart of Accounts. For additional information on this, please see the following article: What are Usage Limits in QuickBooks Online?.

Additionally, I recommend the following article for additional insight on this software: QuickBooks Online Advanced Overview.

I'm here if you have any questions. Best regards.

@David-212915

Just to let you know, Intuit Quickbooks had that same policy, unlimited Charts of Accounts and unlimited Classes when I purchased the QBO Plus Subscription product, UNTIL NOW. So remaining silent on that might be a great legal move so that they can come up with may be something like Advanced Plus Subscription and force more money out of their 6,000,000 quickbooks subscribers worldwide.

It would seem that Intuit Quickbooks wanted more revenue so they removed these 2 features from the PLUS version, created an ADVANCED subscription, and now you have to pay them $1800 per year instead of $720. That is a great business model. So far Intuit or their team members have been SILENT why Intuit Quickbooks turned to extorsion against their existing client base, forcing them to upgrade to the new Advanced subscription on April 10, 2019 just to keep the features they originally purchased. Better companies would typically provide new and better features that would be an incentive for subscribers to upgrade to on their own without this type of financial damage and extortion.

Do you have an explanation why Intuit is able to get away with stealing features from a product I've purchased with those features years ago other than greed?

Intuit,

I could see asking a bit more to have user permissions that are customized to each individual but the jump to $150 a month for basically the same program that we are currently have with QBOPlus is unrealistic.  I will stay will QBOPlus for a few months until I find another software that is not going to switch and bait me nor gouge me.  I find it quite sad that Intuit's Board of Directors feel that this is their best way to increase their income stream.  For a "robust" accounting program, your iphone/ipad apps are very "sub-par" and taking away a "product feature" on an established program to charge more is quite unethical, in my opinion.  A couple of years ago I switched from the Quicken for Mac desktop to iBank for non-business finances and I'm glad I did.  It's worked out beautifully.  Watch out Intuit, there are "other business accounting programs" out there and it may be hard to make the switch...but your loyal customers will make that switch as we are very unhappy.  I'm going "short" on your stock.  C'est la vie :/

Please consider increasing the usage limits from 250 to 500.

Using Fathom as a selling point for the Advanced subscription does not help your case. A fathom subscription costs $39 per month. Yet rates are being double or more.

Again, please consider increasing the usage limits from 250 to 500.

@Anonymous

Well said, I think we are all at fault for contributing to the 6,000,000 users Intuit quickbooks has worldwide. What they are doing is insane for smaller businesses, they always told me to use Classes for everything, now they took them away from the product we all purchased QBO Plus, and are basically using extorsion to force us to upgrade to their QBO Advanced subscription only to get to use the same features Intuit once sold to us and advertised we would have in our product.

By the way, the moderators or  Intuit "Team members" of this community are mostly good people working in the Philippines and India, please note that Intuit is headquartered in Mountain View, California, USA, they chose not to hire people here in California because of greed, the hourly labor rate is more than 10-15 times higher than what virtual assistants charge in the Philippines. Greed. Greed.

Please let us know what might be the best alternatives to Intuit blood sucking quickbooks subscriptions.
