And we can thank EVERYONE who has spoken up about this fiasco! I am inclined to believe that Intuit wouldn't have reacted as quickly had WE NOT ALL spoken up.

@KayIntuit Intuit - I have Mac Desktop 2019 and do NOT yet see an update. When is that coming? Urgent -- I am totally paralyzed and can't do a thing.

@KayIntuit @quickbook @qbsupport INTUIT: I do not see an update for QB 2019 Desktop Mac -- you fixed 2021 but you need to fix 2019 as well as we are all PARALYZED otherwise. Please tell us when it'll be ready.

Hi @sha66y - I'm happy to hear that everything is now functioning well for you.
1) I'll notify the team to update the Downloads page to the latest release of version 2021. We will update that today.
2) Yes, window tabbing is okay and should not cause issues. Of course, if you notice anything, please let us know immediately so we can check.

Hello I am on Desktop 2019 not 2021, as many of us are. The software was working great until Sonoma and now I am losing thousands a day because I can't use this software with NO alternative available.

When is the 2019 update coming? If you aren't updating it, I need you to offer a free upgrade to a version that works as this is clearly NOT my fault and there was NO warning about this. Thank you.

@SantaMonica2019MacUser

QBD 2019 is outdated. I am not sure they will bother releasing any patches.

Call Intuit Sales team today to purchase a new license of QBD 2024 or buy it through selected partners.

Thanks but 2019 was NOT outdated for me - it was working JUST fine until a MacOS update. So I know the company likes to upsell on much more expensive software but when my existing version was working just fine, there's zero need to buy new software, especially when it comes with much higher and recurring costs. If the company would like to provide the working software as a courtesy, I will happily accept it.

Intuit needs to be very clear that they are going patch 2019 MacDesktop that was broken by Sonoma.  They did not notify anyone that there were issues with Sonoma prior to it's release and need to do right by their clients.  I appreciate that they have quickly fixed and patched 2021-2024, but I would like them to patch 2019 so it runs on Sonoma as well.   There appear to be quite a number of us out there that use 2019.  It does everything I need it to do and does it well.  If they are not going to support going forward then send an email to all registered users letting them know Sonoma is the last patch they are going to do.  I am happy to acknowledge that email for future issues.  It is not right that versions from 2019 forward suddenly crashed without warning with Apple's Sonoma upgrade. Please patch 2019.  Happy to send repeatable crash logs from both Apple and Intuit. My version is

QuickBooks 2019 ver, 18.0.14.3478 R15

My problem: I can login without issue.  I can open the both of my accounts.  I can get to Chart of Accounts in Ribbon Menu or the No Company Open Menu no problem.  When I attempt to open the Bank (egister) or other items on the ribbon menu, it opens for a couple of miliseconds and writes to the screen and then crashes. A brief flash just to let me know what I am missing!  The same is true for all other items.  Reports, and Vendors allow me to open to their respective pages without crashing, but as soon as I attempt to do anything with them, I get the same repeatable action as I do when I click on Bank (the register) in Chart of Accounts.Customize.  Brief screen draw and then QB crashes  This is what needs to be fixed for me on 2019.  I would encourage other 2019 users to let Intuit know what is happening to your version as well.  Thanks again for what you have donefor 2021-2024 Intuit.  Now please do the right thing and make 2019 work with Sonoma.

I 100% agree with this. Same version of 2019 Desktop Mac. There was NO warning. This isn't a video game or other "optional" app that can crash and die without consequences. Businesses like mine are INCAPACITATED and losing thousands a DAY. There are REAL FINANCIAL DAMAGES from this.

Intuit should, for 2019 users, either immediately update the software OR offer users a one-time courtesy upgrade to a WORKING version that does not require a subscription. This really isn't hard. Do the right thing. Please

Add my 2 cent that, as well, I'm on 2019 with the same issue.

I feel for the 2019 users, but I think they announced in July they sunsetted 2020 and I assume earlier versions. I have no idea, but for $680 annually (QB 2024), I might consider going with a used Air running Ventura for $400-$500. Not what 2019 users want to hear, also maybe Intuit will make good on this and fix for you guys, but it seems the writing's on the wall as to where licensing and licensing costs are headed with Intuit an Mac users.

I would agree if this weren't what seems like a relatively simple fix.  If it's not it would be good, IMO, for Intuit to publish here why its not simple to increase confidence in their commitment to customer service.

Quickbooks and Quicken have turned into web subscription services, something I detest, since I backup all of my files to iCloud (which I trust) and also a portable G Drive using Time Machine. I've been using QuickBooks desktop for years and know it well, as does my accountant.

It looks as if Intuit wants its cash registers to go "ka-ching" rather than serving legacy customers. It's worse than a pity.

How did you get it to update? I'm running QB 2022 and I go to Check for Updates and Update to the latest version of Quickbooks. It says I'm up to date on both commands. I wonder if Intuit is going to reimburse my Federal Tax late payment fee that's due on the 15th.

I have a QB Mac Plus subscription for the desktop. It goes kaching every year for ~$650

@KayIntuit @quickbook @qbsupport  - I am with @SantaMonica2019MacUser , I have a QB 2019 Desktop for Mac installation that is useless right now. I also am a QBO user for another account. This is absolutely unacceptable to have a OS upgrade render the QB 2019 application unusable. I know you have a fix for 2021, but 2019 needs a fix so that we can perform our financial functions.

We told our clients today, they will have to wait until next week in the hope that Intuit releases patches for QBD 2020 and 2019. If they don't make any concessions for QBD 2020, then there is no need to expect anything for QBD 2019. Last resort, they will have to accept to buy QBD Mac Plus. Otherwise, use the trial version of QBD Windows for good on Parallels.

I considered the same thing but I decided I'll never do parallels again.  This is not 1996 where Macs are rare rather than ubiquitous. If Intuit is not willing to treat me at least as well as their windows users they can suck an egg.

Facing the same decision as you I've decided to move to WAVE which is FREE and can do EVERYTHING QB2019 did for me.  I acknowledge that it will be painful moving everything over but if they are not willing to do this I think the writing is on the wall and they don't deserve our business.

I suspect you'll eventually come to a similar conclusion after you get sick of being a second-class citizen on parallels.

@boan

Compared to Wave, I prefer Manager.io (Desktop version) to run on Mac for free.

https://www.manager.io/

then you can use another free app to manage bills and bill payments for free with ACH.

You can get $100 as cashback.

wow, thanks fiat lux.

ill take a good look. its nice to know there are options out there. how come you prefer Manager.io over wave?

sad that we would have to have these conversations at a place like this...

I remain the optimist until they come out and say they are not going to do anything to help their clients out.  I have not seen that posted anywhere yet, although many are suggesting that they will leave us high and dry.  They will be alienating a lot of customers if they do not make the attempt to remedy the 2019 problem with Sonoma.  I am not sure that they are going to arbitrarily do that without taking a hard look at the problem first.  I am assuming that is what is going on now.  Again, I could be wrong but believe that they have to share the responsibility for not communicating there was an issue with Sonoma for all versions, when they were aware that there was.  Let's hope for the best and that they do the right thing or at least clarify that they will or will not patch 2019 for Sonoma.  Need some finality so people can choose their next steps.

how come you prefer Manager.io over wave?

I still prefer to store my core financial data locally rather than cloud-based applications (e.g. Wave). Another problem is that Wave stopped its service in most countries several years ago. I want to reduce the headache for clients when they stop their services completely in the US. You could learn about the difficulties when GoDaady Bookkeeing discontinued its service last year. You need to incur costs to convert data to other programs.
