eftps password will not work through QB

When scheduling an eftps payment I get a message from QB that states "Internet Password has expired" but if I log onto the eftps website directly the password works fine.  eftps says it is a QB issue.  Can you help?

eftps password will not work through QB

Let me first welcome you here in the Community, CI5100.

I'm here to ensure you're able to schedule an e-payment in QuickBooks.

The message that you've encountered is an indication that your EFTPS password has expired. You'll have to update the password on the  EFTPS website to successfully schedule payment.

After that, let's change your password in QuickBooks Desktop to match the new one. Before we proceed, make sure to update QuickBooks to the latest release, and the latest tax table updates are downloaded.

Here are the steps in updating the password in QuickBooks:

  1. From the Employees menu, select Payroll Center.
  2. Choose the Pay Liabilities tab.
  3. In the Pay Taxes & Other Liabilities section, select the federal liability to e-pay.
  4. Click View/Pay.
  5. Verify that E-payment is selected, and then select E-pay.
  6. Clear the Remember My Information for next Time checkbox.
  7. Enter your 4-Digit PIN and the new EFTPS Internet password.
  8. Type in the other necessary information.
  9. Once done, click on Submit.

The next time you make an e-payment, re-enter your 4-Digit PIN and EFTPS Internet password.  Then, select the Remember My Information for next Time option. That way, QuickBooks will not utilize your old credentials.

However, if the issue persists, you can pay your taxes through the EFTPS website and then record them in QuickBooks.

Additionally, to ensure that your payment or form is received by the agency on time, I encourage you to check out this article to verify your payment status: Check E-file or E-pay Status.
