Has there been any progress on this issue?? I have uninstalled and reinstalled cleanly 3 times now and when you are converting from PC it will not allow you to grant permissions from the start. As suggested in previous posts, I have been through an extensive deep dive with Apple IT support, and this is NOT a security issue with Apple. On the QB PC version, you can revisit the initial authorizations at any time, this is not allowed on the MAC desktop version. It appears that this simple software patch would be a fix all for this issue. It seems that everyone here has went into the security preferences within MAC and went to the authorization tab and NOTHING IS THERE, because QB will not let us choose that option. Is a patch possible? Is anyone actually reading what your customers are saying?

I just purchased QB Desktop for Mac 2020 today so I could set up and us QB ACH payments via the app. I let the sales rep know that I have a 2017 MacBook Pro running iOS Catalina 10.15.4 (19E287). It would have been great to know before making the purchase that there was a known "Scripting Permission Problem" between the latest desktop version and Catalina! The tech support person I spoke with submitted/added my case to the growing list. Any news/update on when a patch/update will be rolled out?
Hello, @auroradlt06.
Regarding with this concern, it has an open investigation (INV-43564) which our engineering team are currently working on. For you to be notify with the latest update, you can visit our Intuit Blog.
Also I'm here to make sure that you will be updated of any progress with your concern. Feel free to tag my name for additional questions, take care!
Joseph_A,
What exactly is going to the Intuit Blog supposed to accomplish? The link you provided arrives at a landing page with generic QB blog topics. Searching for "INV-43564" yields "no results." If you are instructing those of us affected by this issue to get updates via the blog, please provide instructions that work. How about a link directly to the blog thread for this issue?
An update on my ongoing attempts to resolve this:
Hope this gets escalated. Interested to hear from other users if they find a solution (excluding the uninstall, delete old versions, reinstall - which doesn't work for me).
Hey there, @Micheal Lavender.
I appreciate you following back up with us.

This way, you can receive email updates about the investigation and when its resolved. You can use the link below to start a chat message with support.
Please let me know if you have further questions or concerns. You can always reach out to the Community or me anytime you find you need a helping hand. Take care!
I also am having the same problem with Quickbooks 2020 for Mac. I cannot email my statements as I have for years. This is my 5th version of QB and I am extremely frustrated. Will I be wasting my time if I can even get through to customer support. I have tried everything that I have read in these comments. I too want to continue to have these emails sent to my draft folder for further editing. Right now i get the same error everyone else is getting and nothing shows up in automation to select to allow control. Does not work on default or custom email.
I wish I could make it better, @JB70.
Our engineers are diligently working on fixing this as soon as possible. Since you've already performed all the troubleshooting steps discussed on this thread, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Support. Doing so, you'll be added to the list of affected users who will then receive all the updates via email.
In the meantime, you'll want to manually send the statement as an Email attachment:
Lastly, here's a few articles you can read for ideas about how you can manage your account and sales transaction: QuickBooks Desktop for MAC Help Articles.
We appreciate your patience as we're working on this please let me know in the comment section down below if you have any other questions.
This is truly incredible that the most basic function of this software wasn't tested with the OS it specifically lists compatibility with. It's the ONLY reason I bought the new version was so that I could us the newest Mac OS for other software reasons. Fix this
I'm having the same problem. When I go to the security settings I can see where I had allowed QB 2015 pries to execute a script to call the mail app, but QB 2020 isn't listed. I can't add it. It appears the installer didn't add the security option. Trying to get help from Intuit .....
Thanks for choosing QuickBooks.
I appreciate you for bringing up this concern.
You'll want to manually configure your firewall to allow QuickBooks from running.
Please follow the steps found in the article below (scroll-down to Manually configure exceptions and ports to your Firewall):
Configure Firewall and Internet security settings for QuickBooks Desktop.
However, if you're still unable to add QuickBooks after performing all the troubleshooting steps and , I recomment contacting our support team so they can provide you additional steps on how to successfully add QuickBooks. They also have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment.
For future reference, you can check these help articles for more information: Account Management.
Please let me know if you need anything else. I'll always be here to help.
Maybe you should look at INV 43564 supplied to us by QB who are supposedly working on fixing this problem instead of providing this ridiculous response which was also emailed to me. I have been patiently waiting for your fix to sending statements and invoices with QB 2020 for Mac
Hello, @JB70.
Our back end team has an update regarding the INV 43564. Let me share the steps to solve it.
Here's. how:
Before following the process make sure to back up your company file on your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
I recommend contacting our support to help you with the process. Please check out our support hours and contact us at the time available to you.
Let me know if you have additional questions by posting here in Community. Have a great day.
These instructions do not work because most of the text relates to Windows. I spent a good amount of time with a great tech support person from QB and she knew right away what to do. I have 2 Macs and we worked on one together and she sent me an email with directions for the other and I was able to do it with no problem. One of the macs is set up for MAIL and the other is for Outlook. Both work perfectly and I can save to draft folder on both before sending. Just a note that the problem begins with the R5 update which was what installed with my QB2020 for Mac . The uninstall is required because the setup has to be done with the R4 version.
Here is a copy of the email:

I also just upgraded and am affected by this.
I use this function quite a bit and I hope quickbooks resolve this issue!
Our engineers are closely working on a fix to this issue, Yuen.
I'd also suggest getting in touch with us so our Phone Support Team will add your account to the notification list. Updates and a permanent fix to this issue will be sent via email. I'll be giving you the steps again on how to contact us:
I do appreciate your patience while we're currently working on this issue. Leave a reply below if you need more help. You take care!
A question for ALL users affected by this issue (please reply):
I don't want to distract from the main issue being discussed here (inability to email invoices - of which I am an affected user), but I do have a question for everyone: Since this problem started with R5 QB 2020 for Mac, have you also experienced frequent, unexplained OS crashes / freezes (even when QB is not running)?
Again, that is not the topic of this thread, but it just hit me... I also have a case open with Apple (since January) stemming from near-constant Mac Catalina OS crashes (2-5 times per day). And guess what... the crashes started right when I installed R5 QB 2020. Are you having the same issue? Please reply if so. We may have a larger software incompatibility issue here.
Thanks all,
Micheal
Thank you for getting back to us, as well as taking the time and effort of bringing up this topic. You also mentioned that you contacted Apple support to know what's their take on this issue.
Although there isn't an investigation about this situation you stated on our end, I suggest getting in contact with Apple support again for an update of your issue, which is frequent crashes/freezes.
As for the main issue on this thread, seeing that you're already included on the list of our affected users, please allow our engineering team some time to pinpoint the cause. Once that's done, they'll be able to roll out a fix. By then, you'll receive an email notification letting you know of any updates.
I'll be around in case you need further assistance. Post a comment below, and I'll be sure to get back to you.
I am absolutely livid that this SIMPLE thing hasn't been solved. I tried everything from uninstalling / reinstalling to even digging in deep on some plist files to see if I can manually add quickbooks 2020 to the automation list. No dice -- this is ABSURD that we pay 300 dollars to get a completely crippled, buggy, and crashing piece of software and all we get in response is a bunch of NONSENSE recommendations from people who clearly don't understand the problem. This is widespread and if it isn't fixed in a week I am asking for a full refund and I'll be switching to Zero.
I have the same issue. I find the polite excuses a poor excuse for real support.
Did you stay on V4 or after everything is working upgrade to R5? TIA
This worked perfectly....even after going back to R5. Thanks very much.
Michael K
I tried to follow the steps for a clean install and I could not find the PLIST files in the Library. I am running MacOS Catalina and when you hold down the option key now it brings up "Quick look" and the Library folders seem to be there already but no PLIST files for intuit. What am I missing?
As a work around I have done the Custom email set up but as I commented in a message to Reymond0 I would really like to have the email function properly. It was really nice to have the mail app open and add recipients and double check that everything was correct. I asked to be put on the list of users so when a fix is available I will be notified.
I have been using QB2013 for years unsupported and have just switched over to QB2020 Mac so I would like to get this right from the beginning. So I am open to the reinstall and check Quickbooks in the Automation panel in System Preferences on first time the program is opened (now that I know)... :)
I just recently set up the payment option so I am really anxious to get going and send out my invoices this month.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
DART56
This works!! The important part is to have the download for Quickbooks R4 (this needs to be BOLDED and put at the top of the thread) via the link provided by the tech who helped out JB70
Important NOTE:
"Just a note that the problem begins with the R5 update which was what installed with my QB2020 for Mac ."
However, one glitch on my end. QB sends the invoice to Mail, it pops up in Mail and then Mail sends it automatically not leaving the email open to review and edit, etc. Any ideas on that one? That is basically the same as the "custom email" work around. NOT really what I was hoping for. Maybe it is a setting in Mail??
