QB Online Payroll is inferior to Intuit Online Payroll - I can't export anymore.

The new quickbooks online payroll doesn't export paychecks and tax payments to my Mac Desktop like the Intuit Online payroll used to. (Even though it has the option).

QB Online Payroll is inferior to Intuit Online Payroll - I can't export anymore.

Greetings, @jmg76087

Thanks for reaching out to us. I'm here to share some information about the issue with the export paychecks and tax payments to your Mac Desktop.

If you are using our Standalone Payroll Product, you are able to export your payroll transactions into either QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop for Windows (IIF).

The option, for now, is to export to QuickBooks Windows or you can use the test account then from DT to Mac you will need an app to export.

Also, there's actually a way you can export your individual tax payment from QBOP.

Here's how:

  1. Choose Payroll tax on the left-hand menu.
  2. Select the report Tax payment history under Tax resources.
  3. Filter the date for the tax payments you want to export.
  4. Put a checkmark in the box for one or more payments to export.
  5. Click on Export to Accounting.

You can check out this article for more information and learn how to export payroll transactions in QuickBooks Online Payroll.

For more details, check out our detailed guide on Export Intuit Online Payroll transactions to QuickBooks for Windows or Mac (IIF).

Exactly what I am looking at - I do not see the option to put a check mark in the box of what I need to export anymore - I am now seeing a message saying 941 amount will be debited tomorrow. Did something move/change?

Hello there, @Sjones94.

I'll be adding additional information about exporting tax payments from QuickBooks Online Payroll.

The steps shared by my colleague above works in the Standalone Payroll product. With that, I'd like to confirm what QuickBooks Payroll service you're currently using. This helps us figure out the best way to export your data.

Since you're not seeing the option to put a checkmark in the box of what you need to export as provided above, you can follow with these steps to accomplish the process of exporting the selected tax payments:

  1. Within the Payroll tax, click View tax payments you have made.
  2. Select the appropriate period you want to export. There will be no boxes to check.
  3. Click the Share drop-down arrow. Then, select Export to Excel.

You can take a look at this sample screenshot:

On the other hand, if you're using the Standalone Payroll, under the Tax resources is an option to view the Tax payment history. Once you select that, you'll be choosing the correct date range for the report. Then, you'll need to click the Run report to get all the list of all the tax payments. Afterward, you'll have an option to click the checkboxes on the left-hand edge. Then, click Export to Accounting.

If still, you're not able to tick some boxes for the selected tax payments, you can perform some basic troubleshooting steps.  You can log in from there to see if it's working. Follow the shortcut keys below:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift N

If it works, go back to a regular browser and clear the cache. A piled cache can also be the reason for some unexpected issues on the opened pages.

About the prompt  message or notification for the 941, the system reminds you when to debit for the 941 amount.

You can use these resources for additional details. The other article also gives payroll report lists that you can generate in the program:

If you still need help with the process of exporting your payroll data from QuickBooks Online, please post them here right away. We'll be around to assist you anytime. Take care always.
