QB Enterprise 2021 - entering Line items on invoice

We just upgraded to the 2021 QB Enterprise Manufacturing and Wholesale - it is hosted on our server.  Problem is when entering items on the invoice some items will index automatically to the next line when at the end of entering and for other items it does not index to the next line but goes right back to the same line which causing us enter over the previous entry loosing it!  I have run Tool Hub many times. I have look at preferences - we changed nothing with the upgrade. looked at templates.  there is no rhyme or reason to why a particular item does this and not another item that I can see.  This does not occur when creating a quote / proforma.

Firstly, I want to appreciate the troubleshooting steps you've performed to fix this issue. Since you're still experiencing the same after running the QuickBooks Tool Hub, let's try opening a sample file and enter items on the invoice to verify. Here's how:

 

  1. In your QuickBooks Desktop, go to the File menu and select Close Company/Log off.
  2. Select a sample company file from the Open a sample file drop-down.
  3. Click Yes to download the sample file.
  4. Once you're on the file, create an invoice again and enter line items.

 

If it's working fine in the sample file, it means that your company file is damaged. Let's try running the Rebuild and Verify Utility tool to fix data damage on your company file. Please follow the steps below:

 

  1. Open your company file again.
  2. Go to the File menu, then select Utilities and choose Rebuild Data.
  3. Click OK in the QuickBooks Information window.
  4. Wait until the repair is done. Then, click OK.
  5. Then, go back to the File menu and select Utilities and choose Verify Data.
  6. Click OK if QuickBooks doesn't find any problems. Or Rebuild Now if it finds issues with your company file.

 

If you still get the same issue, let's try running the QuickBooks File Doctor to fix common issues. 

 

  1. Open your QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. Select Company File Issues.
  3. Click Quick Fix my File.
  4. Hit OK when it completes and launch your QuickBooks.

Mark - unfortunately these fixes failed to fix our problem.  The Rebuild results first said it found 9 issues  - Error(2) Error 306 and then it said it had fixed error 306.  Since it found issues I did the Rebuild again. This time it found 27,104 Issues!!!  Error (13551)  error 310 (13551).   I then ran Quick Fix for Company Files.

 And we now have a new issue along with the previous issue - as admin as have access to any saved credit card data but the other workstations do not have access.

You can contact them either of this actions below: 

 

  1. Go to the Help menu, then choose  QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter the error in the description box and hit Let's talk
  4. Pick an option to connect them and submit the request. 

 

Using direct chat:

  2. Complete the required data. 
  3. Tap Submit.

I have been having this same issue for months. I have tried everything in this thread as well with no fix. Calling did not resolve the issue either.

Let's check the invoice template you're using. Damage templates can cause issues when entering line items in QuickBooks. You can delete and recreate it and make sure it's updated.

 

To update QuickBooks Desktop it can be done automatically or manually.

 

For manual updates.

 

Here's how:

  1. Select Start menu.
  2. Look for QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Choose Run as administrator.
  4. Select No Company Open screen.
  5. Click Help.
  6. Select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  7. Choose Options. Select Mark All and click Save.
  8. Select Update Now and click Reset Update.
  9. Click Get Updates.

Once the update is done, please close and reopen QuickBooks. To install the updates that were downloaded, choose Yes.

Im having the same issues and its affecting out productivity, I have called the tech support line 3 times now and nobody can solve our issues, Im very frustrated with quickbooks

Before we start, have you tried the workaround steps above provided by my colleagues? If the issue persists after following the troubleshooting instructions, I'd recommend repairing your QBDT. This tool can help fix common errors right away.

 

Here's how: 

 

  1. Create a backup first and restart the computer after. 
  2. Open the Windows Start menu, then choose Control Panel. 
  3. Select Programs and Features or Programs then tap Uninstall a Program.

 

       4. Click Continue, then Repair

       5. Tap Finish and restart the computer again.
