How do I connect my QB reader to my desktop mac quickbooks?

Connecting the card reader and using it, is easy as 1,2,3. I've included the steps below to get you started. One thing to take note of when using your card reader is the card reader must be plugged directly into the computer that will be accepting payments. 

1. Plug in the device to the computer processing credit cards through an Intuit QuickBooks payments account.
2. Open and log in to the application that will be processing credit cards.
3. Once a payment type is chosen, make sure the process credit card checkbox has a Checkmark. Then swipe the card.
4. When prompted, swipe the card, and the information will populate in the payment fields.
5. Enter the payment amount, also any additional information and submit the transaction for processing to complete the process.

Followed instructions exactly and it's not reading the reader. It does now swipe when I have the process card checked or unchecked. I can't click the swipe icon to have it read the reader. I don't understand what I could be doing wrong or why it's not reading.

This isn't working. I do it exactly as instructed. Reader is plugged straight into the computer. I tried it with the box checked and unchecked and it won't read. The light was blinking blue so I think that means it's on... But nothing...
