I recently moved my QB Company Files to my iCloud account, so I could access my QB2016 from both my MacPro running High Sierra and my MacBookAir running Mojave. I installed a new copy of QB2016 on the MacBookAir. I cannot update my Mac Pro as it's 12 years old. I did buy a NEW copy of QB2020 which I'll install once I get my new MacMini and Update the MacBoodAir to BigSur.
However, I have 3 company accounts and they all work OK, but when I did a Utilities Verify Data, I received an ERROR message....I tried to REBUILD, but that locked up the QB APP. I was able to QUIT QB, and as stated, all 3 companies opens and functions OK, but I would really like to FIX the errors before moving on to installing QBMAC2020 on my new MacMini and my MacBookAir.
I have 10+ years of historical on the company files, and would prefer NOT to lose them.
Thanks
Phil
Hello, Phil.
Good work on running the Verify and Rebuild tool. I can direct you to a team who can check the data integrity of your files.
We want to take a closer look at the files and check to see what's causing the error message. You'll want to contact our support to do this. They have the tools to scan the files and ensure you'll be able to upgrade to the 2020 version.
They'll also ensure you won't lose those ten years' worth of data. To reach them:
I'd like to do it here. However, doing this requires me to check the files securely (which we're unable to do in a public space).
After getting your MacMini, I recommend checking this article out if you need help installing the 2020 version: Install and set up QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

This thread is still open if you have questions working on QuickBooks Mac 2020. I'm here to help.
Hi, Thanks for the reply.....so I'm a bit perplexed, as with all the errors, the APP and my 3 companies appear to be working OK....I don't know if these are recent error or ones that have accumulated over the years.
I'm wondering if running the APP on two computers has caused this? I stored/saved the company files on iCloud since it keeps a copy of the file locally, but synchronizes all other copies, which there is only 1 computer. I've never kept QB open on the two computers at one time.
Phil
Sharing a QuickBooks file via iCloud (or DropBox, Box, etc) could lead to problems in versions prior to QuickBooks Mac 2019. The 2019 version added iCloud sync to handle the use case you describe.
Even in 2016 if you always quit out of QuickBooks when leaving one machine and if you allowed sufficient time for iCloud to update the second machine before opening QB then you should be ok so don't worry yet.
The important thing is what errors is verify reporting? Some errors are not that bad.
I appreciate your reply. I did NOT see any adverse effects when I set up my MBAir and MBPro with the iCloud company files. I was VERY careful to NOT try to open them both up at the same time, actually it sends a message the FILE is open on another computer, as I had forgot to terminate one of the instances of QB.
I think the problem started long before adding the 2nd computer and sharing iCloud company files. HOWEVER, there does NOT seem to be any negative issues, as I access all 3 companies daily and they all work fine...including invoicing, inventory control, P.O.s and the Check and Register.
Here are a 'few' of the error messages I'm getting:

Verify Tables/Indexes: Missing Table/Index = Z_activities_recNum
Verify Tables/Indexes: Missing Table/Index = Z_auditDictItems_recNum
Verify Tables/Indexes: Missing Table/Index = Z_auditDictItems_dictString

My concern is when I get my new MacMini setup I'll be installing a NEW 2020 copy of QB Mac and update my MBAir QB and the OS to Big Sur to match the MacMini. Converting the 2016 files to 2020 is the concern. I guess I'll backup my originals and give it try with the copies. (I will be crossing my fingers during the upgrade LOL).

I have some updated info:
I have 3 companies on my QB MAC 2016, two of the them display the errors previously reported.....MOST of them are DUPLICATE FILES - see below for text from the Verify routine.
I'm speculating that the errors were caused MANY years ago when I moved from QB202009 to QB2016, however as previously noted, the two affected Companies OPEN and operate what seems like normal....check register, P.O., Invoice Checks etc. When I look at the company data, I don't see the duplicate names etc.
I have one other company, that I added a few months ago, and THAT company reports NO ERRORS, which make me more confident it's not the QB APP that is corrupt.
My MAIN issue is: I'm moving to QBMAC2020 and need to import/convert the 3 companies...and two of them have this stated problem. Is this something the Support Group can correct economically ?
I tried to REBULD one of the problematic files and it locked up the APP and I had to FORCE QUIT, I'm concerned that I will damage the file beyond repair if I try it again. The two affected companies do work OK now.

I made a backup copy of the Company File, I then applied the Verify, and then the REBUILD but the APP locked up and I had to FORCE QUIT ( It said NOT RESPONDING). The Company File still functions, But I can' get rid of the errors.
I'll discuss the steps and cost with the Support Team
