Don’t hold your breath. This has been an issue for years. Nobody from intuit has ever even responded on this thread. And talking to their customer service is even more futile as they literally have zero clue about this issue. If your threat was real, you should just switch now. Intuit does not give a crap.
I got taken in by QB support. Told me I had to upgrade to 2022 to fix the issue, but guess what it didn't. So instead, i had to reload IE11, which would have fixed my QB2019 issue. Now does it not only not fix the issue, but I'm locked into annual renewal at the $400 I paid yesterday. This is nothing short of extortion and I'm stuck going back to going online, downloading the file manually then importing into bank feeds..
What happens when I have to upgrade to a windows 11 computer. Download IE11? This is madness
You can cancel your QBD 2022 license and ask for the refund within 60 days.
You can still buy a one-time license for QBD 2021 from a few partners. Use the trial license to make sure it solves your problem before buying it.
If you don't have any IT background, don't upgrade to Win 11 until QBD supports it natively.
I have some information about changing the default QuickBooks browser. QuickBooks Desktop (QDBT) works best with Internet Explorer (IE). It's the recommended default browser, and the option to change it is currently unavailable.
This is beyond insane. Intuit DELIBERATELY continues to advise customers to use IE, a discontinued product with major security flaws. The product NO OTHER channel partner uses. All those Intuit EMPL are bots, not a single one is a live person because no live person with an ounce of integrity would parrot the same BS over and over again without any regard for consequence and functionality. We are talking to faceless, useless corporate scum who laugh behind our backs as they trot out DL workarounds. In the 21st century. It is sad that Intuit no longer knows who to spell "customer", only "cash".
This has been a problem for QB for more than a few years and it is inconceivable that you have not fixed it yet. IE has been a defunct program for a few years now and if you don't want QB to be one too then fix this now or risk losing your customers. I cannot believe QB is so insensitive to its customers.
It's been over a year and you people keep saying the same thing. Are you tell us that QB doesn't have programmers that can fix this issue that any other company would have had fix in their next update? That is pathetic and sad. I may have to investigate better companies for my future needs.
I know that this hasn't been easy for you, mmjensen008.
I also understand that most online banking websites no longer support Internet Explorer for security purposes. While the option to integrate other web browsers is still unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop, I recommend sending feedback to our Product Development Team. Your suggestions and ideas will help us stay in tune with what our customers need, want, and expect. Here's how:
In the meantime, you'll want to consider directly downloading your transactions from your financial institution as a QuickBooks Web Connect (.qbo) file. Then, import it into the program.
I'm also adding this article to help review and categorize your online banking transactions: Add and match transactions.
You can always find me here if you have any other concerns or further questions about bank feeds. Stay safe and have a great rest of the day.
Wow… what an incredibly lame answer. Do you really work for quickbooks? Is it really the quickbooks team official answer that, after years and years of complaints, it is somehow our responsibility to send feedback to your team to remind them that they are using an insecure and unsupported browser to handle highly sensitive financial data? And that further we should consider just not using this critical feature of quickbooks as a workaround. Could you possibly be any more lazy or dismissive in your response? You should be embarrassed. I for one am disappointed and angry that this is the company’s official position. Seriously ridiculous.
Hi… thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, we just really don’t care. As a workaround though, please consider pounding sand.
Thank you for your money.
Maybe you could answer one simple
question… Why does quickbooks continue to use a discontinued, unsupported, and unsafe browser for this critical function? Don’t give us workarounds or ridiculous non answers. Just tell us what the reason is that you continue to use this browser?
To all who are following this thread… Intuit’s CEO is Sasan Goodarzi. My guess is that he has no clue that his product team continues to use IE 11 for this critical function. His Twitter handle is sasan_goodarzi. I think we should step up our game here. The quickbooks team is clearly incompetent or lazy or both. Let’s make it public that Quickbooks is an unsafe platform because of its use of IE11 for critical financial data. If people can use Twitter to ignite revolutions, maybe we can use it wake up the quickbooks team, if there even is one.
Maybe it is time to file a class action lawsuit to get this fixed.
this is basic functionality and why people buy the software
I copied the edge shortcut found on my desktop and placed it where I found IE C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories I then renamed the IE shortcut to _OLD and then renamed the edge shortcut to Internet Explorer

Brilliant! Too bad Intuit's "tech support" aren't.
I hope that others that try this post back.
YES!!!!!!
THANK YOU! Did what you suggested with Firefox and it works and you can activate the feeds.
Note however the internal browser within Quickbooks Desktop is still Internet Explorer so you have to go outside Quickbooks if to you view Outside Financial Institution's website that require Chrome, Edge or Firefox.
what an absolutely useless response. why did you even bother replying?
I tried renaming the Internet Explorer to old and renaming Edge to Internet Explorer and it did not work. What am I missing? Thank you for any assistance you can give me. Dena
Thanks for checking in with us, D Day.
We'll need to make sure you're using Internet Explorer 11 as your browser in QuickBooks Desktop 2020 (latest version). If you need to upgrade Internet Explorer, just follow the steps below:
Then, set Internet Explorer 11.0 as your default web browser. Here's how:

@RCV Nope. In case it isn’t already clear from the five or six years we have been discussing this, it makes NO DIFFERENCE what you select as your default browser as QBDT will only select IE 11 no matter what your computer’s default browser is. So PLEASE DO NOT change your system default as IE 11 is not recommended by any other software company, including Microsoft, who no longer support it. To install IE11 is NOT an upgrade, it is a downgrade. Sadly, you do have to have it because Intuit has still not fixed this issue.
SMH, you would think Intuit is smart enough to provide us with a patch, because IE 11 is NO LONGER supported by Microsoft, as soon as someone provide a better mouse trap to QB we jumping ship, cause all Intuit cares about is the money not the customer.
I attempted this but it did not work. Machine is Windows 10 Pro, Build 19042.
I made rename changes in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Windows Accessories
I also created a new folder Accessories as well, but no joy. I did not reboot PC or make other changes. Version is Quickbooks Premier 2021.
its all linked to IE. physically remove IE from the computer and it will default to the browser you have as the default. Get a password manager that will auto fill the user name and password. Just try not to use too many computers because then they will bust your baslls asking you constantly for verification codes.
