I'm not having a problem launching QB...I'm having a problem printing in QB.

Quickbooks for Mac Desktop 2020 with Ventura

Hello there, @Luis342. I've got here some steps to help you fix the printing issue in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac.

To begin, may I know if you receive any error messages when attempting to print in QBDT Mac? That information is a great help so I can provide a timely solution.

In the meantime, let's run the Rebuild Data utility tool to resolve data errors or damage in your company file. This might cause issues when printing in the program. Here's how:

  1. In your QBDT Mac account, navigate to the File menu.
  2. Next, select Utilities.
  3. Then, choose select Rebuild Data, then select OK to close all windows.
  4. It will ask you to create a backup before rebuilding your file, simply click OK. This will ensure you'll have the original copy of your file that you can restore in case of accidental loss.
  5. Once the rebuild is completed, select OK.

We also need to ensure that your program is updated to the latest release to ensure you get the recent components and fixes.

When done, attempt to print again. If you're still unable to do so, let's now make sure that your Adobe Reader/Acrobat is compatible with your computer and that it is updated to the latest version.

I've added this article for an additional guide in fixing printing issues in QBDT Mac: Troubleshoot printing in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

To get additional resources and guides in performing your QuickBooks tasks, feel free to browse through our QBDT Mac Help articles page.

Keep me posted if you have any other printing concerns in QBDT Mac. I'm just a post away to help. Have a good one and take care.

I'm getting a Crash Catcher.

I've already rebuilt the data.

Still getting the crash catcher when I print.

A supervisor (Anna) was supposed to call me back yesterday per the Tech I spoke with, but I never received a call.

Hi there, Luis342.

I appreciate you for coming back to the thread and adding details of what you've done. I'll share an update about getting a Crash Catcher when printing in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. Then, ensure you'll be routed to the right support team to assist you further on this matter in order to get the most up-to-date information.

The issue about receiving a Crash Catcher when printing/saving templates as PDF with logo on mac OS v13 Ventura has recently been tagged as ongoing. Rest assured that our engineers are working to identify the cause of this issue.

For now, I suggest trying to remove the logo before printing the sales form or template. You can also use a template other than the default one as a workaround.

Then, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Desktop for Mac Support Team, so they can add you to our notification list. This will help our engineers determine the number of affected users. You'll also receive an update through email once this has been resolved.

 Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks. Then, go to Help and select QuickBooks Help.
  2. Choose Contact Us.
  3. Give a brief description of your issue and select Continue.
  4. Sign in to your Intuit account and click Continue and Continue with my account.
  5. We'll email you a single-use code. Enter your code and select Continue.
  6. Choose to chat with us or Have us call you.

Lastly, you may refer to this article to see various troubleshooting details on how you can fix common printing issues for QuickBooks: Troubleshoot printing in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

You can always go back to this thread if you have additional concerns with printing templates. I'm always happy to help, Luis342. Take care and have a great rest of the day!

So does the Quickbooks update 19.1.14.1106 solve all the issues Quickbooks 2020 for MAC was having with MacOS 13.0.01 Ventura?

I will NOT be downloading either one for now, until I get a 100% compatibility confirmation from an Intuit representative.  Thanks in advance, Daniel

Welcome to the Community, @DanLA.

Here is information on the operating system, hardware, software, and other needs to run QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 19.0 so you can have the best experience possible.

Every version of QuickBooks has its corresponding system requirements. QuickBooks Desktop requires Internet Explorer 11 as your browser. Since it's updated software, it should work with an updated browser to run QuickBooks seamlessly.

For the operating system, here are the compatible windows:

  • Windows 10, all editions including 64-bit, natively installed.
  • Windows 8.1 (Update 1) all editions with 64-bit natively installed.
  • Windows Server 2016.
  • Windows Server 2012 R2.

Here's an article where you find out more about QuickBooks Desktop system requirements which include the supported Operating System, Database Servers, Browser Requirements, and more: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale 19.0

You can check for the complete system requirements to run QuickBooks Desktop smoothly.

To compare the requirements with your device system information, you can check it before updating QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

Additionally, here's an article to guide you in managing your business using QBDT for Mac: User Guide. It contains topics about banking, lists, and getting paid to name a few.

Keep me posted for additional questions or other concerns about QuickBooks Desktop. I'd be more than happy to help.

Dear Ethel_A,

I don’t think your reply addresses my concern.  I don’t use Windows operating system on my Apple computer.  Did I misinterpret your response?

Dear LieraMarie,

so you are confirming that if I update my Mac 2020 version of Quickbooks to 19.1.14.1106 I will experience the best out of the software while running MacOS 13.0.01 Ventura?

I read your message and went to the System Requirements link you attached but didn’t see any specific mention of the new Ventura OS.

I would just like to see/read a confirmation reply from someone acknowledging “yes, they will work fine together without any of the errors previously mentioned in the questions above”.

Thanks in advance

Hi DanLA,

It's hard to confirm that an upgrade will be error-free. Even the most compatible software may still have errors. If you will be having some issues after updating, you can contact us again so we can help.

Take care and have a good one!

Terrible experience with QB Desktop 2020 with Ventura. Every time I go import transactions and categorize it crashes. Multiple times during one session. Very frustrating, can't seem to get anyone on the phone. And this is after they increased their prices and changed it to annual payments instead of every 3 years. Extremely disappointed in the experience. Would change if I didn't want to learn a whole new system again.

After more than 20 years using QB,  I downloaded Ventura on my iMac with desktop 2021.  It started crashing continually.  I finally called  QB.  I was required to purchase support to resolve the issue.  They spent a couple of hours trying to figure it out, concluding I needed to upgrade to desktop 2023.  After another hour or so (during my busy work day), after the 2023 was paid for and installed, the constant crashes continued.  I was told that I needed to report the problem to Apple and go back to the Monterey operating system.  A ridiculous recommendation.  I assumed others were experiencing the same problem.  Frequent crashes continue, and I continue to report them to QB and Apple.  QB tells me they are working on it but may never resolve the problem.  Very time consuming and disastrous for my business.

Yes, I am too waiting to know when this update will happen. It's such a hassle and waste of time with the work around that I'm having to do for every single estimate I need to send. Productivity has gone down the tubes since all this!

Let me shed some light on using the macOS Ventura, DanLA.

The macOS Ventura appears to be mainly compatible and operates normally based on our early tests with QuickBooks for Mac 2020. There are certain issues that do require attention, and we're striving to release updates as soon as we can to address them. For the most part, QuickBooks should work as expected.

I'm adding the link to our Community page for future reference. It includes online tools as well as articles to assist you in managing your accounting activities.

Keep me posted if you have other QuickBooks concerns or questions. I'll get back to respond to them. Have a great rest of the day.

Hi @DanLA - I can confirm that QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2020 is compatible with the Ventura OS. Here are the release notes for your version. If you toggle open the 'Release 15 (R15) 10/30/22' section you'll see a note about support being added for Mac OS 13 (Ventura).

Hello Rasa-LilaM,

I have severe trust issues with Intuit and Quickbooks. I am running MacOS and want to upgrade to Ventura. I am currently on MacOS Big Sur and all is well with my Quickbooks Mac Desktop 2020 R17.

Now that another five weeks have passed since your last message on this thread, can you confirm with me that QB Mac 2020 R17 works with MacOS Ventura 13.2 ?

I did review the System Requirement page at https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/product-system-requirements/system-requirements-quickbooks-desktop-2020-20-0/L8KLZFXbi_US_en_US   - but again, my trust issues don't fully trust the relatively vague information on that page.

I appreciate any guidance you can offer.

QuickBooks have system requirements for you to have the best experience, @JackThomas.

I appreciate you reading our helpful article that contains the system requirements for QuickBooks Mac 2020. I understand you have trust issues with QuickBooks because of your previous experience. I would feel the same way in the same situation.

Currently, the operating systems mentioned above are the tested ones. We cannot assure you that you will have the best experience with Ventura as it is not in the article.

Here is an article about the release notes for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2020: Release notes for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2020.

Leave a comment below if you have questions about the system requirements of QuickBooks Desktop. I'm always here to help. Have a great day.

Ethel, you see, this is precisely your company's problem. The company is not physically capable of providing clear information. For example, you say Ventura is not compatible, yet YOUR article that you reference suggests that it IS compatible. It says that:

  • R13 and later - At least macOS 10.15 (Catalina); supported by macOS 10.15 (Catalina) and later.

So, you contradict yourself, which causes people massive headaches and problems.

So is your article correct that if I have QB 2020 R17 then it is compatible with MacOS 13 (Ventura) which is "higher" (as you write) than 10.15 ????
