Buy nowThe process for obtaining a validation code depends on the source of your purchase, Brotherstrade.
If you purchased QuickBooks Desktop online, check your email inbox for a receipt or confirmation message containing the validation code, along with your license number and product number. If you purchased a physical copy, check the printing on the packaging or installation documents within the box.
For advanced users, the validation code can be accessed in the registry. You can locate it as follows:
It's also important to know that if you’re trying to activate a version of QuickBooks that is no longer supported or older than 3 years, you’ll need to upgrade to a newer version, as Intuit does not provide validation codes for discontinued products.
If you cannot locate your validation code or experience activation issues, you can contact our QuickBooks Desktop Phone Support team and provide them with your product information. They can offer other options tailored to your situation.

Which QB Desktop year version?
Quickbooks Premier 2012
Quickbooks premier 2012
Your version is too old. Consider to have a newer one with a non subscription license to upgrade yours.
How much does it cost to upgrade?
Good morning, @Brotherstrade.
Thanks for checking back in. How are you doing today?
If you're looking to upgrade, please know that the newer versions of QuickBooks Desktop are subscription-based plans. Therefore, purchasing a non-subscription version is no longer an option. However, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Sales team for other options.
Once you've purchased the latest version, you can move your QuickBooks Desktop 2012 company file by restoring a backup.
First, you'll need to create a backup of your QuickBooks Desktop 2012 company file. Here's how:
After installing the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop on your new PC, restore the backup files from your local storage and open them using QuickBooks Desktop.
Here's how:
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. Have a good one!
You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA directly by emails for assistance. They can help to provide you a newer license as I mentioned.
This is incorrect. The validation code is not contained in QBRegistration.dat
The license number, sure. But you can more easily find that by just tapping F2?
The validation code is generated by Quickbooks using the license number and product number. It is essential to actually use the software (to activate it).
Certainly folks on the "quickbooks team" know this? It's been repeated here so many times.
Validation Code is not license number, it's not obtainable in CAMPS.
Unfortunately theprocedure outline (F2) does not work in all instances.
F2 opens the product registration information but certainly does not display a registration/validation code.
QB can not be called as the telebot cut me off.
Online help does not help.
So I am in the dark and do not know which way to go.
I there someone knowledgable that I can call? (from south Africa)
The information about the F2 key is not fully true.
It did not work for me.
F2 displays the standard info printed on the product envelope.
The validation key/code is however absent.
WHo do I call to assist me with the registration of the product on a new PC?
Who can I email for assistance?
Help is appreciated.
Thx.
Did you use QB Desktop US version or another country version?
If you are in South Africa, I'm not sure you are using US Version.
Please know that this isn't the experience we want you to encounter, Will. Let me ensure you'll get the assistance you need.
Before we begin, could you please specify where did you purchase and what version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) you're currently using? Any additional information will be appreciated.
The process for retrieving a validation code depends on where you purchased your QBDT. If you bought it online from Intuit, you'll have to check your email for a receipt or confirmation message from us containing the validation code, as well as your license and product numbers.
For physical copies, refer to the printed details on the packaging or the installation documents inside the box.
On the other hand, If you purchased your version from a retailer, please contact them directly to obtain the validation code.
It's also worth nothing that QuickBooks Desktop versions are only available in Canada and United States. Also, as part of Intuit's initiative to phase out older products, first-time registration for discontinued products is no longer possible.
However, if a discontinued product was registered previously, you can use the same validation code and re-registered it again during the reinstallation.
Once done, you can now manually activate your QBDT account using these steps:
If the issue still persists, we can proceed to the next step by following these steps below.
Feel free to reply to this post if you need further assistance.
>For advanced users, the validation code can be accessed in the registry. You can locate it as follows:
This information is incorrect. The validation code is not, and has never been accessible via the registry or in CAMPS, as gets repeatedly stated here. Only the license/product number can be accessed this way. The validation code is calculated using the product code and license number. You are supposed to call Intuit for this, per the popup in the software. As far as I know, Intuit began refusing to provide these to desktop users as of about 2 years ago.
The software will not fully function (activate) without the validation code.
