Any idea how to get rid of this space? We're running QB Enterprise Solutions 21.0 on Windows Server 2012 R2.
Hi, @PoolHero1. I know some troubleshooting steps to help you get rid of this space when generating estimates and get you back in business.
The blank space on the right corner of the Estimate screen is for the Customer and Transaction tab. You can click the expand button to view or hide the tabs. See the screenshot below for reference.
In your situation, it appears that the tabs were hidden, yet the space they occupy remains. Certain tasks in QuickBooks Desktop cause the application or system to act weirdly. These are brought on by issues with your computer or how QuickBooks interacts with your system. To ensure you have all the latest components, be sure to update the application to the most recent release.
If you're on the updated version and the issue remains, let's repair the program by downloading the QuickBooks Tool Hub. It resolves common issues such as system failure.
Here's how to download and install it:
The hub acts as a starting point for the tools you'll use to address issues, and each tab aids with various kinds of problems. To learn more about the process, see this link: Fix company file and network issues with QuickBooks File Doctor.
Furthermore, I'm adding an article that contains several troubleshooting solutions in case you're unable to access your company file: Can't open your company file in QuickBooks Desktop.

It's working for the moment. Thank you.

Unfortunately the empty space has returned.
Hello there, @PoolHero1.
The right part of your estimates is a collapsable tab that shows the Customer's info and transactions related to him. It's a helpful feature that helps you with your transactions.
Since the past problem appeared again, let's fix this by following the troubleshooting steps below:
Open your QuickBooks and see if the space on the estimate returns to being a normal tab. If the problem continues, you can refer to this link and proceed to Solution 2.
Here's an article on solving common errors in the program: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.

This is still happening and does not appear to be version or installation related. You can easily replicate by collapsing the right-hand sidebar on any page that allows you to change a template and then changing the template. Confirmed happening on Quickbooks Premier Plus 2023 Release R14P, but have had multiple customers report the same issue on different versions.
Your participation in this thread is much appreciated, CJ86. As per checking, we don't have an open investigation regarding the estimate's side panel not disappearing when hidden. No worries, I'm here to help you handle this matter.
The empty column visible when generating an Estimate works as designed. Once you select a Customer:Job in the designated field, the customer's complete details and existing transactions, along with their balances, appear on this part of the page.
As you've mentioned, we can minimize this section by clicking the Hide history > button.
If the customer history portion of the estimate doesn't shrink when clicking the Hide button, let's reproduce the steps in installing and running the Quick Fix tool from the Tool Hub to narrow down the result. Here's how:
Nevertheless, please follow Solution 2 of this link if you encounter the same problem: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
