Classes in Sales Receipts

I am new to QBO, so I apologize if the answer to this is obvious. I set up some products in our account and et up a batch account. I also have classes enabled. I'm making my first sales receipt and I can't seem to save it. I keep getting the error message "The transaction has one or more missing Class fields." Here is a screen shot - I don't see where I am missing a class field. Help, please?

Thanks for coming back here, @VASOTreas.

I'm here to help you clear things up.

Since the class is already assigned to each item, you can click the Yes button on the prompt error because it will still be saved on your sales receipt transactions.

Moreover, you have a choice to avoid this prompt error by turning off the "Warn me when a transaction isn't assigned a class" feature on the Account and Settings. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. On the Your Company column, select Account and Settings.
  3. Choose Advanced.
  4. Scroll down to Categories, then uncheck the "Warn me when a transaction isn't assigned a class" by ticking the box beside it.

  5. Click Save, then Done.

If you want to see transactions sales performance by class, you can read this article: Run reports by class in QuickBooks Online.

I'm delighted to have you here. Please come back if you have more questions about QuickBooks-related concerns. I'll be happy to assist. Take care, and have a good one!

Welcome to the Community. I'd be happy to assist you today!

We can perform basic troubleshooting steps to see if it is a browser issue. Sometimes your search engine's cache and cookies become corrupted, causing problems when accessing websites or opening files. To begin, open your QBO account in an incognito window. It will prevent the browser history from being saved. Please refer to the following keyboard shortcuts based on your browser type:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If the private browsing session works, clear the browser's cache so the system can restart. This task is also possible in other supported, up-to-date browsers. Clearing the cache will reboot the system, allowing you to work with clearing the cache. It will also help you get rid of any junk files that might be slowing down your work.

I'm sorry, but I tried all of that and none of it worked. The private browsing window didn't work (I use Safari), but I went ahead and cleared the cookies and cache. And then rebooted the machine. All to no avail.

Thanks for the update, @VASOTreas. I'll add some insights to save your sales receipts seamlessly.

Beforehand, I'd like to ask if you've encountered the same error message shown in the visual reference below:

This prompt message shows when you have transactions entered that need a class. You'll want to double-check if all details entered were complete and accurate. Once verified, you can click Yes on the error message. It allows you to save the transaction.

If you don't want this error message to show, turn it off from the Accounts and Settings. Here's a visual reference for your guide:

You are right - that is the error message I am getting. In my initial post, I attached a picture of my sales receipt to show that I had a class everywhere. I am attaching another version of it now showing the error with the classes showing in the background. In your example you posted to me, the class is actually missing. But in mine I had classes filled in and was getting the error. Am I understanding you correctly in saying that I should just press "yes" anyway and save the transaction, even though QBO thinks that I am missing information?

I am appreciating all the prompt help people are working to give.

Thank you all. I don't know why I'm getting the error message warning me about the classes not being present - my hypothesis is that it has to do with a batched product, since it doesn't happen when the product is unbatched. But everyone is right that, as long as I do have all the classes there, it records properly when I ignore the message and accept. Thanks.
