Apparently you are out of the loop for the so called "updates". Quickbooks is one of the biggest frauds. Within 24 hours of the update my credit card was hacked.
You can downgrade from Enterprise to Pro/Premier + use Enhanced Payroll subscription. You can also ask for a refund for your Enterprise subscription. Then renew your old license via a partner + you can get $100 cashback.
The QB Desktop was not an option when speaking with an Intuit representative but when I was talking with an industry colleague, they purchased QB Desktop 2024. I did look at the costs of it as well and it is well over $1800 for three years. The Accounting system within organizations TYPICALLY only have ONE company file in use however large organizations and accountants will have many so that must be where QB is focusing as we SMBs dont fit that model. So to compare QB Desktop and Freshbooks is a one to one comparison and Freshbooks is better. The price increase of QB Online is simply unacceptable and is less secure then when we run our own local accounting system. I have total control of securing my data and as an IT Consultant, I know what I am talking about. This forced upgrade to QB online could be acceptable if the cost did not take such a massive increase. Again, $500 to over $1,800 for the same software is appealing to no one.
@borntodeal RE: Is there anywhere I can buy a 2023 or 2024 boxed copy of Quickbooks Premiere Edition?
Well, not an actual box, but you can buy QuickBooks Desktop from Intuit and then download it. Which is basically the same thing. I didn't know it, but you can even buy it online from Intuit's site using this page (thanks @CPAAdmin
https://quickbooks.intuit.com/email/final-desktop-plus-sale/?cid=ipd_stopsell
From the page:
The final date to purchase new Desktop subscriptions has been extended! You now have until September 30, 2024. After September 30, 2024, Intuit will no longer sell new subscriptions of QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Mac Plus, and QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll in the United States.
Existing subscribers can continue to renew their subscription after September 30, 2024. We will continue to provide security updates, product updates, and support for those customers.
Again, $500 to over $1,800 for the same software is appealing to no one.
You can still purchase QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus for single user = $650 and get a $100 cashback via a partner.
Is that a subscription or perpetual license. While I understand the cost of the original perpetual license was inexpensive, at $500ish for a three year period, I can see an increase on that to the $650 for the same but if it is $650 "minus the $100" for a year's subscription, it is still a massive increase. I own rental homes and if I did the same to my tenants, I expect that they would immediately move. So I moved from QB because of their decision.
It's $649 a year. So that's $55 a month. While more than before, it's not really that much for business accounting software.
No one knows if/when the price will go up.
If you don't need to run any add-ons (e.g QB Payroll, QB Payment), using QB Desktop with a non-subscription will be enough.
I don't do that so what would i need to achieve that?
You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA for details.
I totally agree with you. I've been using QB Desktop for over 30 years now. I've been getting misinformed since June 18th. After my Desktop 2022 crashed and burned because I'm still running Windows 8.1. They told me I'd have to go to the online version. But that didn't work for me either. Last Friday, July 19th I was told I'd have to purchase a new computer. Yesterday I was refunded money on their crappy unusable QBO and told to purchase Desktop Pro 2024 with a phone # to call. A computer generated voice emailed me the link that brought me to this page. I loathe QB now. I've wasted a month and half on B.S. and still haven't gotten what I need to operate my bookkeeping part of my business. Their help is non existent and the people you speak with are just trying to sell the online version of their crap. I would NEVER recommend anyone I know to use their online B.S. program.
RE: I would NEVER recommend anyone I know to use their online B.S. program.
I read that a lot here.
Do you also have non-subscription licenses for quickbooks desktop for mac?

I have 5 small businesses/farms in my family that I run qb desktop for. I cannot justify purchasing the online (which i hate) for each one. but i cannot download bank accounts into desktop qb pro 2021 anymore. I really dont have time to manually enter each record. any sugggestions
I'm here to share an option you can consider about your bank transactions, @hgould1944.
Upgrading your subscription could simplify your workflow by enabling automatic downloads of your bank transactions in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
To purchase a QBDT Pro subscription, you'll have to contact our sales team:
Once you've purchased the subscription, please refer to this helpful article to guide you through downloading and installing your QBDT: I've bought QuickBooks. What next?
Lastly, you can backup your 2021 company files and restore them to the new QBDT program.
Additionally, you can refer to this article to begin your QBDT journey: Get started with QuickBooks Desktop.
Let us know if you have other concerns with your bank transaction or QBDT. We're here to help you in any way we can.
You can download .qbo files from your bank BUT you can't import directly into your QB Desktop. If your bank provides *.csv files, you will need to use a 3rd party tool to import it into QB Desktop. It's a $199 one time license and you can get $100 cashback to purchase the license from a partner.

If you prefer to keep using the bank feed feature, you can use the trial version of QB Desktop Enterprise as a workaround. You can contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA for details.
Hello, I am in the same position, not so many companies but an SMB as well, and apparently you can still get QuickBooks Desktop version, but they are keeping it well hidden as they are forcing the clients to switch to the Online version. As is, or will be, pointed out, you can contact sales, and they will begrudgingly sell a SUBSCRIPTION to you and so next year you will be forced to change. I would suggest getting the QBD for one year and take that year to find the new accounting software as this is not a matter of Intuit figuring out that they stuck it to the SMBs with the massive price increase, because it is just numbers to management, it is the bottom line and not the customers anymore. I have already switched out as I had a bit of time to do so whereas you are in the issue now.
Talk about really messing with the client base and not knowing the clients that they serve. I expect that the original developer of the software was doing it for the money but also KNEW who the clients were but with this move, they clearly do not know who the client base is anymore because there are dollars and cents at play for them. There is a reasonable price for software but when they no longer care about a reasonable price but rather the ability to squeeze out the most, then there is a problem. I already changed and I expect that is some boardroom, there was the discussion about what is the acceptable client base loss but is made up for through the 300-400% price increase.

Yes. Purchase QB 2024, which will be supported for at least three years.
Get it from Intuit here: Intuit - QuickBooks Pro & Premier 2024 purchase page
Quickbooks online is horrible. If I can't buy the desktop version 2024 then I will have to find a different source. It is obvious Quickbooks no longer cares about their clients. They just want everyone online so they can mine our data and sell it. It is time we report them to CFPB and the FTC
RE: If I can't buy the desktop version 2024 then I will have to find a different source.
Lucky then that you can!
You can still purchase the new legit license of QBD 2024 Pro Plus/Premier Plus/Mac Plus via partner and get a $100 cashback. You can also ask to pay it after you install and run it without any issue.
You could be right, DPSS. After all, why is it necessary when I sign in (infrequently) to get a verification code to my email address and then also to my cell phone, other than to have both and email and cell phone number to sell?
