My company's account is linked to Maybank.
Donations from donors usually go through online transfer via Maybank and the transaction will automatically be under banking so usually I just assign the donor name and categorize the transaction before adding it.
However, I realized that I can't see individual transaction list under the Donor tab because it is not an invoice but a bank deposit.
I searched the internet but find that the only way for me to see individual transaction list is by customizing Profit and Loss income by filtering it to specified donor.
However, I feel like that is too time-consuming. So is there any way for me to see transaction list under individual donor without making an invoice? Or is there a way to make bank deposit transaction show in donor tab?

Hi @azureen99.
Yes, there's a way to show individual donor's transaction list specific to deposits by running a particular report.
You should be able to see the deposits under the donor's transaction list once the deposit entries are categorized and assigned to a donor in the Banking window. Since this is not the case, you may want to filter the donor tab transaction list to see the deposits.
On the other hand, we're unable to show an individual transaction list under the donor tab. You'll have to click the donor's name in the donor tab to see all of their transactions.
Here's how to show all deposits made from a donor's transaction list:
Additionally, you can customize the Deposit Detail Report to show individual donors' deposit entries by modifying the Report period and group it by Name. It's made only of a few steps.
Here's how:
These are all the ways to prevent you from creating an invoice just to show the added categorized deposits.
Furthermore, you can memorize this report by clicking the Save customization button so you won't have to modify this specific report again. Then find them under the Custom reports tab in the Reports menu moving forward.
Give it a try. If you have other QuickBooks transaction tracking and reports concerns, feel free to comment below. I'll get back to help. Stay safe and healthy.

Thank you so much. This really helped me!!
Another question I that I want to ask is regarding Donor(Customer), Supplier and Employee category type.
There is a situation in my company in which a payee can be both a donor and an employee. When assigning payee, we can only choose one category of payee ( to my understanding), but is it possible to make a profile with 2 category? Or do we just have to do separate profile for same payee (just under different name).
Thank you in advance.
Hello, @azureen99. Thank you for getting back to the thread. I'm here to share additional information about your concern.
I'm glad my colleague's answer helped you with your initial concern. With regards to setting up another category for your donor and customer at the same time. I agree that you'll have to create a separate profile for the same payee. Since we're unable to create two categories under one profile.
However, when choosing categories I'd suggest consulting your accountant. So that they can guide you with the right categorization of your profile to avoid messing with your account. For they know what's best for your business.

THANK YOU! Your first suggestion of adding 'plus deposits' to the filter list works. However, QB should still fix this to where those donor deposits are automatically included in their transaction list. Also, the second suggestion of going to reports and sorting by name, did NOT include all the donor donations by name. Any donations that where deposited with other donors showed up with no name...even though the deposit DOES have each donation properly entered to each donor.
Thanks for joining in on this thread, Cloud.
I'm glad that the steps provided by my colleague were able to resolve your concern about showing all deposits made from a donor's transaction list.
Since you're having issues running a report that displays donor donations by name, you can run the Transaction List by Customer report instead and customize it to include only the necessary information. To do that:
Furthermore, you can export reports to Excel, so you can manually add information relevant to your business needs.
Let me know in the comments below if you have further questions about running reports in QBO. We're always on standby to answer your queries. Stay safe, and have a great rest of the day!
Absolutely agree that 'all transactions' should include deposits. This distinction by QBO has messed me up several times.
Originally I stated that the first 'fix' seemed to work, but now I'm realizing that if the donor has only made donations that are included in a 'deposit' with other entries, I can't get the transaction tab to work at all. There is a big 'ad' that says "Create and send invoices, then get paid". I can't get the 'transaction tab' to allow me to ask it to show deposits. Any ideas?
Also, I want to 'tag' this individual donor's amount to a certain event, but I can't find a place to 'tag' when entering multiple donors on a deposit. Any ideas?
Thanks for coming back here, @CCloud1.
Let me help you sort things up. But before that, I'd like to know if you're trying to match the transactions or just wanted to view it according to the donor.
The info you'll be providing will be of great help in achieving your goal.
Please feel free to reply to this post if you have additional questions. I'll be happy to help. Take care always!
I want to view under the donor. However, I did find out that you can't 'tag' the individual entries in a deposit. It's all or nothing. Not very user friendly, BUT I did check out the 'class' designation, so I'm using that and hope it will achieve the desired result.
I still think QB should have a way to show any amount deposited under a donor's name in their register, though.
Unfortunately, I can no longer use the first suggestion because my donor page no longer looks the same. Instead, there is a big 'ad' that says "Create and send invoices - then get paid". I want to see the old donor page. How do I get back to that?
Hi there, CCloud1.
I want to ensure you get the help you need about your donor page concern.
To be sure we're on the same page, can you send a screenshot about the big 'ad' that says "Create and send invoices - then get paid" you're referring to? Then, make sure to hide personal information when sharing it so I can get a better picture of what's happening.
We are looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great day!
Hello there, CCloud1. I appreciate the attached screenshot. I'm here to ensure that the deposit will show in your transaction list tab.
Once you include the donations with other entries in the deposit, the transaction will still show in the Transactions List under the Donors tab.
Based on the screenshot, it shows that no transactions are displaying. To isolate the issue, let's open the deposit and ensure you've selected the appropriate customer in the Received From column.
If the issue persists after checking, let's open your QuickBooks account in a private window to rule out browser-related issues. Here are the keyboard shortcuts:
If you can now view the bank deposit, return to your browser and clear your cache. Occasionally, the accumulated cache and cookies in the system can become outdated or corrupted, leading to unexpected behaviors. You can also switch to other installed supported browsers, which is a good alternative.
Furthermore, I'll be adding these articles to help you manage your transactions and guide you in reconciling your account in QuickBooks Online:

None of the suggestions worked. I've been using QuickBooks since 1991, so I'm very familiar with how to select the appropriate donor, how to categorize transactions and how to reconcile an account. What I'm not familiar with is QuickBooks having a solution to this issue.
Please continue to try and help me fix this problem. As you can see I'm not the only one with this issue and it appears that it is confusing to you all, as well. I do data entry for two other companies through QuickBooks online and each of them looks different.
With one company, I constantly have to hit a button to "Switch to Classic View". Why can't I stay in classic view all the time for that company? But that is another question for another day. Back to seeing the donations made by a donor within that donor's 'page'.
Thank you for coming back to the Community, CCloud1.
It's great to hear that you have extensive experience using QuickBooks, but I can see how this particular issue can be challenging. Let me direct you to the right support that can get the deposits to show in the Transaction Lists screen and address some of your concerns.
Based on the scenario, we'll have to open your QuickBooks Online (QBO) company and review the donor setup and how the entries, as well as deposits, are tracked. I recommend contacting our QBO Customer Care Team for further assistance.
They can perform a screen-sharing session with you, trace where the issue is coming from, and provide a permanent fix to rectify the issue. Here's how to reach them:
Regarding your concern with the Switch to classic view feature, the option to stay all the time is currently unavailable. We understand your need to have the ability to remain in the view stated above. Let's forward this idea straight to our developers for consideration in future developments.

Same problem here. I used to be able to view donor transactions on the donor page. These were donor deposits made without a pledge or invoice. The hack used to be click Filter > All Plus deposits to be able to see them. But that filtering / toggle option is gone. Please bring it back or somehow enable all donor transactions on this page (even without a pledge or invoice). Looking forward to an update to fix this.
I can see how this issue affects tracking donations, generating reports, and maintaining donor transparency, @laura_the_emu.
I've replicated your concern and located the All Plus deposits filter. Please see the screenshot below for visual preferences.
In the meantime, let's perform basic troubleshooting steps. You may have accumulated too much historical data. Whenever you visit a website, it saves some information from the web page in its cache and cookies. These files allow the websites you visit most often to load faster. Not to worry, clearing them will do the trick.
First, let's try accessing your account through an incognito window to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue. You can refer to these shortcut keys to open an incognito window in all supported browsers:
Once done, review the deposit. If it works, switch back to your regular browser. Then, clear its cache. This way, you can access QuickBooks with a clean slate. You can also use a different supported one.

Keep me informed about how it works out in the comments below. If you need assistance with customer deposits or managing sales and income transactions in QBO, just let me know. Take care.
I'm not sure if your problem is the same as mine, but I had to create an invoice for myself as a donor for a small amount. Once I created this fake invoice, the tab to look at donor + deposits came back. I leave that fake invoice unpaid so the ad that was blocking all my tabs doesn't come back. Hope this helps.
