Join nowHello,
We recently noticed we could no longer go into Multi-user mode for our QuickBooks 2016 (Premier). I have tried following the H202 guide but to no avail. When running the Quickbooks Database Server Manager on our server (where our company file is located) I get the following two messages.
QBDBMgrN not running on this computer
Windows Firewall: Disabled exceptions not defined
I have gone into the services.msc of the server and doubled click on the QuickbooksDBXX and select "Automatic" (it was set to "manual") for the startup type and Restart the Service for the first, second, and subsequent failures. But after trying to start I get the following message
"The QuickBooksDB26 Service on Local Computer started then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.
At this point I am not sure what to do and hoping for some guidance on getting this fixed.
Thanks.
Thanks for sharing the details you’ve done to resolve this, @mjoshua.
Allow me to share with you some details about the error you receive and how to get around this.
The error message usually pop-ups when there is something blocking your multi-user connection to your server. Normally, to fix this, we’ll need to run the QuickBooks Database Server Manager.
Since the issue persists after running the server manager, you’ll want to ensure to download the latest version of QuickBooks Tool Hub. This way, we can guarantee that the result is accurate when running the tool. Once updated, run the tool again to double-check. For more details and additional troubleshooting steps, check out this article for reference: How to fix Error H202 and H505.
If you still receive the error message after updating our QuickBooks Tool Hub, I suggest running our QuickBooks File Doctor to isolate this. This tool easily fixes common file and network issues in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Let me show you:

Hello,
Thank you for the response. I tried the option you have suggested and did not have any luck. I did get a message saying...
QBDBServer unreachable. Looks like QBDBServer is down. Order to resolve this issue please run this tool on the server machine.
So I ran the file doctor on the server and chose the file and network option and got the message...
QBDBMgrN not running on this computer.
Thank you for the assistance in helping me.
Hi there, @mjoshua.
Thanks for getting back to us and sharing the outcome of the basic troubleshooting method mentioned by my colleague.
The error "QBDBMgrN not running on this computer" appears because the firewall is preventing the connection of QuickBooks Desktop to the Intuit server. To fix this, I'd suggest updating your firewall on the host computer.
Note: Make sure that you have already saved a backup file before the process to avoid data loss.
