Hello there, @towergroupcorp.

You can turn on the purchase order feature from the QuickBooks preferences.

Here's how:
  1. Go to the Edit menu.
  2. Select Preferences
  3. On the left pane, select Items & Inventory.
  4. Clickt the Company Preferences tab.
  5. Put a checkmark beside Inventory and purchase orders are active.
  6. Hit OK.

Once done, you can see the button for creating a purchase order from your estimates should be available.

Thank you for getting back to this thread, @towergroupcorp.

I'll help you sort things out. You'll need to get the latest release update of your QuickBooks Desktop. This way, you'll keep your software up-to-date, so you'll always have the latest features and fixes.

Here's how:

  1. Close your company files and QuickBooks.
  2. Open the Windows Start menu.
  3. Search for QuickBooks Desktop, then right-click the icon and select Run as administrator.
  4. While you're on the No Company Open screen, go to the Help menu.
  5.  Select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  6. Choose the Options tab
  7.  Select Mark All and then click Save.
  8. Go to the Update Now tab and select the Reset Update checkbox.
  9. Once ready, select Get Updates.

When the update finishes, close and reopen QuickBooks Desktop. Then select Yes to install the updates. Once done to install, restart your computer.

To learn on the new and improved latest updates to QuickBooks Desktop 2020, feel free to check this article: Release notes for QuickBooks Desktop 2020.

How to copy an Estimate to a Purchase Order in QB 2020 Desktop?

Thanks for letting us know the results of the steps you've taken, towergroupcorp.

I am determined to help you create a Purchase Order from an Estimate in QuickBooks Desktop.

Since updating the software release version did't work, let's try running the Verify and Rebuild Utility Tool this time. This can traces common data damage within your company file.

Below are the steps on how to do this:

  1. From the File menu.
  2. Click on Utilities.
  3. Select Rebuild Data/ Verify Data.

Once done, you'll be seeing the Create Purchase Order option in your Estimate. Please see attached screenshot below:

If the above steps doesn't work, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support. They have the tools to conduct a deeper investigation so you'll able to copy an estimate to a purchase order in QuickBooks.

Additionally, our phone support may be temporarily unavailable due to the recent pandemic which affects our staffing. For now, you can reach our Chat Support instead.

Here are the steps to contact support:

  1. Click Help at the top menu and select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. In the Have a Question? window, enter a topic.
  3. Click Contact us.
  4. Hit the Stat Messaging button.

Please take note our operating hours for chat support depends on the version of QuickBooks that you're using. Please see this article for more details: Support hours and types.

I also recommend sharing the link of this post so the next representative would know the troubleshooting steps you've already taken.

Feel free to drop me a reply below if there's anything I can help you with. Wishing you all the best!
