Ok, this might be a dumb question, but when I type my description in invoices or a memo on bills, I can only see one line of what is typed. It prints just fine, but I have to scroll within the line to see what is typed in the computer. I know from being on a different computer that the lines are capable of adjusting while I type to show the complete text, but I can't figure out how to configure that in my computer. I don't believe it has anything to do with the template, because I was using the same custom template while in the other computer that did adjust the line to make the complete text visible. Any help to fix this extremely annoying fact would be greatly appreciated.
I appreciate the complete details about your concern, @Hexious.
Depending on the description's length, the description field of the invoice line item automatically adjusts its size. Let's perform verify and rebuild to isolate any possible data damage or corrupted data.
Here's how:
1. Create a backup copy of your company file.
2. Ensure your QuickBooks software is updated to the latest release version.
3. To verify the data
a. Click the File menu.
b. Select Utilities.
c. Choose Verify Data.
d. If the Verify Data pop-up window appears, just click OK.
4. To rebuild the data
a. Go to the File menu.
b. Choose Utilities.
c. Select Rebuild Data.
d. QuickBooks will prompt you to create a backup copy, click OK.
e. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the backup.
f. Once the process is complete, click View issues.
g. Close the QuickBooks Verify/Rebuild Results window.
5. Close and open QuickBooks again to ensure all components are updated.
6. Identify damaged transactions based on the QBWin.log.
7. Apply the appropriate fix on the transaction/s.

I appreciate the answer and I did follow these steps. There was nothing that said View Issues and there was no QuickBooks Verify/Rebuild Results window. I'm could not locate the qbwin.log and I figured the steps were for Windows users, but I have Quickbooks 2020 for Mac. Is there anything else I can do? My issue has not been resolved and now I'm even more confused because my Mac product doesn't seem to point to anything such as qbwin.log or a Verify/Rebuild Results window.
I did leave out that it did find issue and it repaired them, but not log anywhere, nor an option to View Issues. I also did try the other links, but nothing helped (probably because it's for windows) and I didn't try the Quickbooks file doctor because it also seems to be for windows.
Thank you for getting back, @Hexious.
Yes, juVielL is correct. The description field automatically adjusts its size depending on the length entered. However, the Memo field can contain 4095 characters and only displays 30-60 characters on printed checks depending on the Print Settings.
To verify and rebuild data in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac, you can click Utilities from the File menu, then select Verify Data. If you don't receive a prompt stating QuickBooks has detected a problem, then, there's no issue with your QBDT file.
Since you're getting the same experience, I recommend reinstalling QuickBooks for Mac using the clean install. This helps removes QuickBooks with the installation files that were left behind to reinstall the program from a clean slate.
For the detailed reference, you can check this article: Reinstall QuickBooks for Mac using clean install.
If it doesn't make a difference, I encourage contacting our QBDT for Mac Support. They have the tools that can help check this behavior securely.

I see. Thank you for the reply. I'm most likely not explaining my problem well. My specific problem is : the description field does not automatically adjusts its size depending on the length entered. It doesn't adjust at all; it's even difficult to scroll within the screen to see what's written. There is nothing worse than contacting quickbooks support, specially by phone, which is why I'm hopeful that someone will have an answer and I'm not forced to go through the aggravation of calling them.
I appreciate you for getting back and giving additional clarifications to your concern, Hexious.
In QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, you can click on OPTION plus the RETURN key. This will add a line on the field allowing you to enter more data so you can view what's in the description field.

Thank you for the suggestion, but it's definitely not a solution to my problem. I can write as many lines as I want within the cell, but the cell will not adjust to show all the information written. In order to see what's written you have to select the cell and move within the cell to see what is written. I did look at the user manual before posting this question and there was absolutely no mention of a solution for my problem (or I didn't see one). Here are some screen shots that hopefully help explain what I mean.
Thanks for sharing screenshots and additional details, Hexious.

Thank you for the reply. I did end up contacting the Phone Support Team and it was as bad as I imagined. I'm not even sure if I did get added to that list, and the poor guy that I spoke to had the unfortunate time of hearing me say "I hate calling quickbooks", which I hope he didn't think it was directed at him. Calling quickbooks now shed light on another problem to which I will probably not find a solution and I will definitely not be calling back. I do appreciate all the replies though.

I am having the same issue with Quickbooks Desktop for Mac. This was not a problem with Quickbooks 2016. I am not sure what to do, but it's very problematic.

I'm just right here if you have other concerns.
My issue was fixed in the latest update. I'm not sure if it was meant to fix it, but it did. I did find a new issue with the latest update, now I can't arrange vendors by balance amount in the vendor center.
The update was specifically created to resolve the issue with the line spacing in QuickBooks for Mac, Hexious.
Have you tried clicking the small Arrow icon beside the Balance Total bar? That will allow to rearrange the list according to vendor's balances.
If you're still getting the same result, please give us a short call so we can take a closer look at this. Please use the steps that were shared above on how to contact our phone support.

There is no arrow in Quickbooks for Mac Desktop.
The arrow that's supposed to be there is not there. It is on the name tab, I can arrange that. That's no a serious enough issue to call Phone Support, the aggravation is not worth it one bit. Hopefully it will be fixed in a future update.
Has this issue been resolved? I'm working on a Windows computer.
Is there a shortcut key to make the description line deeper instead on the sentences just running on to the right side and not being able to see what it says on the screen?
Let me share an update about the missing arrow and the shortcut keys available in QuickBooks Desktop, Chelsea.
The issue with the missing arrow on the name tab is specific to the Mac version of QuickBooks Desktop. This does not affect users on the Windows version of QuickBooks Desktop.
On the other hand, It seems that the issue you're experiencing with the description field not narrowing down automatically is specific to your Windows installation of QuickBooks Desktop. Normally, the description field should automatically adjust its width to display the full text without running off the screen.
Since that auto-adjustment is not occurring in your case, we'll need to perform verify and rebuild to isolate any possible data damage or corrupted data.
