Join nowI created templates over the years (and many different versions of QB Pro.) Since upgrading from 2012 to 2021, the template modification process has become difficult.
When I select my template to modify, the "Basic Customization" window appears with the selected template previewed on the right side. This preview is correct. It shows all of the formatting, specifically the borders within the template. When I select "Layout Designer," the template does not display any of the borders, logo or fill colors. I have attached screenshots of both (with my personal info redacted with black boxes.)
Luckily, I didn't have to do much modification to my existing templates, but it is VERY difficult to modify or create a new template if I can't see in the Layout Designer which fields have borders, colors, etc. The templates do print correctly. Also, under 'Printer Setup' I do NOT have the 'do not print lines around each field' selected. I have tested the view of the "Layout Designer" with it selected and deselected just to see if it was a glitch.
Summary: I would like the "Layout Designer" to display the borders as they appear in the "Basic Customization" and "Print Preview."
Thanks in advance!
Melissa

Thanks for your reply, however, the borders are selected in the screenshots provided for the template. The borders appear in the basic customization preview, but when I use the layout designer, the borders are not visible. The borders print just fine. They just don't appear in the important layout designer. Not seeing them (even though they are really there) makes it difficult to design the layout. I have to make changes, save, then back out to the basic customization screen to view the actual preview to see if it looks ok, ie are data fields overlapping incorrectly, etc.
I'm basically designing the layout blind because of this.

I admire you for sharing some clarifications with us and for going through the troubleshooting steps provided, mtcolombo.
I replicated your concern and was able to see the borders on the Layout Designer page. With this, I'd suggest running the Verify and Rebuild Data utility in the system. The tool scan data issues within the company file and self-resolves them.

I used the 'verify data' option and then the 'rebuild data' option and neither fixed the issue.
I believe the issue is a program issue. The template both prints and previews correctly, but the 'layout designer' won't show the borders on the fields in which they are activated. It's a bit annoying ;)
