How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

I know how you want this prompt to be removed when logging in to QuickBooks, Bones67.

I appreciate the time and effort you've spent with our support agents to get this sorted out. I'll personally share your feedback with our Customer Support Team about terrible experiences with having remote access on your computer. We'll be able to take action on improving our customer service.

This prompt is a new update last March 2020. As technology advances, it goes the same way with safeguarding our customers’ information. We help secure and protect your privacy by using industry-leading technology and practices. To get past this pop-up, just choose the Remind option if you don't want to log in to your account. You can also press Alt+F4 and click Cancel to stop the prompt.

We make sure we’re compliant with the applicable local laws on business-related use of personal data. I have articles here to learn more about data privacy:

If the screen is still locked, try closing QuickBooks and access your company file again. If the problem persists, there may be a damaged data on the company file you've been working with. We can run the Rebuild Data tool is built-in to fix any company file data issues.  Just follow the steps and detail in his article: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file.

Visit our QuickBooks Help Articles page for more insight s about managing your business in your software.

I'd like to know how you get on after trying the steps, as I want to ensure this is resolved for you. Feel free to reply to this post and I'll get back to you. Take care always.

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

You should stop trying to sell the idea that logging into a Quickbooks account to access information stored on a local computer is a security feature.  That's nonsense and you know it.

Any connection beyond the local computer creates increased security risk.  It allows information to be observed beyond the local PC, opens up a connection that can be exploited, and allows unknown others to observe local data.  And by unknown others I primarily mean Intuit and Quickbooks.

It's no secret that Intuit and Quickbooks have been trying to force users to move online only to find desktop users aren't keen on this idea.  Quickbooks online is vastly more expensive than desktop, Quickbooks has the ability to mine user data without their consent, and users don't have data portability.  Online Quickbooks is, in almost every case, a bad deal for users.

By requiring users to log into a Quickbooks account to use desktop software, Quickbooks gains the same sort of access to desktop data as it has to online data.   What Quickbooks does with this is not disclosed; neither are Quickbook's plans for future use of this backdoor connection.

Excepting add on services such as payroll, there should never, ever, be a need for a desktop user to log into a internet connected account to use their software.

Quickbooks is treading a dangerous path.  A huge portion of your users are desktop users for a reason - attempting to backdoor these users into a psuedo-online experience only ensures they begin looking for replacements to your product.

Please, explain to us EXACTLY how this extra, extremely annoying step protects us. Unless you can prove it, this is simply a lie. We don't need to do this for any reason whatsoever, other than Intuit wanting to track our use. It is a bloody waste of time!!!!! PLEASE, stop it!!!!! Please, treat your customers with more respect and do not insult our intelligence.
Thank you.

Are you serious? This is not even related to the complaint we are all posting about here!!!!

You disrespect your customers constantly. Intuit has always been arrogant that way.

You guys are not addressing the question that is being posed here in this thread, namely, the annoying and intrusive request that we login to our Intuit accounts in order to work on OUR OWN file.

It's OUTRAGEOUS!!!

Sorry, but it is simply a lie to say this enhances security in any way. Certainly, not for your users. This is a bloody, arrogant, annoyance. Get rid of it, please.

Hear, hear! So many of us have been putting up with Intuit's arrogance for years, just because they are a monopoly. Can't wait to be able to ditch them.

Intuit needs to be taken to task for its brazen arrogance and abuse of customer data, which is being gathered without transparency.

Hey Intuit, are you listening to your customers?

I've been using QB since at least 2007, perhaps before.

You are alienating your customers.  Eventually someone will take your place.  And you will become irrelevant.

The history of software development is full of stories of corporate arrogance.

I have done this (QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2018). And seven days later here it is again. Please issue a maintenance update to stop this ad from appearing. I do not wish to have my account info online.

Forcing this message is forcing me to work OFFLINE whenever I open quickbooks.  You have NO RIGHT to have access to and/or force me to link to my company file for YOUR PURPOSES.  This is insecure.

I so agree with you.  Their support was not great in the past, now it's non existent.  For whatever reason I always have trouble getting logged into my Intuit account within QB (desktop-also don't trust the online version), but it works through a browser (which is how I was able to login here).  We have a new employee that I want to invite to Workforce and it keeps prompting me for my Intuit login (though it's very confusing because it says QuickBooks Payroll in this window) and it does not allow me to login.  I have reset my password 3 times in as many days and still can't access this.  I'm ready to look for different accounting software as well.

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

I am having problems logging into my Intuit (or is it the Payroll) account and called support.  I was directed to the Help menu as well and did not find any link there for a chat window.  Neither did I find the "I've Got a Question" link you refer to in this article.  I am so frustrated at this point! I need to invite our newest employee to Workforce, but it keeps prompting me for my login.  Not sure if it is the Intuit login or the Payroll service login, but I've tried both and keep getting a response to reset my password, which I've done 3 times in the last 3 days.  I can't reach anyone on the phone, there isn't a clear way to access chat and I'm almost to the point of looking for a completely different accounting software as I just found out the annual payroll service went up to $400 this year.  Please give us a link to the chat window so we can have some sort of live conversation with an agent.  I don't want articles I want customer service!

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

Now I have clients calling me asking me WHY and what this is.  They are NOT happy.  Nor am I.  I use QB to do payroll for 12 companies, so I would need to link those 12 to my intuit ID? It makes no sense.  Other than payroll, I have no other services.  Just desktop.  And clients want desktop.  NO ONE in RURUL Iowa wants QB Online and they don't want to be bothered by these irritating popups!

MY CLIENTS WILL NEVER GO FOR QUICKBOOKS ONLINE.  I have told QuickBooks this HOW many times? I keep getting dinged when I renew my ProAdvisor membership.  Internet access in rural areas is still spotty at times.  It just is NEVER going to happen.  And telling QuickBooks this is like explaining Einstein's Theory of Relativity, in Chinese, to a deaf and blind toddler.

Ironically, I was forced to log in... so as to give a clap this reply. Does it say anything that I logged in here just so I could? This new requirement is ridiculous.

Did I miss the law citation? Or are we still waiting for that like we're waiting for Trump's audit results?

Rest assured will be looking for a new accounting package to use when I go online. I have hated the intrusions of Quickbooks for literally years. I am *done* with QB. When I go online, it won't be with you.

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

almon -

Brilliant.  I was frozen on the stupid QB login window, could only exist aby Crtl-Alt-Del and terminate via Task Manager.  Then I read your suggestion:

use the Alt-F4 key combination then click the CANCEL box

That closed the box giving access into my QB Desktop - note to all the QB "Team" --- MY DESKTOP.

I immediately implemented the other fix described above in this chain:

EDIT > PREFERENCES > INTEGRATED APPLICATIONS > COMPANY PREFERENCES

Then Check DONT ALLOW ANY APPLICATIONS TO ACCESS THIS COMPANY FILE.

Prompted to ask if you area sure, click OK and smile.   Hopefully bye-bye to the Intuit Intrusion.

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

I have tried every method described to get QB from asking me to log in to my Intuit account.  The Alt F4 method worked for 2 weeks but now it does nothing, literally.  I am now forced to log in to Intuit so that I can access my company files.  This is absurd!  The other methods suggested have had no effect for me; I've tried every suggestion made, other than kicking Intuit to the curb, what other remedy is there?

I appreciate you for performing the workaround shared by my colleagues in this thread, @michael viser.

Know that this is not what I want you to experience with QuickBooks. Since the steps don’t work anymore, I’d suggest contacting our Support team.

There, they can securely look into your accounts and provide additional steps and information in accessing your company files without logging in to your Intuit account. How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

Hello,

We have software programs that pull and push data to the quickbooks file. This pop up is blocking that connectivity. We need a way to turn off to keep the software working.

The most important one we are using is yardi classic which manages our HUD. Please advise

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

Hey there, matthewamo.

Thanks for following this thread. We’ll have to turn off the Don't allow any applications access to this company file option to prevent any apps from blocking the connectivity.

I’m here to guide you through the process. Let’s open the company file and configure the settings.

  1. Go to the Edit menu at the top to select Preferences.
  2. Tap Integrated Applications on the left panel.
  3. Then, choose the Company Preferences tab.
  4. Uncheck the box for Don't allow any applications to access this company file.
  5. Hit OK and then OK to close out the Preferences window.

Check out this article for more insights into this process: Block applications from accessing the QuickBooks company file.

You can also end the non-responding program in the Task Manager. Here’s how:

  1. Then, right-click on the taskbar and select Start Task Manager.
  2. Go to the Processes tab and highlight the programs that start with .qbo, QuickBooks, or Intuit.
  3. Hit the End Task button.

I’m also adding a guide that provides an overview of the added security in your company file and other enhancements in QBDT: Release notes.

Don’t hesitate to visit the Community again if you have any clarifications or other concerns. I’ll be around to answer them for you. Have a great day ahead.
