Fixed Asset Manager QB Post journal entry - missing account numbers

I am new to FAM.  I have been able to syn QB to FAM and have my fixed assets defined in FAM.  I can get the depreciation projections.  When I select post  journal entries, I see the depreciation expense account and the accum depreciation account and am asked for the debit and credit.  I do not get the option of posting the journal as it is greyed out.  When I preview the journal entry, the account number field is blank.  How to resolve?

Fixed Asset Manager QB Post journal entry - missing account numbers

I've got you covered, @CVM.

One of the possible reasons why the Account number field is blank is that the option isn't turned on. Let's enable the account number feature to resolve it. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Edit menu, then select Preferences.
  2. Click Accounting from the left menu.
  3. Select the Company Preferences tab.
  4. Check the Use account number box.
  5. Click OK.

Once done, you also want to make sure you've entered an account number when setting up the Fixed Asset Manager. This way, the account number will show when you preview the journal entry. For more guidance, feel free to check out this article: Set up Fixed Asset Manager (FAM).

Just in case you encounter errors in Fixed Asset Manager (FAM) in the future, you can read this article to learn how to fix it: Resolve errors or unexpected results in Fixed Asset Manager (FAM).

Should you need further assistance with Fixed Asset Manager, I'm still open to your replies. Have a good one, @CVM.

Fixed Asset Manager QB Post journal entry - missing account numbers

Hi Mark,

I verified the 'use account numbers' was checked. I had followed the instructions when I set up FAM.  I printed out your recommended article on resolving errors.  I made sure the accumulated depreciation in QB = the FAM balance, since I was moving from QB 2019 pro to 2022 premier accountant.  Finally, I started all over with the upgrade.  I received a server busy error message.  I selected try again and it seemed to resolve.  Asset information updates to and from QB.  It's just the deprecation journals that won't work, which is a problem because this is the most important feature.

Thanks for following up with the Community, CVM. I appreciate you performing Mark_R's recommended troubleshooting and detailing some of the other things you've tried.

Since your option to post journal entries is still greyed out with a blank account number, I'd recommend using our Verify Data feature to see if anything needs to be rebuilt.

Here's how:

  1. Choose Window, then Close All.
  2. In your top menu bar, go to File.
  3. Click Utilities.
  4. Select Verify Data.

After verification is complete, you'll see one of a few possible messages. I've listed each of them and their meanings:

  • "QuickBooks detected no problems with your data," - No action is required.
  • "Your data has lost integrity," - This indicates that there's data damage in your company file. You'll want to perform a rebuild to correct the problem.
  • An error message could display. If so, there might be an article about it. Try searching Intuit's QuickBooks Desktop support site for specific instructions.

If your Verify/Rebuild Data utilities didn't solve the issue, you can get in touch with our Customer Care Team so they can conduct further research:

  1. In your top menu bar, go to Help, then QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Enter a brief description of the issue in our Ask a question (or tell us what's wrong) field.
  4. Hit Continue.
  5. Select We’ll contact you for a callback or Message Us to start an instant messaging session.

They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research, and create an investigation ticket if necessary. Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.

I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Have a wonderful day!

I tried all of your suggestions, including calling support.  Unfortunately, I tried calling support last.  It turns out there were known problems with FAM in QB2022.  Intuit is releasing fixes in its updates in the next day or two.

Hi Andrew,

I tried creating the journal entries as Carneil indicates below.  This did nothing.  I recommend requesting the updates found in the help menu or calling support.

CVM,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

To be blunt, my experience calling support has been a dead end for a couple of weeks now. If we are both facing the same issue, it could be something that Quickbooks will need to patch soon. Wish you the best.
