Hello there, @dmm39.
Allow me to share some details on how to fix this.
One of the reasons why you have encountered this issue is that your company file may be damaged. To fix this let's run Quick Fix my Program from QuickBooks Tools Hub. This will repair any damages from the company data.
Here's how:
- Close the QuickBooks Desktop Application.
- Download and Install QuickBooks Tools Hub.
- Save it where you can easily find it such as Windows Desktop or Download folder.
- Open the file, follow the on-screen instruction to install it successfully.
You can refer to Step 2 in this article to finish fixing your data file in QuickBooks: QuickBooks Desktop doesn't start or won't open.
I'd also recommend saving a backup file to prevent any data loss, here's an article for your reference: Back up your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
If the issue is still the same after using QuickBooks Tools Hub, you can proceed to verify and rebuild the company data. To know the detailed instructions, check out this article: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.
Fill me in if you need further assistance by tagging my name in the comment section. I'd be happy to help. Take care.
