Same issue. No data problems detected.
Hopefully, this will get resolved before July.
Thanks,
Mark
I am getting the same error code and I agree with everything everyone is saying about QB support. It is horrrible. It used to be the Cadillac, now it's a broken down old Dodge. It's always at least an hour's phone call, if you can even find someone to talk to, or waiting on hold for an hour. If another software product appears good enough to replace it, I'm on board.
OK! Success!
Thanks for the advise about calling!
I just got a call back from Intuit Support. - and fixed the issues in few minutes!
YOU HAVE TO CALL THEM - AND DO A SCREEN SHARE!
Apparently there is a "realm" number thus QB uses and it seems that QB Payroll has the incorrect Realm Number.
You need to resets the Payroll login and input the correct realm number and then login to payroll again and it works..
Have a nice day!

This did nothing. I did not have file errors.
Can someone please post the Support phone number? I can't find it anywhere and when I got thru on the sales line over to Support, I was unable to talk with someone. Thanks.
I appreciate you for sharing the error message you’ve received on your end, RoadWirer.
Just to verify, have you already tried the steps provides by my colleagues above? If so and you're still getting the same error, getting in touch with our Customer Support team. They have tools such as screen sharing that can check your QuickBooks. And perform other troubleshooting steps to help this fix.

Here's my update.
I spoke with a team member who wanted to make sure this problem was fixed. She screen-shared me and took me through the fix. It took about an hour and the resultant fix was that I had to change my "realm ID" in the program. Once that was changed, everything worked just fine.

I am also experiencing Error Code : 40001
Updating a few missing items prior to July 31st sounds simple enough.
Please fix this problem QB
Hi there, kah2.
Let me route you to the best support so this will be taken care of as soon as possible.
This issue occurs when the Realm ID within your QuickBooks is no longer matches the number we have in our payroll system. Please ensure that your QuickBooks Desktop and payroll tax table is updated to the latest release.
If the issue persists, I'd suggest reaching out to our Payroll Support. They have the tools to check the Realm ID and proceed with the troubleshooting steps.
Here's how:
In addition, you can check this guide to get additional information about entering payroll info: Add historical payroll information to your QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.
Add a comment if you have further questions about direct deposit. The Community and I will always here to back you up. Have a great day!
I am having the same problem. I have two companies with payroll accounts that have different EINs. I was getting the same error code on both when trying to update payroll info. I have both companies set up for automatic updates. I did a manual update even though there were no new updates available. I was then able to update the info for one of the companies but still gettiong the 400001 error code when I try to update the other. The quality of customer service provided by Intuit Quickbooks has declined dreadfully. I hope this issue is resolved soon.
Resolved! Thank you to the wonderful support person who did a screen-sharing session with me and stepped me thru the update process. The steps could have been documented and much frustration avoided.
My mistake was trying to find a phone number. Follow the directions in QB:
I was called back about the time it said in the message and she stepped through the update.
Hopefully next time I will remember about the QB Desktop Help.
This experience left a bad taste in my mouth!!!

I've been dealing with Quickbooks/Intuit for over 25 years - unfortunately, this is how they roll.
I've been using QuickBooks/Intuit for over 25 years - unfortunately this is how they roll.
All these "fixes" don't work. Ran verify 2x, no issues found. Rebuilt anyway. Still getting the error code.
I'm now waiting on my second chat this morning. The first, after asking a bunch of questions, said they needed to get me to the correct person to handle this. I entered this first chat through the Help option in QB! I had to disconnect from that chat and I'm on hold for the second. I got to work at 8 am this morning and have gotten very little done due to trying to find a fix for this mess. Way to go INTUIT!
Im having the same problem. Error Code 40001 AND waiting for a response from their tech support that NEVER EVER COMES!.....And it looks like their answer to everything is "Rebuild Data"...WHICH HAS NEVER FIXED ANYTHING for me...I don't know about the rest of you guys.
I can confirm the "Realm ID" reset solution. You'll need to chat with support. Specifically the payroll support chat (I had to wait another hour after being on hold with general support chat) this is the link: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/prechats/offerings/Messaging-DIY-Payroll/23062/view
They'll ask to remote into your computer to update it. They'll check some info and then you'll go to Help / Reset Intuit ID Settings / type ctrl R and enter the new number they give you. Then they'll have you log back into your quickbooks.com intuit account to update it and you can go forward with the update information. Btw, the Realm ID appears to just be the Company Intuit ID under account information when you hit F2 in Quickbooks. You'll still need to get the new number from support though. Have fun!
Thanks for this post.
I called the sales number [removed] and select option 1. Then tell them that you need to speak to the payroll support and they will confirm your quickbooks account, and then transfer you to the payroll support team. Tell the support team that you need to reset the REALM ID which is your QB Customer ID number. It will take less than 5 minutes for them to reset it on their end and once you do that, tell them to stay on the line to make sure it works. Then try the update for the payroll information and you should be able to log in and update the information. Once you are all done updating the information, they can verify that it came through on their end. Once confirmed, then you are set to do your payroll.
call the sales number found on the top right of this page (for Sales call the 877 number) it was removed from my previous post by QB
