Can I transfer quickbooks to quicken

You can purchase a 3rd party service to convert data to Quicken but it will be expensive. I would recommend to convert your data to QB Desktop and use the trial version to access your historical data. Then you can start using Quicken from scratch.

Can I transfer quickbooks to quicken

Hello, jodygc50.

We recognize the significance of efficiently exporting your QuickBooks Online (QBO) data to Quicken. Our aim is to assist you by offering several methods to accomplish this task.

While it is not currently possible to convert QBO data to Quicken (you can only convert Quicken data to QuickBooks), there is a positive alternative available. Let me share two alternatives with you on how you can successfully convert your QBO data to Quicken.

The initial option involves manually exporting your reports, lists, and other data from your account. Here's how to do it:

  1. In QBO, go to the Settings (Gear icon) at the top right.
  2. Click Export data.
  3. On the Reports tab, set the date range.
  4. Add or remove items from the Reports and Lists tabs by turning the switch on or off.
  5. Tick Export to Excel to proceed.

For more information about the process, check out this article: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.

Once you have your data ready, the next step is to contact Quicken support for assistance with importing your data into their program. They will guide you through the process and ensure a smooth transition.

Another option is to use a third-party application that enables you to directly and efficiently convert your QBO data to Quicken. To find such an application, you can either navigate to the Apps menu within your QBO account or explore third-party apps outside of the QuickBooks website. This will provide you with a convenient solution for the conversion process.

Alternatively, you can follow 4Gal's suggestion mentioned earlier to convert your data to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). From there, you can manually convert your data from QuickBooks Desktop to Quicken using Excel.

I also recommend visiting our website for more tips and other resources you can use in the future: Self-help articles.

Please leave a comment below if you have follow-up questions about this or anything else. I'm more than willing to answer them. Take care always.

Can you elaborate?  I already have QB desktop.  How would I import that to quicken?  And it can only be Quicken Personal & Business? I currently use Quicken2  I appreciate any insight you can give me!

Since you already have QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), you can manually import your data to Quicken using Excel, stromm. Allow me to walk you through the process.

Start by exporting your Chart of Accounts (COA) and Vendor List. To export to IIF, here's how:

  1. Select UtilitiesExport, and then Lists to IIF Files from the File menu.
  2. Mark Chart of Accounts and Vendor List, then select OK.
  3. On the Export window from the Save in drop-down, choose the location where you want to save the IIF file (often, this will be your Desktop).
  4. In the File name field, delete the asterisk (*), then enter a file name.
  5. Select Save, then OK.

Afterward, export to Excel.

  1. Select Vendor Center from the Vendors menu,
  2. From the Excel drop-down, choose Export Vendor List.
  3. On the Export window, select Create new worksheet: in a new workbook, then choose Export.
  4. Save the Excel sheet.

Once you're done, export your information from Quicken into a .QIF format. For Quicken Home & Business, you can export/import the address book from Quicken in the .QIF format. For the step-by-step guide, please see this article: Convert from QuickBooks Desktop to Quicken.

Moreover, in case you need further assistance importing your QuickBooks data to Quicken, I'd recommend contacting their support directly.

Additionally, would you like to create a backup of your company file in QBDT for future data restoration purposes? You can check out this article to guide you through the steps: Back up your QuickBooks Desktop company file.

I'm always here ready to lend a hand if you have other concerns managing your QuickBooks data. Please don't hesitate to leave a reply below. Have a good one.

@stromm

Which QB Desktop year version do you have?

Pro 2023.  I'm moving my clients to the online version because I dont have a choice.  But my company is smaller & I'm not paying the increase to move myself to online.  I use Quicken for personal, so I'm just going to make that work.  This rate hike + forcing to go online is not working well for a small bookkeeping company such as myself.

Consider to use the trial version of QB Desktop 2023 Enterprise to access your historical data for good. Then you can start your data in Quicken from scratch.

You can't convert your data to Quicken easily and your QB Desktop program will be expired. But you can use the trial version of Enterprise for good to access your historical data. You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA for details.

thanks for your help!  One final question, if I may.  I've been using QB Desktop for Windows within Parallels on my Mac.  I'd like to do away with the Parallels subscription as well, since I wont need the Windows version anymore.  You suggested using the QB Desktop Enterprise trial version to access my historical data.  Does that also apply to the Mac Plus trial version or is it only the Desktop Enterprise that will allow historical data?

@stromm

You can convert your company file from Pro 2023 to Mac 2023 and use the version for good as well to access your historical data. You don't need Parallels for this purpose.

I only see the Mac 2024 trial.  Will that work?  I appreciate your help so much!

You need to use the same year version. Contact Fiat Lux and they can share the trial version for 2023.

I just called quicken for their help as mentioned in the instructions.  I was informed that there is no way to migrate FROM Quickbooks TO Quicken.

Amen.  Their prices keep going up and their levels of service keep going down.  I just contacted quicken support and was told there is no way to migrate FROM Quickbooks TO Quicken.  Manual entry is the only way.

@JJ4701

I would recommend the same workaround as 4Gal mentioned. Use thee trial version of QB Desktop to access your historical data for good and start a new file in Quicken.
