Fixed Asset Manager

I am using Fixed Asset Manager as a stand alone.  I am trying to import a csv file. I get to "defining your import template" and when I try to assign the FAM fields it will only allow me to do one field then the others won't give me a drop down to assign the field.

Fixed Asset Manager

Hi bfroestad,

Thanks for sharing your concern with importing your CSV file data through the Fixed Asset Manager. I'm happy to help you get this resolved.

The possible reason for this is the conflict with dual monitor configuration or video drivers. You can do the steps below to fix this. However, if you're not comfortable doing them on your own, you may consult an IT Professional since these steps are technical in nature.

  1. Close all applications, then restart your computer in Safe Mode with Networking.
  2. Try importing your .csv file to FAM.
  3. (Optional) Do a selective startup to disable startup items and services.

Here's an article for your additional reference: Resolve errors or unexpected results in Fixed Asset Manager (FAM).

Let me know how the steps work for you. I just want to make sure that your concern is addressed so you can continue working on your file. Take care!

I tried the suggestion of restarting the computer in safe mode and turning off all my monitors but one and it still would not allow me to make more than one mapping selection.  I finally figured it out.  The FAM mapping screen is simply broken in terms of using the mouse to click on the drop down arrow and then clicking on the field you want to map.  When you do this, you'll notice that the entire name of the field does not get selected.  Instead, it only selects the first few letters and is not truly making an actual selection.  That is why it will not allow you to move on to another field to map the next field in your import.  It still does not consider the first field to be mapped.  You have to actually click within your mouse in the middle of the selection you made (which is currently not fully spelled out) and then backspace and type out the selection you want.  When you type enough letters, you can then press tab and it will fill in the rest of the mapped field name and allow you to move on to the next field, for which you'll need to repeat the same process.

I spend $1,000+ to upgrade to Enterprise specifically for the asset manager; it is broken - will not let you post to QB.  I have spent over 25 hours with support. NO ONE WILL GET ADVANCED SUPPORT TO WEIGH IN. Here's what I see - I think it is likely that others are having similar issues because FAM is BROKEN:

Here's what the post to QB General Journal Box is supposed to look like and does after a fresh install of the program (Works correct when first installed). Notice the date box in the depreciation through date [see image]:

undefined

After uninstalling and reinstalling QB Enterprise V22 - we eventually discovered that the Posting box was getting corrupted after running updates on the program from the Help - Update QuickBooks. After it runs update (that update includes one in the FAM) then the posting box loses the date that is supposed to be there and as a result all the posting information is either missing or not accurate - now FAM is corrupted and no longer works correctly.  Here's what it looks like after running the update:

undefined

Running the tool hub fixes do NOT fix this; repairing the program from the repair option will fix it for only one post - then it breaks again.  There is obviously some type of FAM corruption. All six tier agents I've talked with are beginning to have customers that are having similar issues.
