QB's 2020 desktop

Is anyone having problems with QB's desktop multiuser logging in and missing things from within QB's file? Like item listing or payroll forms tab?  I have to close out and log back in so those things show up.  I find it strange and never had that happen until after upgrading to 2020.

3 options:

1. Upgrade to QBD Enterprise

2. Condense the file

3. Create a new company file from a certain period. You may open any older file if required.

Thanks for providing the complete details and for sharing a screenshot, @kerryboersma.

Great job in upgrading your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) software to 2020. To get around this issue, let's perform some troubleshooting steps. I suggest upgrading your company file so it works well with your newer version of QBDT. Let me walk you through the steps.

  1. Ensure all users are logged out of your company file.
  2. Open your new version of QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Select Open or Restore Company if you don't have a company file open.
  4. Click Open a company file, then Next.
  5. Browse your computer for your company file.
  6. Sign in to your company file as an admin user.
  7. Click Update Now to start the upgrade.
  8. Select Done when QuickBooks is finished.

You can also read through this article for more details in upgrading your company file: Upgrade your company files after switching to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop.

Once all is set, you might want to update your QBDT software to the latest release. This way, your software is up to date with the latest features and fixes.

You’re always welcome to leave a reply in this thread if you have other concerns with your QBDT software. It’s my pleasure to ensure you’re in working order. Have a great day ahead.

I don't think you understand my question-I am sorry but I have already upgraded to QB 2020 and I have the current updates.  I am having issues with several of my clients files randomly when trying to log in.  Most of the time it works but here lately QB's file either does not let me log in-it crashes or sends me warnings etc. I have called Tech support on that matter with not solution.  This matter I am asking about is once I have logged in QB's is missing things(payroll, item lists, reports etc) and when I log out of the file and then log back into the same file everything that was missing is now there.

Hello again, kerryboersma. Thanks for getting back and providing detailed information.

Let's run a file doctor to the affected company through the host company file to resolve this unusual behavior.

Here's how:

  1. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub file. .
  2. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  5. From the tool hub, select the Company File Issues tab.
  6. Select Run QuickBooks File Doctor
  7. In QuickBooks File Doctor, choose your company file from the drop-down menu. If you don’t see your file, hit Browse and search to find your file.
  8. Press Check your file and then Continue.
  9. Enter your QuickBooks admin password and click Next.

Running this tool, help fix the issue.

@kerryboersma

Our experiences are that Pro and Premier data files start to take a long time to run reports at the 150-200 MB. In addition, Pro and Premier become more susceptible to data corruption and other funky issues if they get to be too large.

Thanks for your input but I have run the QB Desktop File Doctor and it found no errors.  I have also run the QB's Tool Hub and the same, no errors.  Any additional thoughts? Thanks again.

So if the QB file is larger than 200MB what are the solutions to that?  Is QB's working on this issue?  Companies can not just start new files since it has comparisons and tax info etc. Thanks for you input though.
